    Sporadic Freezing/Stuttering

Try reducing your page file to minimum and see if that helps, also try artificially limiting maxmem to 3-4gb. Which memory allocator are you using? How much ram does your machine normally use when playing? I have 8gb and set maxmem to 8192mb with the tbbmalloc allocator, I regularly see ram usage top 5.5gb in-game (recorded with afterburner osd) but no slowdowns. I have an 800mb page file on the my ssd but it doesn't get used.
  2. MSI afterburner OSD, I set it to plot fps, gpu and cpu core usage/temperatures and ram usage. Obviously I'm not going to get 45+ in kavala or any of the major towns unless the server is sufficiently empty but I didn't see it dip much below the figures stated; this was on EUTW.NET PVP Warfare - EU#3 running blastcore, jsrs3 and cba.

With that much ram you can pretty much disable the page file, it shouldn't be using the page file anyway. Was it arma3.exe that was causing the hard faults or another process?
  4. I was playing on a 60 man server at a constant 45-50 fps this afternoon, yes I prefer fps to be as high as possible but as we all know the server limits client fps, nothing you can do about that. However the game does run fluid, occasional slow downs are not normal and a symptom of a temporary bottleneck in the machine, in this instance the most likely culprit is the hard disk not the software.

Hard faults are Microsoft's description of the page file being used. Basically your machine is running out of ram and starting to write data to the page file on the hard disk. How much ram do you have? Use the maxmem start-up command to limit the amount of ram used by arma to 1gig below what you have installed and it should stop paging so much.

    ARMA3 on this pc ?

A desktop with a 4770k/4790k will run it better but if you need the portability of the laptop then you're stuck with it. It should run it ok, as above you might need to reduce some of the cpu heavy graphics options like view and object distance.
  7. No chance? None what so ever? Just because they occur to you on a certain mission doesn't mean that they will apply to everyone elses installation of arma3. By your logic, because I can play arma3 without stuttering then you must be able to. I would imagine that TrapMacker is not running a heavily modded version of the game, more than likely vanilla as it was a test install on his dads laptop. Instead of posting unhelpful responses as to what could be causing the issue, why don't you offer advice or not bother posting at all? Disregarding timewarps (non)advice above I would still suspect the hard disk to be the primary cause of the slowdowns. Run resmon.exe (type it into the run command box) to open the windows resource monitor, click on the disk tab and look at the disk queue length chart. Run arma in window mode so you can see the resource monitor, if the chart spikes when arma suffers a slowdown then it is the disk streaming data, if the chart isn't spinking during the slow downs then you need to look at other sources of the problem. It could also be to do with the cpu power saving mode, as it is a laptop it may be set to throttle the cpu as much as possible in order to save power. Check the power options in control panel and see if it is throttling cpu.

I don't think task manager will show the problem sufficiently, run resmon.exe and watch the disk tab if the disk queue lengths spike in relation to the sturrering then that could point towards the hard disk. It might be worth installing defraggler, that will allow you to only defrag the arma3 folder (right click and defrag folder from submenu) so you don't need to wait for the whole disk to run through.

Are you running arma3 + mods from an ssd or mechanical hard disk? If it's a mechanical disk have you defragged it recently? Try using resource monitor to see what the hard disk is doing when the slowdowns occur, it's possible that the game is simply waiting for data to be streamed of the disk.
  10. That is the sort if spec laptop than can play arma3, it will still be a lot slower than proper desktop machine. The slow downs could be due to hard disk activity, the laptop only has a conventional hard disk not an ssd. Because arma3 is continually streaming large amounts of data off the hard disk it can sometimes take a second or two to catch up with a slower hard disk which results in a momentary fps drop. Because the ssd is faster it doesn't suffer slow downs when streaming. I never get random slow downs and it's consistently smooth, fps does drop in mp when during fire fights in cities like kavala but that is generally down to the server.
  11. You won't be able to overclock your laptop. Even if the bios was capable of overclocking it would certainly not go to 4ghz, that's a 100% increase in clock speed which as far as I'm aware is not possible anyway.
  12. Swap either processor for an unlocked i5, overclock it to 4+ghz and you will get as good performance as most unless you're running super high resolution. Not saying the amd won't work but better performance can be had from intel. If money is tight look to pick up an i5 2500k and suitable board for around £150, it will outperform the amd.
  13. You may get 30fps in single player with medium settings, there are so many variables that can affect things, best thing to do is grab arma3 whilst it costs 50% and if you don't like it then it's not the end of the world to have wasted the money, if you do like it then you can assess you current performance and look to see which upgrade paths will give you best bang for your buck. Overclocking is not dangerous as long as you are in control of the dangerous variables (heat and voltage), heat can be mitigated by ensuring you cpu cooling is as best you can make it (definitely worth spending money on a decent air cooler assuming your case has good enough airflow to feed it), voltage is a bit of a lottery as some processors like more voltage to overclock more than others. I can't comment on this, but as a free tweak/upgrade it can't hurt to test and see if it improves performance noticeably. Adding a faster gpu to your underpowered cpu will not give you higher framerates. You are trying to play arma3 on a laptop that is below minimum recommended specification. The hard truth is that you need to upgrade to better machine in order to play the game. A gtx660 will run arma3 just fine, I can run on very high settings with mine with good fps; however I am running it with an i5 2500k@4.7ghz unlike Trapmacker who is trying to run arma3 on a neutered 2ghz amd processor laptop :(
  14. Not sure on the Huron but I can view most of the cargo hold in a mohawk using my opentrack setup. It can be a little tricky learning how to adjust both translation and rotation because it starts reversing the axis movement after a certain point and you have to lean the opposite way to how you would naturally.
  15. Unfortunately tweaks aren't really going to help you (if they even help anyone!). In my experience low view distance will only really affect gameplay in the air, generally most ground based contacts are within a couple of hundred metres. Obviously sniping may cause issues but the game doesn't revolve around sniping. If you can overclock your processor it should help things, I believe the gains from overclocking AMD processors is slightly lower than those from overclocking intel but still worth doing.
  16. You will have to play on each server and find ones that give you good performance, I honestly don't think you'll be getting playable fps even if you do upgrade the cpu; the low clock speed and lack of L3 cache are going to affect things pretty badly.
  17. Comparing multiplayer fps is not a good indicator of performance, I was playing cti last night, at times I had 70fps, at others I had 25; on average it was around 45. Multiplayer fps is limited by the server fps so some will give more than others. Go to the steam workshop and subscribe to the altis benchmark, run that through and play with settings till you get the highest average fps. That then gives you a baseline on which to judge your computer's performance. I get around 62fps average with a combination of high and very high settings with a 3.5km view distance.
  18. Not great, it's a hyperthreading dual core with 2ghz base speed. I think it will struggle but might be worth a shot?
  19. Are you still using a laptop? You won't really be able to upgrade to anything that will play arma3! edit: as far as I'm aware, after doing 5 minutes research the absolute fastest processor you can physically fit into the motherboard socket with the same 35w TDP is a Phenom II N970 which is a 2.2ghz quad core, if you push the TDP up to 45w (which risks then burning out the powersupply and/or motherboard if it's not been designed to run it) you could theoretically fit a Phenom II X940 BE which is a 2.4ghz quad core. Note that the laptop versions of the phenom processors do not have any turbo functionality or L3 cache which is probably why it performs so badly. You will not be able to play arma3 on your laptop, upgrade or not!
  20. Once you've overclocked the cpu it will allow the gpu to breathe properly and return decent fps, it will still be dragging it's heels in multiplayer though.
  21. That's a better system than the other one you posted, however that cpu cannot be overclocked and you will still need to add a decent graphics card to play arma3. Don't be scared of building your own computer, it's like building Lego and there is more than enough information in google to learn how to do it :)
  22. Yup that's good for arma, but it can't be overclocked so you're limiting yourself immediately by not buying a K series processor. Honestly if you're looking to spend that amount of money on a single component then you would be better getting an i5 2500k and spending the left over on a faster gpu. For £250 you can get the i5 , a decent motherboard to overclock it with and a gtx660ti/670!
  23. Yes it does, but keep it within sensible voltage levels and you're looking at a 10 year life span instead of 12. The hardware would be long obsolete and likely upgraded by then :)
  24. I don't think it will run arma3 very well and for €500 you could probably build/buy an i5 2500k machine that will actually play arma with decent frame rates.
  25. It will be better than your cpu now, however when it gets up to around 4ghz it will be a lot faster! They overclock so easily that it's silly not to do so :)
