  1. Decrease of speed is good imo. Slows down the game. Vanilla is to fast paced with people bouncing around hipshooting everywhere. Reminds me of CoD WaW. Regarding vehicles it's a good idea to be able to exit and enter them which is not possible at the moment. Bleeding to death was removed because you could bandage yourself in less than a second. My suggestion to this was to slow down the animation to about 7-8 seconds, but this was never considered, instead it was completely removed. So much of this have been discussed at the board for the last six months and it's great to see - excuse my language - to see TWI pull their thumbs out from their asses and do something. When the early complaints rushed in Ramm's response was basically that it didn't have to be addressed because the hardcore fans we were just presenting 0,01% of all gamers. Ironically, Sion Lenton used this argument aswell regarding ''OFP'' Red River if I remember it correctly.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

I really hope it will be possible to lower the quality of the water; shadows, lightning etc. This should give a boost since water takes up a huge part of the whole environment.

Regarding the system requirements, are these minimum requirements or optimal requirements?
  5. The campaign. Looking forward for the stealth elements aswell.

    Please don't make this M

I think the opposite. There must be more blood, dismemberment, massgraves, and horrible situations. I sometimes feel that battles in arma feels to clean to be 'real'. I also believe that anyone who really want to play Arma 3 will get the game. In the same way as people get their hands on games like GTA. Ratings does not change that much I believe. As little as the alcohol laws stop teenagers to consume alcohol. If they want it, they'll ask their parents, or older friends to get it and get drunk.
  7. Arma 3 is not far away. I am not sure if I have money enough to buy myself a computer that will be able to handle A3. Fact two, I have never been able to experience arma 2. Fact is though, that I need a new computer now and as soon as I have the money I will buy me new one. I am a student, so do not have much money. Question is though... how many players will actually keep playing arma 2 after arma3's release? Wont a great deal of players dissapear? How many are generally active in arma 2/ao MP? How many people actually play the game mp and sp? I am really looking forward to get myself a computer that can handle arma 2 (my comp right now only have minimum requirements so I simply dont want to play it) and I look forward to re-create some of my over 40 singleplayer missions that were never released as a campaign, mostly because of various problems with my computer. Its on its last legs. Problem is.. I don't know if the effort will be worth it after arma 3s release because I don't know how many people that will be playing it, creating mods.. just keeping the game alive.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

Ok. Here is the deal. I do not know to much about computers and I know that there is a lot of people on this board that have a quite good amount of knowledge. I have been looking around at a Swedish site which goal is to build and sell gamingcomputers for a decent price. They can also custombuild a computer for you, and sending them questions, suggestions and so on, does not cost a thing. With other words; I can give them an idea and and they'll fix it for me. Obviously, I could just tell them that I want a computer that can run Arma 3, or pay for their best rigg, but that will certainly not be the most cheapest way...I may even get things that are not required. So I'd would like some suggestions on a custom build computer for arma 3. Down bellow I have randomly picked some of the computers that is found on the site. The first one is the most expensive computer I found. If we modify these computers, what would have to be modified? Because i reckon they're not good enough....I would appreciate suggestions on how to make it possible to run arma 3. With run, I mean ability to at least run it at medium. Dont know if there is any specifik system req for arma 3 though. Here it is.

  10. Well, I really need a new computer because I want to play A2. The system requirements that have been released for A3.. is those requirements minimum? Maximum? Due to the fact that I need a really good computer to run A3 I wonder if I should ditch A3 play A2 instead - but then - how long will it be alive? Is it even worth for me to re-create and release a campaign for A2 in 2012? Or is it waste of time? The best thing would be if it was possible for me to buy a new computer in a matter of a few weeks. But I am not sure what is required for arma 3.
  11. The reason why these shooters are popular is because they're accessible, immersive, and simple. It's games that most people can just pick up and play instead of spending weeks and even months to properly 'master' the game. It focus more on entertainment than realism. Arma is to complex compared to those games. Everything from the controls, to how the weapons work is radically different. The whola approach is different aswell. In order to cater to the mainstream the arma series would have become the opposite of what it is now. If it became the opposite, I would ditch the title and a lot more people would. Tripwire did slight changes with RO2 and look now; the community started to fall a part. Active players was 10,000 in the beginning now its ~3000. User reviews is full of complaints. Forums is full of complaints and it still is even six months after release. Now Tripwire has to release a 'Classic Mode' to appeal to the old audience again or what is left of it. If the same thing was done to arma (but even worse) the old fanbase would fade out while CoD and BF still would crush any attempt from BIS to compete with them. A business like BIS can't just magically go from simulation to arcade and expect to win. Doing both (e.i trying to do a simulation with CoD elements) is just going to be another Codemaster. So completing with those title is a really bad idea imo. Plus, for what reason should the game copy the mainstream formula? What's the purpose? There are already hundreds of other games doing just that. Arma have been built on innovation and realism for over a decade. Leaving that idea would be a real shame. Its a stupid idea imo. What the arma games can do though is to improve the multiplayer in other ways that goes in line with the arma's own formula. For instance, improving the close quarter combat and to improve MP experience in public matches.

Codies up to something: OFP 4?

Correct. The DR/RR community is dead since a few months ago. There is barely no activity at all on the board. Some of the big DR modders officialy told the others that they were leaving, others were banned. I have no clue of how many people that were banned but since CM tried to keep the complaints down to a minimum before Red Rivers release by censoring posts and banning people I believe there is quite a lot of people that were kicked out in the cold. The few people that praised the game all the time left after it was announced that the whole series got scrubbed. The Devs abandoned the ship directly after its release as with DR. The Co-op is dead, as the co-op forum. In Tech Support there is various complaints about people who have problems to buy/install DLCs, install the game, connect and host games, and update. Tells pretty much. Not even the off-topic forum is very active anymore. There are indeed some serious fractions in the community. If Codemasters are about to start another tactical shooter-kinda game I reckon that the name Operation Flashpoint will make people puke rather than clap their hands. Dragon Rising sold 1.2million copies worldwide and Red River have reached just roughly over 300,000 copies worldwide according to vgchartz. With Arma, Red Orchestra, Operation Takedown, and Iron Front, its going to be rough for them no matter if they release another game called Operation Flashpoint or not. There is obviously no place for their tactical game, nor any kind of action game (bodycount lol) unless they come up with something very, very innovative, or compete (and win) directly against these titles.

I am going to buy a new computer as soon as I get the money. Is this something worth buying? What can I expect if I buy it for arma 3? The computer itself is not that expensive btw. System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Processor model: Intel Core i7-2600 Processor speed: 3,4Ghz (max turbo 3,8GHz) Graphic card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 Ti Dedicated graphic memory: 1GB DDR5 Core: 4 Chipset: Intel H67 Harddrive type: SATA 7200 RPM

    Its a mess.

Seriously, arma is a mess. The AI is highly retarded. When I order a chopper to land it insist to land at a particular location - in the trees, resulting a crash. When I contruct simple waypoints the helicopters simply crash into mountains and all that crap. I placed 6 satches charges on my unit. When export it to single mission there is only one. There is a lot of stuff that simply puts me off the chair while playing this game. Its not that enjoyable anymore. Its a mess. A helicopter shouldnt need a script in order to avoid crashing, and my satchescharges shouldnt magically dissapear either.
  15. I doubt many Roosters (including myself) consider RO OST as realistic, but compared to RO2 it is away more realistic in many ways, in others its not. My opinion about RO2 is quite the opposite. RO OST was stiff? Yes, and RO2 is really a lot more fast paced than RO1. This is not jus an opinion, its a fact and it can all be verified. You can sprint up and down from stairs faster than Bolt, quickaim, take a hit and bandage yourself in one second. The HUD details are increased with tactical view and stuff like that. The lockdown timer really keep the pace up, increasing the run and gun behaviour. People run around blasting their MkB or hipshooting the MG, while others rely on their fancy gadgets, and perks such as ability to throw grenades longer or aim more steady. The pace is so high that there is often really no need to teamchat. The map design is terrible. Every map is really small and tunnelshooter like. Some maps are unplayable if there is more than 20 people on it. The game mechanics really ruins the whole game. Its a shoot and die spawnfest. Its a twitching shoooter where every bullet and unlock counts. No long lasting battles, just quickmatches that reminds me of playing COD WAW. You can say all you want that RO2 leaves RO1 behind but the simple truth is that for anyone that expects RO2 to be a spiritual sequel are dead wrong. Its a game that tried to be itself and at the same time trying to reach out to the arcade crowd. Its not much more realistic or more team based than RO1 at all. Its really the opposite IMO. Now im just waiting for the RO CLASSIC mode to be released.

    Postal 3

So, running with scissors were talking about Postal 3 at the E3 conference. In my opinion, it looks quite good. I am a little bit worried about the fact that it will be released to console for the first time ever, but I bet it's because they want to increase their market. As long as it doesn't affect the PC version, it's fine. So, who's going to buy this? Have you played postal 2? Maybe the orginal postal? What's your best moment? Go rage. :D Interview with Vince Desi BA8nsvpA7FQ& E3 Trailer m9yBVfzFgMM Taliban gameplay AHZWIPb5-9A Good VS bad path (better video quality than the others) D07MqaOTn3k& IGN ARTICLE http://pc.ign.com/articles/890/890708p1.html

    Ragdolls = In .... Realistic wounds ???

I would really like a more realistic level of gore. IMO arma feels away to ''clean''. The game portrays war after all. I want more dust, dirt, grime, blood and gore! However, I do NOT want it to be overdone. It would also be a nice touch with blood spill and wounds. This would mean that it wouldn't be possible to put 20 rounds into the body of an enemy and then take his clothes and use it as a disguise.

    Funny & interesting videos

This.. And ''i've taken a hit to my head. it's nothing serious, but I am bleeding - badly'' is from arma 2? Z8DN8Uqq6K4
  19. [side,"HQ"] sideChat "Move to your position and wait for further orders!" Is it possible to change the custom name ''Crossroad'' to something else? Because it seems like I don't get it working. I've tried Name sideChat "Test 1-2" but the name I want doesn't show up.
  20. Well.. is there anything I can do about it? Right now, there's a track that I play. I tried to use it as a soundeffect but it didnt work. But as far as I know, environment sounds is always activated even if you reload. How do I add these?

    Postal 3

Warning: Postal 3 coming for christmas! http://www.runningwithscissors.com/pre-order-postal-3 :bounce3:
  22. Thanks. Worked really, really well. There is actually one more thing I wonder. I use a certain background voice /ambient effects for some missions I am creating by using a trigger that repeat itself over and over agian. There is one problem with this: If I die while playing, and then load the game, the trigger wont be activated agian. This means that if someone dies when playing my mission the music/sound will dissapear.
  23. Oh, thanks. I will try that!
  24. I'd like know how I can spawn objects/units when a mission is running. I noticed that you can change condition of presence to false. However, what do I do if I want this particular object to be present later in the mission? If I remember it correctly, in the mission Camping in OFP CWC there was an event where a few tents were spawned.

The trouble with getting people into Arma

Regarding the accessibility in arma I think It's good as it is. Sure, tuturials and such could be implemented into the game, and the game do feel like a mess in some cases.. just by comparing it to the old OFP - especially in the campaign area. But at the same time I wouldn't like less complex gameplay. If more gamers would enjoy arma it's formula would fade out into the sand..
