    VME PLA MOD for ARMA II

    well i just had a play around with it and i quite enjoyed it, very well made and the weapons and models are top notch. good job! few small issues: - a popup saying Addon ´VME_Groups´requires addon ´vem_pla_eq2050 appears when launching the game - a few errors when spawning mechanised infantry groups which results in a few members of the squad missing good to see a nice full army that uses neither NATO or warsaw pact weapons or vehicles for once. any plans for the future? will you include the PLAN marines with their trademark bright blue camouflage in a future release?

    Visitors for Arma2

    loving the zetaborn on duala 1.9 and setting up my own Battle: Bologna missions. also when i ally the independents with OPFOR i use the cylon raiders from the BSG mod as the alien airforce :D some (small) critiques: - right now the zetaborn really struggle against tanks and armour especially on long range battles, possibly make the krak launchers guided using values from the metis or javelin? - possibly make the aliens more scary by raising the ROF of the pulse guns, reducing recoil and making them more trigger happy for those blazing night battles - also need an AA alien as they get utterly raped by choppers - grenadier alien? zguba didnt really have one for arma 1 tho anyways this effing rocks keep up the good work! i suppose you'll be porting over zguba's ufos as well?

  4. well thats the thing, one needs to generate interest before you can have interest. and youre wrong about the star wars or BSG mod, for the amount of actual content they have -which isnt very much tbh- they have a huge amount of interest in them battlestar galactica mod only has 6 ships and two releases yet there is over 8 pages in their completed thread the reason its relegated to 2nd or third page is it hasnt been updated in months even more for the star wars mod, its only received a couple of beta releases yet the thread is 63 pages long! and it still pops up even though mcruppert said he stopped working on it! many modmakers can only dream of generating so much interest for such little effort. the reason why sci fi modding hasnt taken off on arma 2 is due to lack of content, there hasnt been a single large regularly updated mod out there that has taken the community by storm and thus modders have adopted a 'wait and see' approach. i believe that many modmakers have plenty of whacky ideas just waiting to be used but are holding back on committing to them unless they see a very clear demand for it. also with OFP, non standard mods such as sci fi or historical mods only really began to take off several years into release when the mod scene was abundantly saturated with every realistic modern day weapon and skin available in the world. arma 2 is still relatively new and i think we are just about reaching that saturation point, all we need to do is get the ball rolling. i mean, even a direct port of OFP40k to arma 2 complete with the muddy textures would be huge! unfortunately thats about as far as i can help, ive only just begun attempting to model and its gonna take a while before i can make anything useful :(

  6. not to mention some of the footage in the documentary had PLA in desert kit fighting insurgents in takistan, im willing to bet the mod has been updated significantly but we need to find the download link!
  7. speaking of fromz's blog, scroll down in this post and check out the PLA tank simulators, look familiar? in adddition i checked the VME forums and came across this post about this PLA "mechanized infantry tactical coordination training system", from what i gather it seems that either VME, fromz or both of their mods are being used by the PLA for training. http://www.chinavme.com/thread-14594-1-1.html can anyone decipher it? my chinese is pretty sh!t and translators aernt very good, would like to know more and it probably explains their sudden long inactivity if their work has been diverted to more serious means.   8. they do shoot, just extremely rarely and in 1-2 shot bursts at close range. this also means that human enemies can often fire hundreds of rounds into them which throws their crosshairs all over the place making them fire even less. mechs should be made much more trigger happy and injuries shouldnt affect accuracy, although i have no idea how doable it is. heres to more sci fi whacky addons :D

  10. wow, this is the first remotely original mod ive seen in months. dean is right, there are hundreds of reskins of bog standard weapons and vehicles but a real lack of anything creative in the arma 2 mod community, especially compared with the crazy shit everyone loved in OFP
  11. how about some some muthaf*ckin aliens? battle:LA trailer for added inspiration ORb3zC8z94w doesnt have to be anything fancy, just unfamiliar and REALLY powerful to simulate the difference in technology. being independent would be good as well, gives the russians something to fight too.

  13. an actual whacky over the top sci-fi addon would be awesome, i remember the aliens addon for arma1 and had tonnes of fun pitting US marines against hordes of aliens and UFOs. although nothing compares to the massive number of alternate addons for OFP ive downloaded hundreds of ultra realistic mods and addons, now for something different

    cant you just release what youve got? then carry on once you find the time? would be terrible to have all the time and effort spent on this gone to waste :(

    big bug, flap doesnt go down when AI is transporting troops so when they start exiting they climb over the raised flap only to fall to their deaths :S

    omfg the things i would do to be able to take on an AT AT in an AMP suit *HINT* *HINT* speaking of which, instead of being soley a starwars mod, wouldnt it be better to make this as a general sci fi mod instead? you know, like storm troopers vs T800s vs Navi vs 40k dreadnought vs US army, the possibilities are endless
