    Automatic Mod Downloading

Thats why there is such thing as a software engineer. They problem solve. Besides, right now you would have to set up the old mod yourself anyway, so what is the difference?!!! Its called hit the cancel button, contact the server. Servers that choose not to update there mods will continue to be empty just as they are today. We are trying to save the servers that do update their mods all the time. Drugs are bad, enough said

Arma 3 with 1,000 players online .. possible?

heh, People already calling for 1000 players online before we can even run 100 smoothly. Net code needs a lot of work most likely, but I cant know for sure.

Any new news on this? Its always been in my mind, paramount, to the success of ArmA3 in the gaming community as a whole.

    Major issue with multiplayer

The trifecta of ArmA3 success all comes down to MP in the following ways. 1. Automatic mod downloading/patch updates 2. Enable/Disable mods passed initialization, or at least automatically to match the content of the server 3. Drastically reduced client jittering and JIP lag. Everybody agrees that A2 rocks in its size, mod-ability, and realism. AI is already pretty great in most circumstances, blows most games out of the water. The problem is that multiplayer is now the main thing gamers look at for longevity, and A2 failed in this department. I believe this is the core reason why A2 remains and unconventional game. I find the learning curve and realism to be fairly optional for newcomers, and easily circumventable if you could just jump in multiplayer really easy. Most people would rather learn how to play by garnering information from other real players instead of guessing around in an editor and singplayer.

hrrmmm.. If its BS, then its pretty creative sounding BS
  9. If beta testing is designed for ruling out bugs, then play testing is designed to see if game play is enjoyable. Saying that rare unpredictable bugs dont matter is bullshit! You would have to be an extremely uncaring person to shove a product down peoples throats thinking the unpredictable bugs don't matter. Memory leaks and race conditions can cripple networks and compromise security.
  10. Beta's are not just for beta test, they are for play testing and finding those rare unpredictable bugs.
  11. A large scale beta test would not be for the detailed reports and organized bug testing. It would be for the bugs that are difficult if not impossible to purposefully replicate. I think those bugs tend to be a problem in A2 multiplayer. Things that are never taken seriously because A2 is no longer in full development. When you are not working on a patch, your more inclined to make bigger risks in the game code to try and fix something.

    foot trails

I've always found their to be a lack of foot trails in arma2 and previous. I think they are good for immersion and simple to do. You can make maps with them in arma2, but why not the stock maps in arma3?

    foot trails

A foot trail, is a trail used to walk. You can use a foot trail to navigate and stay stealthy while maintaining a decent speed.
  14. This mission pack has been on hold for a while as I moved and started up school, but its now available at armaholic. Check out the video for a solid understanding of how this all works. Description: Advance The Flag is a new PVP game mode that utilizes dynamic game play elements, zone capture, tickets, and alternatively instant winning in round mode. It focuses around advancing flags to speed up the rate at which you gain tickets. I hope it takes hold in the realm of player versus player for ArmA2. USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Walkers logic is that if you indiscriminately accept campaign donations or have no desire to control racist people, you are a racist. LOL

I think its hilarious that you fail to talk about the racist fascism that propagated through Europe. You do realize the magnitude of racism was far worse with the increase in government regulation for those countries? To put the final nail in the coffin in this ridiculous argument; the racist business owners that failed to follow the law got removed. What does that entail? It entails that the minorities never got access to the restaurant like they had planned. This means that the threat of force is a bunch of bullshit because it does not solve anything if its actually put into action. The threat of force is pure incentive, no different than the activists threatening to not consume their goods anymore. Your plan has no direct advantage over our plan. Like I said, racists were still a minority during that time, and quickly fell like a minority. It would have been no different had the government just let things run its course. Boycotts are no different than government force in the end. One is just peaceful and fair.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Assuming that every successful industry before civil rights laws were enacted was racist is hilarious. I think the reason why your stuck in this argument is because your fighting an idea. Your trying to ignorantly pin industry with this insanely exaggerated stance. Something for which you have no concrete knowledge of. Free market theory is much like natural selection. If a racist mcdonalds set up a restaurant in a black community they would mathematically never make it. On the side of 1/100 percent, I would think a restaurant could get away with it in the short term. But it only takes a non racist competitor to eventually annihilate that issue. Next, observe that your theory is only valid if the majority of white people were racist. Obviously, due to the success of the civil rights movement in a majoritarian system, the majority was not truly racist.

I would like you to name the businesses that thrived. I doubt you can seeing your just spouting nonsense. Hmm, I wonder why the civil rights movement was such a success? Was it because society wanted to change? I think so.

    Gun politics

Froggyluv, there website was hacked after the whole incident happened with hutaree. I visited there website before it happened. They were pretty well known in the community. The only problem people had with them is the liked bible scripture. And again, there was no plan to kill cops. They were just angry after a funeral and started to create speeches about america and the constitution. Also, violence has more correlation with population density than it does gun ownership.

    Gun politics

I'm calling you out on hutaree. Last time I checked, they were charged with conspiracy and the case against them is falling apart because no actual recording of conspiracy has been received from the plant. All these stories have been designed to convince you, froggyluv, that you are not safe from militias putting you in this mind set. The only paranoid people are the ones who believe this evil militia nonsense.

    Gun politics

I think the problem people have comes down to the psychological alignment. I mean, its obvious that gun hoarders seem like crazy people, but I think its necessary that these types of groups exist. If things get out of control, they will be available to help at any time. I think one of the most misused quotes of all time is violence never solves anything. People tend to use that quote for anything involving a gun, but in reality its not about killing someone. Its about having leverage in a situation to create peace. But again, leverage should be fair. It should not be in the hands of a few. Everyone should have a right to own a gun to solve problems involving self defense until they do something terribly wrong involving it themselves. There is no way to do a mass disarm and make sure none of the bad guys have weapons. It always results in the few with power issue.

Will UDP still be dominant in ArmA3?

The thread title sort of speaks for itself. I wonder this because as we all know, desynch is a major issue in ArmA2, and correct me if i'm wrong, but ArmA2 still uses UDP. UDP is a pain in the ass to use by itself in a game this complex. (I believe suma said arma used UDP, so i'm assuming arma2 does too) It is true that UDP is good for FPS games because it needs the info FAST. The problem in arma2 is there is so much data that it puts it on the level of an mmo in its scope. I really think that it needs some sort of balanced mix. Something that will eliminate JIP lag and make the game feel modern again in its multiplayer performance. If you have any better ideas, please let me know.
