Nvidia announces the GTX Titan Z - Only $3000
onlyrazor replied to jblackrupert's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
PC Gamer managed to fit four Titans into their ludicrous PC. Four Zs would be about $12.000, which I think is $2k more than the entire rig cost. All in the name of science, of course. -
In my (uneducated and probably not that important) opinion, I wouldn't mind if the main core of programmers spent the next two years until Arma 4 preproduction starts working on the engine as much as possible. The mechanics are the important part of the mechanics-map synthesis that makes Arma Arma.

The trappings of a capitalist society is that you will, at some point, have to pursue your greatest (financial) success and you'd be stupid not to do it. Everybody gets to be a pessimist on the internet. BIS fans, of all people, should know that you don't get a truly good Arma game until a year after its release.

They also offered refunds for The WarZ and that terribly broken cricket game. I mean, they were pretty broken, but it still counts. Anyway, we could probably conclude with that.

Uncompressed textures and sound performance boost like in Titanfall?

Didn't one of the later CoDs have a preposterous RAM requirement because of a whole lot of junk code or something? -
Thief 4: Yet another console port turd

I did and I have to say it's very well executed. The default KB controls are a tad clunky, but in my opinion the missions and mechanics are solid. -
Upcoming tactical shooter from Blackfoot Studios: Ground Branch

That perspective makes the optics look rather oversized. Looking forward to the progress, though. -
True, but it's a nice surprise after my earlier memories of the game.

All this talk of BF4's bugginess inspired me to go back and try BF3 again. Updated the Battlelog plugins and Origin, launched the game. Game failed to connect to EA Online. Relaunched browser, verified game installation. Launched game. PC Bluescreened. PC promptly restarted. Game repaired, TCP/UDP ports manually opened. Firewall disabled. Didn't work. Clicked on the BF3 game icon in Origin. Pressed 'Play'. Launched game from the Battlelog the button linked me to. Game worked. Time elapsed: ~40 minutes. Gameplay experienced: 0 minutes. To the game's credit, though, the people I played with were very pleasant for the most part.

Thief 4: Yet another console port turd
onlyrazor replied to jblackrupert's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
My impressions from the trailers would imply that this the game is detailed and meticulously produced, but uninspired for the most part. I don't care much for that swooping stealth roll that Garrett can apparently perform with great speed in any direction. I'll stick with The Dark Mod for now. -
I had the Polish Hussars in mind when I typed up the reply, but since they're a historical oddity since most hussars were lanceless light cav, I decided not to acknowledge them.
-
That entire post was a good one, but everyone knows that the Uhlans were the guys that used lances. These mil-sim types don't know their cav.
-
I'm more disappointed by the fact this is the third full release without an Arnold Schwarzenegger player model. Can't get more sculpted than that.
-
Don't need Arma 4 for that. https://www.google.com/#q=arma+dance+battle

The action activation areas are still really tiny. I once lost my gear because I dropped it in an elevated container outpost and couldn't pick it back up for some reason. That and the fact you still have to slam your face into a ladder at 45° downwards to get the Climb action.

things that are still waiting to be added to the game which are confirmed...
onlyrazor replied to Tyl3r99's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
That's not the question here. The question here is "who here thinks there are similar games where the AI performs better than in Arma?" There are probably a few, of course, but probably not of Arma's scale. Speaking as somebody with about zero game development experience, I hope that they take five years after the expansion pack off and just work on reworking the engine(?) until they've stripped out all the junk code(??) and achieved glorious optimization(!). -
Kingdom Come: a realistic RPG by the former creators of Mafia and Arma

And also die-hard provincialists. Not a bad thing, mind you. -
Will recent high sales affect the future of BI games (ArmA4)?
onlyrazor replied to Alabatross's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
BIS have big plans for Arma 4. It's going to be set in North Korea and feature authentic, on-site researched locales. (are we allowed to joke about the Lemnos thing yet?) -
Judging by the surge in popularity for space games, I think we're not far off from getting a "The Space Z" very, very soon.
-
I thought so, but I figured DF was a realism joke not worth passing up.
-
For those among the BIS Forum users that appreciate complexity and ultra-realism, Dwarf Fortress is definitely worth checking out. None of that futuristic technology rubbish, either :p
-
If I recall correctly, underhanded throwing is assigned to the Middle Mouse Button by default. Crosshairs are a part of action mode, so if you want to avoid them, you can try joining Classic or Realism servers.
-
Remember, Win comes after Survive and Adapt. They've already done the first part.

Slightly offtopic, but they've finally made one:

You know, there may yet be a market for Air Tank Simulation games...
