  1. Hello Arma III players! Been out of the Arma universe for quite some time and getting back into it. I've since acquired a new X55 HOTAS stick and throttle and I am having problems setting up the controls. Arma sees both pieces of hardware. Under controls > controller > it lists both as "saitek pro flight x-55 rhino throttle" and right under that "saitek pro flight x-55 rhino stick". Okay, one throttle, one stick. One issue is when I go to set up something on the throttle. It'll say, under Assigned keys, "saitek pro Stick Y-Axis" for an axis example, or "saitek pro Stick Btn. #20" for a switch. It never says throttle! Now I normally set up controls using the Rhino software which is great, I've had lots of success with it and it works. But for some reason Arma is seeing my throttle as the stick even though, as I've said before, it states throttle in the controller part of the menu. Just as an example, my SW2 switch on the throttle, and the gray 8-way hat "up" position on the stick both say "saitek pro Stick Btn. #20" when set to something. Never says throttle. Can you tell I'm having a difficult time explaining this situation! So, in short, Arma sees both units except when I'm trying to assign controls (it displays only "saitek pro stick ..."). I've tried the stupid stuff that shouldn't have to be done like only using USB 2.0 ports or using only USB 3.0 ports. Doesn't make a difference. Why doesn't it differentiate between the throttle and the stick?!?! Until then, I'll strictly be a keyboard commander while flying around (best part of Arma in my opinion!). Any help is greatly appreciated. I will stuff a ticket into Bohemia's support but thought I'd start here in the forums. Seems like all I see is problems with the analogue collective.

  3. I've been playing this for a few months now on Alpha, then Beta under the Dev-Branch and still have not successfully switched to my 'next' target. For example, in a heli, got a column of enemy vehicles, got a target square over one of them but want to switch my target. I tried TAB and also using other binded keys with no luck. What am I doing wrong or is this something that isn't working yet?

    In Steam, under the Community selection, on bottom of list is the "Market". There's been no buying/selling so there is no pricing yet and no history. But you can view your cards from this part of Steam as well.

    DVD Version turning into Beta Version ??

    Ahh, 100kb/s isn't so bad. That's the maximum dl speed for me being rural; receiving my bandwidth/connection via radio waves to/from a tower 15 miles from my locale. I've been on the DEV branch for a month or so and it's been eating my nightly download time but it's worth it. I thought Europe had super high speed cheap internet?
  6. I agree. I played Arma 2 here and there, found it clunky but still fun. Arma 3 is becoming an amazing milsim, it's still early, hell, it hasn't officially released yet so keep your cool. I've paid more for games that were 100X shite, even if Arma 3 hadn't turned out to be what I would consider a fantastic game, I'd still feel positive towards it. Give it time and give the community the time it'll require to release the addons that will put it over the top.

    Overall Goodness

    I've been poking around in the editor and some single player missions with the dev build now for a couple months. All I can say is wow, it is coming together very strong. I gave up making missions then because everytime I logged in, they were broken and I'm not very savvy at making fixes (or patient enough) but now especially with the class name changes settling down/finalized, I feel I can begin again. I use an nVidia graphics card with 4 ports and use 3 to have a 5980 x 1080 resolution with the Track IR and it feels so immersive in all the vehicles available and on foot, the PiP is a bit distorted last time I checked but will only use the ones in the subs while under the water. I have experienced FPS gains since updating the graphics drivers and the optimizations BI has done. However it does drop to 19 FPS (lowest I recall lately) when there's a lot going on but it's still very playable. Settings are mostly maxed out except for view distances. So just saying, great job BI.   8. Very nice mission, I tried it out on Chenarus, Utes, Daiuyo (sp?) and of course Stratis. Very good job and will be enjoying it alot and will be following this one. One nuisance I had when I CP'd a helo, it spawned right next to the Captain in Stratis. The helo was placed where the rotors were instantly damaged because of the trees and scaffolding that was within the radius of the blades. I agree that being able to repair,rearm and refuel should be at the top of the to do list. When I played Chenarus, I too had Idea#2 situation zapat encountered. Other recommendations/idears: Zones can be re-captured by enemy if left unguarded. Didn't see any enemy using AT's or vehicles. Trade in collected enemy equipment for CPs. If some of this has been implemented, forgive me, I'm still exploring. Keep up the nice work!

    That's good to hear, I didn't really test for it, just something I thought I observed. Maybe the way my mission was set up caused it to act the same. I'm not doubting your results, I'm glad you took the time to test it specifically. Thanks for the vid!
  10. Hi, Is it okay to submit missions with songs? I have an option to turn off the music if the player just doesn't want to hear it and could add a hint about the year/band/song info as well. Just curious as I've downloaded a couple missions that have songs within the mission. I feel music really helps in the immersion factor but wanted other's opinions. Thanks, Chad I apologize if this has been brought up, the only thread I found that came close but didn't answer was from over 2 years ago, this is not about creating video for youtube just mission play.
  11. Yup, found that out the hard way. I have a CyberSnipa game pad and though Q&E would be better alternative for down/up controls but it seems to be hardcoded as 'extra' speed forward such as in a land vehicle. Had to re-map after a minor 'incident' with a few on board.

    Absolutely love the fog effect. Not sure why, but I don't see it overly blue like some are reporting. Doesn't seem to affect the AI though, I set up a mission (of which I'm an observer only...testing) with 100% fog and the AI reacted the same way as if there wasn't from what I could tell...but I couldn't see a dang thing, just the noise of battle. Even the heli on a search and destroy waypoint was seemingly unaffected whereas in the real world, they wouldn't even consider being in the air in the first place. But still, I really dig the fog. A mist slider would be pretty cool but maybe once they give us the rain option, a low setting will be like a mist. Can only wait and see.

    Mouse wheel scroll speed too high

    I had an issue where I'd scroll the wheel one notch, and it wheeled it's way through the entire list making so I could not select what I wanted. Problem was my mouse was set to advance 3 lines for every wheel mouse forward or backward spin. Changing it back to one fixed the issue. Hope this helps.
  15. Here's another post I agree 110%. Unfortunately it'll never happen IMO. Problem isn't that there isn't information out there, there's tons...all over the place. Here, youtube, Armaholic...etc. I'd pay handsomely for an all around scripting document that is well put together, QC'd and checked for accuracey, updated with new information...etc. I love this sim/game...the possibilities are virtually endless but sometimes even the most simplest of tasks can be challenging. Case in point, it took me 8 frackin hours the other day to figure out and get it to work, how to play custom music via triggers. I found lots of info, but most of it contained typos or missing info causing much frustration. I finally put 1, 2 and 3 together and got it to work. For a new guy to this system, I feel lost for every small detail I want to put together in my own little missions.
