Can I use a trigger to spawn a fire base?
RedCanoe posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi, Is it possible to make a small fire base appear when I trigger it by being present. Do I need to make all the objects somehow not true until the trigger goes? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -
Wanted: Open ended SP Missions
RedCanoe posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi, I'm wondering if someone out there has a SP mission where you basically have a base and have to clear the map of enemies. Something that will take hours and hours to play. Looking to do this in Takistan. Thanks. -
I see it in my expansions (assume from the latest patch). Does this mean I can download missions that require "BAF"? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just have a few beers before a BAF mission so I don't notice the textures. Cheers,

Medevac Module
RedCanoe replied to goliath86's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
@goliath86 - It's in SP. Also, it's happening when I am testing it in the editor using "preview". Not sure if that is a problem...do I have to export it for it to work? I have it grouped(or synched, I can't remember) to a game logic as well. -

Hi, I get in to be re-inserted, click on the map and see a marker for being reinserted, but the chooper just hovers? -
Units sold info .. keep hearing game not popular. Can't be.

I don't play online. I love SP and bought it for that. I play my own missions with the editor and haven't played the campaigns for either ARMA2 or OA. I would like to try playing co-op with a few people against AI, but am just too busy with SP. Maybe in the future. -
Help with suicide bomber script

Noob question...Can you explain how I can put this in one of my missions? I would like to "not" know where or when it is going to happen. Cheers. -
I bought dragon rising because I thought Arma2 was too complex and difficult. Needless to say, I uninstalled that game after 2 missions and bought ARMA2. I play this game every night. It is just fantastic. I pretty much make all my own missions in the editor. Never touch the campaign or anything else really. You can dial down the difficulty very low to get used to the controls (It's pretty easy with the enemy at zero) and learn the game. It has taken me a while to memorize the commands and I'm still working on it. The editor is pretty easy to use and with a little searching and asking on forums you can make great simple missions (briefings and all that kind of flash takes a bit more work, but you don't need it, or you can...whatever). I can make a mission in an hour that takes 5 hours to play. I would recommend this to anyone disappointed with dragon rising. It can really be tailored to what you want it to be. This is a sandbox in all sense of the word. Like playing soldiers, only digital. The community is great and there seems to be no end to how big the game is. Cheers, Rob

Make marker dissappear
RedCanoe replied to RedCanoe's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I'll try that. Thank you. -
Hi, I'm making simple missions for myself and want to spend more time playing than making. I know how to put markers and make a trigger that tells me when the objective has been met. How can I make the marker disappear after it is completed (Example: I place a marker for "patrol town" in center of town and put a trigger that says "objective complete" when I get within 50 meters of it. Now I want the marker to be gone). Thanks, Rob

Where do I put that? -
If it doesn't. I'll jump off a bridge.

It is odd. Once it completely stopped working. When I play my own missions that I make in the editor, nothing ever goes wrong. I'll try running the apps as administrator. I don't run anything in particular in the background. I use gamebooster to stop most non-essential services (maybe that's it). I do have a logitech G15 keyboard that has a few little things running (clock, and a CPU/RAM monitor). Rob

Windows 7 64 bit. 2X Nvidia 8800GT SLI, 197.13 drivers Just with downloaded missions or campaigns. Yes, minimized to system tray. I'm pretty sure it's the latest IR software. Rob

Hi, When I play my own missions, everything is fine. I have tried a couple of missions/scenarios that I downloaded and I soon get very sluggish response from my TrackIR5. I have to then quit out of the game... Any thoughts? Thanks Rob

Hard time with all the commands/sign on screen
RedCanoe replied to rfc's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Use the editor and create a really easy mission. Put a bunch of enemy guys with low skill and set yourself up with a couple of guys to lead with lots of skill. Then you can go and fart around learning the controls before you get into a situation where everything is crazy around you. Rob -
No Use...I have a quad core Q6600. Unless I'm mistaken, that's a few rungs up the ladder than an E6400. Unless I'm missing something.

I play SP only.

Ok, please don't yell at me. I know there is a thread for GPU's and I have looked through it. I want to upgrade for Arma 2 and was waiting for NVIDIA to come out with their DX11 cards. These ones don't look astonishing. I haven't had an ATI card for a long time, and frankly they scare me (always seem to need hotfixes). I also see people saying how CPU dependent ARma2 is, and I don't want to buy something that is bottlenecked. So....I have 2X NVIDIA 8800GT's running with a Q6600 and 6 GB Ram. The 5770 is under $200 CND. Is this a card that can run Arma 2 at pretty high settings? Will the 5850 be significantly better. Should I wait for a while? Mucho Thanks. Rob

Graphics problem: Green light around objects!
RedCanoe replied to jvlk's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
They show up in recruit as stated above. You cannot turn them off (they aren't the same thing as enemy indicators). You must play on regular or up. Regular is not hard if you turn the enemy skill down. Rob -
Troubleshooting TrackIR in ArmA 2 / OA

Hi, When I play my own missions, everything is fine. I have tried a couple of missions that I downloaded and I soon get very sluggish response from my TrackIR5. I have to then quit out of the game and start Arma2 and TrackIR software again. Then it happens again. Any ideas why this might be happening? Thanks in advance. Rob -
Well, I'm here because of the monumental failure of that other game...and glad of it. I can't believe how good this game is (bugs and all). The editor makes it for me. I haven't touched the other stuff. I can make the game I've always wanted...in a few hours even. New to the game and loving it. Rob

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not used to that action menu yet, still learning the ropes. -

I did search for this for a while. I feel dumb asking, but how so I switch between the kinds of grenades I have (e.g frag and smoke). Thanks do much Rob
