  1. I think its justified to say BIS gives us our money's worth and to ATI, Nividia, Intel and AMD, the ArmA series is one of the main targets besides some flight sims for all my PC hardware upgrades.

I never expect a PC-only sim to be glossy and finished on release because we'd never get it and also developement, time costs would outway content... hmm i guess anyway.

Its a shame on some of the game sites that ArmA 2 doesnt get a mention.

Thanks to BIS and the beta testers for 1.60 :)

  2. 2nd that Recta DP and i suggest a small laptop until Dslyecxi prints and if he ever does considering whats happening with digital books. I have a 12" notebook which i use for this great guide and flight sims etc.

By the way i use my TIR5 as infantry on the move heaps better now and wouldnt be without it especially when crossing a open area. Just had to stick with it and tweak :) thanks Dslyecxi

  3. Whats the condition of the disc and have you given it a polish with a dvd cleaning cloth. If there is a scratch or blemish then try taking it to a video rental shop and get it machine polished in one of the disc cleaners... they look like a pc.

Is your dvd drive faulty which i doubt unless that is the message is different every time and then i would be looking at that.

If all that is verified and you still get the same message all the time i'd be looking for another dvd to install from so if a friend has one try that but use your license key.

Transfer all your dvd content to one of your hard drives and install from there but youll have to look up how to do that.

At wits end ! .... Im not sure if thisll work with a dvd purchase but it should becuase i read in these forums that you can get the install files from anywhere so long as you have a legit license key.

Anyway try downloading the sprocket install files to your HD and install from there.... ill pm you a link unless you can find one closer and youll need the setup.exe and all the bin files from setup01.bin - setup07.bin. The md5 setup and sub files are to check the downloaded files but ive never used it so youll have to look up md5 and how to use it if you want to verify the files downloaded.

    pm sent...

  4. Patch 1.00 - 1.09 brings all versions up to 1.09

Quote:This is the official update for Arma 2 from 1.00 version to 1.09.

    http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=510%3Aarma-2-patch-1-00-to-1〈=en

If you have OA then do the OA 1.59 which is all inclusive complete patch for ArmA 2 , OA , BAF, PMC. ( if i read it correct ArmA 2 has to be up to 1.05 at least)

    http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=511%3Aarma2oa-a-rft-patch-1〈=en

Then the ArmA 2 1.10 patch unless theres a newer all inclusive patch out to replace the above 1.59 that includes 1.10... wont be long for this one im guessing.. hoping.

  5. Im guessing your installation files are corrupt or your disc/drive is faulty so can you tell us what OA you have... DvD , Sprocket, Steam.

Win7, Always right click on install file and "Run as Administrator"

    Check disc surface.

Try a different drive to install from.

Copy files from disc to hd and install from hd save location.

Get install files from a friend etc. which is ok by BIS as long as key is legit.... i posted a friend these files on a usb and he returned the usb when finnished.

  6. If its a sprocket download like i have make sure you right mouse click on the install exe and select "run as administrator" and also im wondering why your install is trying to install a 1.06 patch exe.

After a fresh install which means deleting anything relating in install path and also in C:\Users\your pc's name\Documents\..

1.59 is the only patch you need at this stage and again make sure you right click the patch exe and select "run as administrator"

    http://www.arma2.com/index.php?option=com_rokdownloads&view=file&Itemid=20&id=511%3Aarma2oa-a-rft-patch-1〈=en

If you sort this out let us know what gives and if not get back to us with more info like

What type of install ie: Steam, DVD, Sprocket etc.

What the install exe is called... mines just "setup.exe"

Can you install something else as a test to the same drive.

  7. As far as im aware the game isnt region locked and if you look at some Ebay sellers (who have %100 feedback) they ship worldwide.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Arma-2-II-Reinforcements-Game-Computer-PC-DVD-New-/150600865604?pt=AU_PC_Video_Games_Games&hash=item231082d744

Myself, i get BIS's games via Sprocket so BIS gets more spendula and when i finnish the download i copy the files to a USB stick and label it. If i lose my serial number i can retrieve it in my account at sprocket.

    http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=11&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2

note... i have ArmA 2 DVD bought in Aussie and my Operation Arrowhead and Reinforcements are downloads from Sprocket and everything installs ok just make sure it all goes into the same directory as ArmA 2.

    PC Setup Sub Forum ?

Ive found that the whole ArmA series requires a fairly quick pc and a good knowledge of setting all that up but I notice that the PC hardware thread has over 7,000 replies..

    http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=72181

I know its a big ask but can i suggest a "ArmA 2 & OA - PC Setup" sub forum that i think would be easier to use then a single thread for hardware and could include supporting software issues like for instance...

ArmA 2 & OA PC Hardware

ArmA 2 & OA PC Overclocking

ArmA 2 & OA PC Supporting Software

ArmA 2 & OA PC Peripherals

Im sure there would be many others who would agree that itd be a very interesting and usefull sub forum. Thanks :)

  10. I ordered a throat mic here:http://headsetgadgets.com/products_nt3.html after doing a lot of homework and reading reviews. The nt3 is the one i ordered after reading many good reviews from paintball sites, but will be using it for PC gaming.I am waiting for it to arrive and will post here after i have used it in game.

Yeah good research and looking forward to your post also.

  11. Very Important Note for Win7:

Installs, Patchs are executed as admin... right click on file to be run and select, "Run As Administrator"

Uninstall the DEMO for sure if its loaded and any other ArmA installs.

Delete any extra ArmA 2 files left in install location plus here.. drive:/users/your name/documents.

A fresh install into drive:/program files/Bohemia Interactive/ArmA 2 (was done at 1st install but any reinstall has to be done thorough in this case)

    Arma 2 is installed first

OA is next and goes into the same

    Next is 1.57 patch

    Note from FAQ:

I have ARMA 2: Combined Operations, but I only see patches for ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead. Do I need to install both?

No, you only need to install the patch for ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead as it includes the patch for ARMA 2 in it. The patch for ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead is the same for ARMA 2: Combined Operations.

Also from OA 1.57 patch dev notes

This patch includes the BAF 1.02 update and PMC 1.01 update and ARMA 2 1.05to1.08 update and latest BattlEye for both titles.

Now that should work and why doesnt it ? :(

    Is .exe corrupt

    1. Corrupt DVD very maybe... Dont know about DVD's ?? but as far as i know you dont need the actual disks you bought to install as BIS only requires a legit key.

    2. Patch is corrupt... download a new OA 1.57 patch from BIS or other trusty ArmA site.

Step 1: Uninstall ArmA2 and OA. Make Backups of your Modfolders.

Step 2: Install ArmA2 and run it once.

Step 3: Install OA. When asked where to install to, install it into the same folder as ArmA2.

Step 4: Install BAF (if applicable)

Step 5: Install PMC (if applicable)

Step 6: Install the latest OA Patch (patches also A2 + BAF + PMC).

soz i had to rehash install procedures but this is wierd...

maybe try the RC1.59 patch as a test

  12. I take by updater youve been downloading the right patch

    http://www.arma2.com/index.php?Itemid=20&option=com_rokdownloads&view=folder〈=en

    ArmA 2 is at bottom and is 1.0 - 1.07 to 1.08

soz.. you did that :) and also as admin i take it and did you delete the .cfg files in.. drive/users/name/my documents/arma 2 ,before a fresh install. I would delete the whole file in your case and any other time its just the .cfg files.

  13. I dont get any probs so im guessing here... this isnt for Steam and i dont know your specs soooo...

    1. Before a complete fresh reinstall make sure you uninstall the demo and main game plus delete the Arma 2 file which holds config and profile files for Arma and Arma OA. If you see anything in there to do with the demo delete that too.

    Mines in .... C:\Users\Sandow\Documents\ArmA 2 .... delete ArmA 2

    2. If you dont have a lot of ram make sure the partition where your page swap file or virtual mem is has enough memory free so it can do its thing.

    3. defrag the install drive if its not a ssd.

    4. Stop any programs that dont need to be running and install ArmA 2 etc. as administrator.

    5. Arma 2, OA, PMC etc. should all install into the ArmA 2 file and mines all in C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2

    6. Try game on low settings and if it crashes i doubt wether its ArmA and probably hardware driver or actual hardware limit.

  14. Could be a placebo effect but ArmA 2 seems smoother and the mouse pointer is definately way smoother with less blur.

    FPS .... 53 , 4000m most settings on high

Screen Refresh .... 120hz has to be better then 60hz even just for long term viewing. I hated going to 60hz with my first LCD after my Trinitron.

Input Lag ... i have mine on straight thru which could also be the reason why things appear smoother. *Some 120hz lcd's dont have straight thru option !

I still get roughly the same FPS with the bigger screen so im happy with this screen.

  15. Ive just bought a 23" 1920x1080 120hz monitor with straight thru input option LG 2363D (non LED and had a 22" Samsung prior) and if you get one do uninstall the video driver before plugging in and then plug in, boot and reinstall the video driver as my ATI driver even though the same version installed differently to suit this type of screen and its cable (have 3d options etc. now).. couldnt get to Win7 login password until i did this.

Because i have the monitor set at 120hz in Win7 im still not sure yet if thats the case in ArmA 2 game play or i have to edit something which i guess will be the case. COD BF2 BC2 have this option in thier video options

    UPDATE

Ive just checked the Arma2.cfg , ArmA2OA.cfg files in Documents/ArmA2 and with notepad and refresh is set at 60hz so ill change that to 120hz and check things out :D

  17. Hi, I am looking or just wondering if there are any clans that are like actual military members that make up the community. Im not trying to be all stingy and feel special but when I was younger and played a lot of Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2 and they had a couple clans that were military members only. And now that Im actually in the Army Infantry I wanted to play with them. Just curious if there were any that existed, thanks.

I recruit for OGN ArmA and recommend adding your location to your posts to make things easier, ta.

CitizenSoldier yes there are clans that have predominantly military or ex military members and if you live in Australia you'll find one at AusArmA http://ausarma.org/ which is a central hub for all ArmA clans in aussie including OGN. They also take in non-military if the member has the right attitude. :D
