Dynamic Settings UI
tacticalnuggets replied to tacticalnuggets's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
That is really strange, but I think I know what the problem is. Even though the documentation says to inherit from the scrollbar class, some people are not using it in their declarations. I have to assume that removing it might fix the problem. So here is a potential quick fix, not an update: http://download1643.mediafire.com/69crq164l3mg/7ihwkc368wojxi3/Dynamic+Settings+UI+v0.9.2.zip -
Dynamic Settings UI
tacticalnuggets replied to tacticalnuggets's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Updated to version v0.9.1: new readme included! v0.9.1 - Fixed some dialog warnings and errors for arma3 - Added InitDynamicSettingsArma2.sqf and InitDynamicSettingsArma3.sqf scripts for initializing in separate game versions. (improves security) - Added DynamicSettingsArma2.hpp and DynamicSettingsArma3.hpp files for separate game versions when including in description.ext. (fixes bugs) - scripts get compiled using compileFinal when using the new Arma 3 versions Download: http://download1520.mediafire.com/29kovtw9vd7g/d999rde1t346f3t/Dynamic+Settings+UI+v0.9.1.zip New Installation: The readme.txt file now includes a new installation process for this update. A new initialization process for Arma2 and Arma3 is required for the template to work. -

Thank you! I've actually worked on this primarily in a2, but i'm now fixing these errors. I have a butt load more arma2 content that is too complicated to release to a3 without serious testing. Consider this my practice run :P -
What is the future of this franchise?
tacticalnuggets replied to iceman77's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This game has no future because of a spoiled fan base (BIS has literally given their lives for this game, surrendering most forms of popularity in the main market even). Most of the fans here spend more time bashing other players and opinions instead of working on valuable mods and other ways to improve this games popularity. Thats why this franchise is doomed in the long run in terms of popularity. -

There is nothing impossible about re-integration with A3 in order to create a "dayz wars" kind of scenario. Too much focus on "proper threads and forum subsections" is redundant in the long run of this franchise. -

Dayz was originally a mod for the ARMA series. Oh? And still is. -

Honestly, the problem with dayz is it has no end game and it shows when people just rage off for a week. The high player count is the only thing that keeps the damn game going and hackers are in WAY too high numbers right now. There needs to be some kind of tvt aspect naturally built in, like collecting weapons and gear for your team to respawn once you get it and then eventually defeating the other persons base, so zombies are still relevant most of the game. -

They will hand development over to the forum mods, and they will lock all the "pointless" content. -
ARMA3 needs better ACCESSIBILITY for players to meet, chat and play out of the box!
tacticalnuggets replied to avibird 1's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Obviously BIS is going to sell itself to a superior company like codemasters and then trade its intellectual property to EA so it can instead make royalties off of better marketing. Psshh, small time fanboys. ArmA3 will be canceled and instead expansions will come out once every 6 month by codemasters dev's -
Modders/Programmers/Modellers/Animators, what do you intend on doing with the game?

How far has the game come in terms of optimization?
tacticalnuggets replied to critanium's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This is a regardless scenario of optimization. If you can store and execute the information of a battle between AI in a multiplayer game while saving resources on the clients then that is optimization of real time events. All caps doesn't really help btw. :P -

tacticalnuggets replied to critanium's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
This thread isn't about that. Nor can you coin ArmA as any direct thing. Its used as a modding engine, a multiplayer simulator, a persistent world, a conflict simulator, and many other things. EDIT: Let me make it a little more clear. Calling ArmA a persistent world is absolutely redundant. It is a semantic waste of time and a simple thread derailment. -

No offense, but every post I have read from metalcraze has been about creating conflict and being a troll. Essentially in the template of "I'm right and your wrong, lets argue". No compromises or critical thinking coming to an agreement. -
What Languages are the ArmA Series Programmed In?
tacticalnuggets replied to anthropoid's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
You should probably learn a diverse range of languages. You will find that all languages are easier to learn once you learn a few..... Except for assembly language :P -
I really feel like A3 is getting the focus it needs this time. The important issues are being worked on, and multiplayer is definitely getting a larger amount of attention. The great multiplayer experience was always there, just locked away from us through low player numbers, lag (in all its forms), and a lot of new user unfriendlyness. Something about the previews just makes A3 look so much more crisp than A2 as well. The multiplayer will drive the arma series to a new level of popularity while still keeping the milsim orientation. Hell, this game, if it performs well enough, could bring milsim itself into wide spread popularity.

Because you have to actually apply the solution. derp

swinging here, The main problem is packaged with the game, because there is an onslaught of noobs who simply do not understand the mod culture we have created.
-
This thread continues on because its important. It is definitely funny seeing people frustrated with getting dayz working. However, you have to understand the population and how the global system works for getting more people into the game. People are, on average, not very smart or tech savvy. You have to make it easier for them to get into modded servers without imposing a community made tool that cant be found built into the game. I read a Sciam article that actually reminded me of this situation. It had to do with the time efficiency of purchasing items online. I currently find it pretty easy, but if people are to consume more it must be made even easier. That is essentially the same situation in this game, but has to do with downloading mods instead of purchasing a product.

US is broke, it would be more realistic if they had swords and horses! :P

SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?
tacticalnuggets replied to gammadust's topic in OFFTOPIC
The internet is fairly similar to the printing press revolution of europe and the renaissance. If people really want governments to monopolize the internet for our "own safety" then the internet will go that direction. I have my doubts about that ever being possible though. From what we saw in egypt, this attempt greatly enhanced the fierce resistance to information control. In the US we have not entirely reached that stage. Our ISP's are mostly monitored, not controlled. The only way the government can get away with this is if they do it so slow no one will notice. Thats exactly what they are trying to do now. I understand that a lot of people have a distaste for free market anarchism, whether semantic in nature or not. However, the internet has been a great test of this philosophy and it sadens me how people want to eliminate it. Without the major market pressure from the internet on large corporations, many of us would still be watching shit tv programs on cable instead of whatever we want online. -
SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?
tacticalnuggets replied to gammadust's topic in OFFTOPIC
Agorists love the freedom of the internet. SOPA is obviously an attack on the internets anarchistic environment. So the question comes down to whether people have finally accepted that agorism/anarchy can exist efficiently and for the benefit of everyone. -
OMG.. No offense, but this sounds like an onion quote.

I'm saying that I dont really care if the story is fictional or not, i'm just saying when it comes to the authenticity of the story its far fetched. I think it will still probably be fun. I think its funny that people are getting all heated up about it. I'm not here to start an argument. The arma stories have never been very authentic, even if they paralleled some things on accident.
