Player moves like a drunken sailor.

I'm just taking his side because he is right, and the majority here is gang flaming on him without any consequence. I'm not afraid to point out flaws. This is a real flaw. And I thought this was in the suggestions, but its not, so it should probably be moved.

Player moves like a drunken sailor.

I hate it when people claim the game is perfect. If you truly loved the game you would acknowledge that the game has some flaws. The game is not a super game. The game is a well done simulation that has its ups and downs. Some downs include poor handling for CQB. Its a known fact that a normal person would navigate their gun and bodies through a building much more effectively than arma2. If you truly love this game you would want to see it grow, not claim its perfect and cover up all its flaws. The game simulates things beautifully and offers unimaginable worlds for you to fight over. But at the same time it needs to fix its MP capabilities/performance, frame rate performance, AI road handling, and CQB movements. Stop pretending the game is perfect and shut every guy with an opinion out of this forum with passive aggressive flaming. It does no good for this game. It does no good for the community. I'm not an admin but I will gladly point out when people are uselessly pushing someone out of his own suggestion thread. You are not BIS, they will make their own decisions. There are potential customers out there that outnumber every one of you guys.

Low Fps new card (5870) plz help

I have the same problem. When I upgraded from a 4890 I noticed no FPS gain in most places. Cities have shown the biggest improvement, but not enough to warrant getting a new card imo. It seems that the CPU is a huge choke in this game (even with my e8400 3.6ghz). The game is flawed in this department, sadly. Z-fighting and overly detailed buildings and CPU activity basically cripple fps on any card, and the CPU has been the only sure fire way to get more "stable" frames in this game. Stable meaning sustained.

    Latency

I'd have to say that the bullet simulation of battlefield games is no where near that of arma 2, sorry to shoot your bubble there. However, there is no excuse for the netcode. Everybody knows the netcode is bad. The first step in solving a problem is figuring out the problem, and the net code is obviously the problem. 30ping should run smooth, poorly configured or not. The state is being synchronized so fast that you cannot notice poor configuration. And if the configuration really can screw the game up that bad its still BIS's fault because nobody would have that terrible of settings by default. As everybody has been saying, if there was a clear cut solution to the lagging it would have been passed on through arma2's well connected fan base by now. But no clear cut solution has really been passed through to my knowledge. So there are deeper problems here. Remember, the netcode has not changed that much compared to ofp, but the load on it has. The load has increased dramatically since the old ofp days, and it requires a very modern upgrade to match that of other games.

    Multiplayer lag/stutter on moving objects

Thats my hypothesis at least, which makes sense out of what i've observed. I highly doubt their net-code has already reached maximum efficiency, though. It needs to work with the CPU better. A good example of them not working too well together is the very fact your frame rate is much lower with other human soldiers in the game (in a non scripted MP game). You should not have to be calculating them like they are AI, but it seems like you get a performance hit even worse than an AI based game.

    Multiplayer lag/stutter on moving objects

If you think of a MP synchronization in "state frames". Then the derivative of the state frames at that point in time is what forms your approximation of smoothness. All the above is just an abstract example. A more tangible example is when the other players just drive and walk off in a seemingly random direction when you begin to lose connection. This tells me that the approximation to generate smoothness only activates under relatively drastic conditions (such as a dieing connection) rather than at a constant pace. Inefficient net-code and bugs can be the cause of this, as the coders would probably need to cut back on the approximation to save CPU power. But that is not an excuse. Problems need solving. Games that come to mind with similar problems are avp2. AVP2 has awful net-code. Playing as an alien in that game builds intense predictive skills, not to mention playing in 3 dimensions (wall crawling : P)

What is the state of the game now?

wait tell the next patch, the last pach was very mixed, for some it did wonders, for some it made the game literally unplayable.

    Bolstering Arma 2 / OA

I think somebody already made some TvT hostage missions, if you go to armaholic you might find them in the arma 2 missions section. IMO the best gameplay that arma 2 can produce (although ineffeciently, do to the jittery mp engine) is TvT (team vs team). Its a no respawn human vs human tactical game type. Underplayed online in my opinion, but its often played on lans so the mission can be restarted quickly and no one gets bored.
  9. I have upgraded to a 5870 from a 4890. There seems to be an issue where arma2 will not use above 66% activity from my GPU. I'm not sure why, as my 4890 went to 99-100%. To confirm this is simply an issue with arma 2, I tested with SiSoftware sandra and easily pushed my GPU to 100% activity. Catalyst will take a snapshot of the activity before you just windowed out or ended an application if its still open. (I did this several times to capture the max) It averaged at 50% activity and maxed at 66%. My card does not have this problem after running a SiSoftware sandra test. This leads me to believe its a problem with arma 2, possibly the bad 1.55 patch. Does anybody else have this problem? I first noticed that I needed to run these tests when my frame rate was actually worse than my 4890 when I first started. I had to bump up my core clock to be on par with the frames it had before. That should not have to happen with a card that is clearly more powerful than the 4890 based on all the other benchmarks out there.

    Wikileaks diplomatic files.

Wow. No hole in that argument whatsoever... I'm sure everybody will think that every assassination will now be a result of wiki leaks.

    Wikileaks diplomatic files.

Its funny that you are bad mouthing someone that you have no capability of understanding. These people were already dead! This information already happened! Just because it was not public information does not mean a war wasn't waging behind the scenes. An information war between many countries has been happening for the last decade. These people would have been killed eventually, as intelligence operations have been killing people even when we didn't know it.
  12. tacticalnuggets

    losing performance!

There is a peformance degradation in the game. Things stop working and my frame rate collapses to unplayable levels. Mine takes a bit longer though, but even after making my frame rate better again by windowing out and in, I still need to restart the game after some elements of the game just simply stop working.

    China Hijacks the Internet

I'm not sure if just the Republicrats favor the inflationary tax. Both sides have been doing it for years since the dollar was no longer supported by gold.

    China Hijacks the Internet

Thats exactly what I said lol. The standard measure of GDP is flawed.

    China Hijacks the Internet

So, after the ridiculous debt that bush and obama have given us, the united states is finally falling to its knee's. Couldn't see that coming... People who still think we are above china and even the top super power are delusional. We may be the richest guy on the block, swimming in our toys and technology, but we are also the most indebted to the neighborhood. We are nothing but a homeless guy with a HUGE impossible to pay loan. Our only way of getting rid of this debt is to monetize it, which really pisses of china because there pegged yuan is dropping like a waterfall.
  16. I think your missing the point of what everyone is saying. It does not matter the statistics. It does not matter the frequency. It does not matter the variety. 1.55 is BROKEN. That is the problem. People who paid money for this game; the people who have to download this required patch for MP, are getting extremely frustrated because we cant really play the game anymore unless we revert back. The problem is most people already have 1.55 now. A new fix needs to come out within a week. And that is not because I'm pushy, its because I cant play the game without it.
  17. Confirmed! I have the same problem. Weird things stop working. Like my dialogs stop popping up when they are supposed to. My frame rate drops from 90 to 27. The only way to fix it is windowing out and back in. I'm extremely pissed off about this. How could a prob as big as this not be caught?

    Russia, return or someone new?

I really think what will make this look interesting is seeing America as the bad guy, or the offensive side of the game. I believe that the most (based on today's events) plausible scenario is the formation of a North American Union, and an invasion of the EU in the event of a currency war. So far, what people miss about OFP is that it was technically a pre-ww3 event. Now to mix it up. What if we create a present-post ww3 event with the EU defending itself from the NAU. Russia, china, and guerrillas can be independent factions. You could have a mix of maps that are untouched wilderness with small towns, main cities that are far to valuable to nuke, and post-nuclear areas. Full on nuclear war covering the globe seems less plausible now than controlled nuclear areas. To be honest, I'm sick of lame counter-insurgency operations. There is nothing exciting or epic about them. Oh, insurgent group ding dong taking on the wrath of a joint counter-insurgency operation: it just doesn't seem nail biting anymore. ---------- Post added at 01:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 AM ---------- AND LOTS and lots of wilderness. I'm talking about a map that just takes place in the mountains with a few logging roads and mainly foot trails to get around. And what could be more exciting than playing as the mexican military. The most under-used army of any game IMO

And thats why i'm absolutely laughing at you guys. You are the absolute display of ignorance and blind belief in propaganda. You know how long its going to take me to post all of the sources I have? DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG?! You guys know what the definition of plethora is right? You guys WANT to believe that these people are bad, and that what authority tells you is right, because It down right scares you that its a definite possibility their wrong or lying. :D Infact, I could smash you guys all day long. No I did not personally know hutaree, but I knew about them years before they got arrested. Everybody commented on how stupid they were to post up videos of themselves on youtube, but nobody thought they were a hate group, or planned to kill cops, they did not preach any of that. They figuratively posted parts of the bible related to self defense on their website. Thats the only thing they are guilty of, should I go get the list of items that the government claimed was going to be used to make bombs? Cause you guys will all be shocked and find yourselves to be bomb makers! I love how everyone is nit picking at each statement, tells me you guys are running out of excuses to bash libertarianism and religion. What this entire argument has been about. "We video gamers are gonna tag team him", thats what I'm imagining right now and its absolutely comical. But on a more friendly side ask yourselves this, 1. Should people be responsible for themselves? 2. Should we have a right to control other people? 3. What system of government do I honestly believe in? 4. Is it a possibility that some sociopaths (5% of the pop) are out to gain political power?

The plethora of information on the internet and a historical look at Lincolns stance. Not to mention all the states in the Union that still allowed slavery. :j:

That is absolutely not true. It is simply a myth. A myth perpetuated by the America's crappy education system. Nice try, but a short reply isn't going to solidify your stance in this argument.

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

History isn't your strong point is it... :j: The American Civil War was started when most of the agricultural states seceded from the industrial ones. It was class warfare more than anything else. Reasons for secession included, states rights, taxes, and slavery. When the federal government failed to release forts held in the seceded states, they were attacked, and the civil war had started. Many argue that slavery was the only reason the southern states where so productive, but many also believe that even without slaves, agriculture in the southern states would still be in far higher capacity, and the civil war would have started regardless. So its not really a war about slavery, but about Lincoln trying to maintain tax output profits from southern states that had seceded.

Selective reading, ah does it make it easy to correct you guys. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/05/06/national/main6464449.shtml Not only that, but guess what? The original website talked about things in the bible OH NO! I guess that means any belief in religion equals religious nuts? I guess half the united states is religious nuts for believing in an anti-christ. Militia with religious family values is all they were and ever will be. Watching the case unfold was comical. They were ACCUSED of planning to kill cops, ACCUSED of making bombs, and ACCUSED of plans to attack the government. Guess what happened? The judge decided they were not a current threat. There was never a real case for this one. Anybody who knew about this militia before it happened KNEW about the BS case. A recording was released, this was all the evidence the FBI had, and there was nothing in this recording. It was a speech that literally was not relevant to any of the charges. And anybody who listens to Mark Potok is an idiot, and I wont even articulate that any further. Hate Tracker/Gossip boy has gone on a rampage against any 2nd amendment advocating groups, and anybody who they perceive as "right wing", even libertarians. http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/crime/2010/04/02/bts.michigan.militia.attorney.cnn.html

Stereotype of americans? What stereotype, there is the "typical fat american", "stupid american", "red neck american", "patriotic american"? Why do you trust someone having all power rather than everyone controlling their own lives? There have been thousands of civil wars throughout time, and thousands of times where a civil war could have saved more of the people that lived there (funny, violence solving something). If peace is an option then i'm for it, right now, peace is an option. But what happens when peace isn't an option? Will you just let them put the chains on you as you work the corporatist farms?

And what good is a powerful military with no money or fuel to run it? Is the collapse of the soviet union not an example of a powerful nation falling to its knee's? I'm sure its easy to be ignorant of the possibility. Red dawn was obviously a propaganda film, an entertaining one at that. Perhaps you cannot grasp the entire picture I have described, not just the invasion part?
