  1. Well, like I said I wasn't really satisfied with the mesh so I did it again and again and again and... And finally I got the canopy frame and the front fuselage section to fit together. There are still some holes but filling them is easy sh** against the trouble I had with the canopy stuff. To be honest, this was probably the most challenging so far, it really cost me weeks. But who cares, the result is what counts. Right now I am too tired to keep up working but I will leave you a render. Well, good night then. Or good morning, you choose. ;) Jester
  2. Somehow I found some time to work on my baby again. First thing I did was to rework the whole front fuselage section. Difference maybe limited but it looks way better than before. If you focus on the wind shield you may see what I mean. I also changed some things with the gals of the canopy and the wind shield, it looks better now, too. There is still a lot work with the canopy frame and the rear section of the front fuselage. right now I only have one render for you as I am still playing around with all the lighting options Max offers to me. Next I will work on, beside the things already mentioned, are the intakes. The seem not proper to me, so I will rework them. Cross your fingers that I get enough time to work on it. As a side note: The progress you see is the work of one day. I spent 4 days playing with different tools and options to get it work as I wanted to. That's it so far, stay tuned. Jester Got a little further, canopy/ front fuselage section seems to be done now. But I'm not sure, maybe I will do it again, still undecided. Anyways, here is another render: Compare if you like, maybe you will find the details. ;)

    AH-64 Pack

*Cheers Myke* Oh my god, it's getting better every day. But still the question remains why BI did not implement leaning in aircraft from the beginning on... But who cares, it is possible and doesn't look awkward. To stay on topic: Awesome work, NodUnit. Everytime I see new pictures of progress my jaw falls down onto my toes. Keep it up!
  4. Sorry for the long time without an update. But actually my work and my free-time do collide horribly. It's no use but to tell you that this project is delayed to unknown. But it's not dead! Forecasts see a little time left in late december and january to at least attemt to complete the model. Still I hope to find someone to help me with this project with knowledge either of modding or the plane itself. I really hope to get the first release finished until Eastern but no guarantee on that. So, stay tuned, bookmark this thread and cross your fingers to help me improve my career situation. Anyways, thank you for your response and critics, it really helps me to go on. Your patience will pay off, I promise! Btw: Pick a little bit on [GLT]Myke to push him, he has really awesome stuff that really needs to be released, honestly. ;) Greetings, Jester

    AH-64 Pack

Well, can't tell it with 100% but I think they are from the Netherlands. Can't see the camo pattern correctly, but it looks like german or something. Especially with the white strips around their arms. In combination with an AH64 I would say they're from the Netherlands. The small CFT might be a country-specific one (AH-64A/D+/Block XX who knows [NL]) for the counter measures. Please don't pin me on that, but that's what I would guess. It just comes in my mind when I look at it without any further knowledge. Back to the soldiers (they are ground crew, no pilots) in the picture: As relaxed as they seem to be they must be our northwestern neighbours.^^ Anyways, this is what I would guess on the first look.

EA-6B Prowler - WiP by IrishDeviant

Wow, great news man! If I count all the votes together you might do the F-14 aside the (A)C-130. And eddyDs mlod is looking quite good, so maybe It is not that much work. Beside that I am really looking forward to seeing the Prowler ingame as it might add another unique strategic component to the game.
  9. Well, the displays are a issue for their own, but I got Myke helping me on this when it comes to that point. I say again, if someone has experience on working on or in F-15E please contact me, I need every help I can get with it.
  10. Aw, sorry for long time no see. Got my good rig (quad-core is better than dual-core) back some days ago and then got a new job. I'm in lack of time at the moment so there is and will not be much progress in the next couple of weeks. I am working for BMW in a 6-day nightshift only contract. It's pretty exhausting but don't worry, I will continue as soon as I can. The scedule is torn apart but even the Duke will come in some time. So no worry, there will be a Strike Eagle. ;)

EA-6B Prowler - WiP by IrishDeviant

Well guys, a Jaguar is really outdated, more than the F-14 everyone loves. The U2 (hey Bono :D ) is not really practial for ArmA as it is a very high altitude recon aircraft. And outdated too. What I would prefer is a new C-130 - but with some modifications. The problem with all the AC-130 Scripts is that they are scripts. There was one real AC-130 model (video to find on youtube) but they got problems with BIS as it seemed they ripped the BIS model to edit into AC-130. So my vote goes to an AC-130. I hope that your C-130 project folder does not limit to this. I don't think that you would need help with scripting, they are already out. ;) What do you think, Irish?
  12. Ok, here's the next update. Focus layed on CFTs and underbody.
  13. Ok, here's an update of the work done so far with the underbody: Obviously it's not final, but works fine for me so far. Had a lot issues with adding new blueprints and afterwards startet playing around with different tools/options. But in the end it's worth it. On a side note: I have about 50-60 revisions since I started, from scratch to actual model ranging from approx. 200-12.000 polys (not yet optimized/triangulated). @JDog: What I mean is, that the further you come with your work it gets harder to make progress. It's just tweaking things, at least on my eagle, as you keep pushing some things down the road. @everyone else: Thank you for your help and positive feedback. I wasn't wrong when I thought that this beauty is really needed. €dit: Work proceeds, gear bay added and doors pre-animated, just to test if it fits. And it does fit! :) Didn't expect it but I might finish the underbody tomorrow, only CFTs left then.
  14. Ok guys, I wrote once that I'll try to implement the F-15's variable intake geometry. Now that I've seen this video I think that with ArmA2 it will not be possible. What I will try is to have the intake position relative to speed. The curve goes from low intake profile at low speeds to high profile at medium speeds and again low profile reaching the barrier of sound. I also will see if it is possible to make the intake position relative to AoA. But since then I will have to see that short clip again and again until I can see a pattern behind all this. Another thing that has to be mentioned: I will rework the complete underbody ranging from intakes to engines, including the conformal fuel tanks. Somehow I don't get the parts together properly which leaves me no choice than creating them again. Unfortunately this will kill my schedule (ETA 5 weeks) but on the other hand most of the parts have been re-done since I started. This exclude the underbody, CFTs and wings (the wings are fine, I won't make them again too^^) so I am just following the red line that started with the accidential erase of the first engine nozzles. Anyways, work continues but the further you come with a project, the more it slows down. Fortunately there are enough small pieces and details to be done like antennas, cooling intakess and all that stuff so that it is not that hard to keep motivation up. No worries about that. I'm still looking for people to join the project helping out with textures, know-how, research capabilities or just knowledge because they worked with that baby. Anyone is welcome so don't be shy.
  15. About the MFDs: The plan is to remove all GUI from ArmA and put every information into the MFDs. Heading, weapon status, "health" of aircraft, target information and so on. I need to talk to Myke about that and sort out what I can use and what not. But in the end it will be necessary to have 2 human players in the seats to get the best out of it. Anyways, I got a new picture for you: After a exhausting week in work I started to re-model the airbrake and its bay. Still some tweaking needed, but it looks good so far. Here it is:

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

New progress on the canopy frame and low poly cockpit. Still a lot to do... @JDog: Wow, your carrier looks great. If my project list wasn't full of work for the next 6 months I would start making a Super Hornet.

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

On the CFT? Yeah I know. I need to re-form the whole thing but I'm kicking it down the road all the time.^^

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

Remaining airframe work: - underbody - landing gear - remodelling airbrake - canopy - low poly interior - CFTs including Pylons and last but not least - welding parts together With a little luck I will start with the high poly cockpit in a week or two. Unfortunatly I don't have anyone yet doing the paintjob which might delay the release but the goal is still the middle of september. But nothing is as stable as alteration.

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

On it goes. Added front gear incl. gear bay and doors (some parts still missing), sensors on top of the tail rudders, smoothed the fitting of the engine housings and tweaks here and there. More and more it looks like an eagle.^^

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

Thanks for that. It is my second project at all, I swear. I am still learning all the features and tools for my program and it's amazing what is possible. But the more you know the longer it takes. Just like "this looks like crap, redo it" and suddenly it takes longer and longer. I just started re-modelling the nose and front fuselage section and ended up with the engine housings. But there are a lot things you can do to get a little success and get back your motivation. Like fuel tanks or launcher rails. Which I must confess I am really proud of.^^ Anyways, there's still a lot of progress every day which scares me a little bit. I optimistically expect the maiden flight in mid september. Enough chatter, here's the latest progress:

    Update on the Strike Eagle:

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

Thanks. It actually is a Strike Eagle and since there is no need for a dedicated air superiority figther with a "no pound for air to ground" dogma in ArmA2 I do not plan to make a single-seater variant. Variable intake geometry is planned, I got the concept in mind but animating things is one of the last steps. I am more worried about the exhaust nozzles. That will be hard to animate. On it goes: Well, intake done.^^

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!

The resurrection of a legend (-ary fighter aircraft)! As you can see this is pretty much WIP. All obvious issues you see are known, it's just not done yet. So far, it looks good to me, better than my last project. See full progress board thread (german!) with starting from scratch at task-force-141.pytalhost.de. Will work with GLT Missiles only. Thanks in advance to [GLT]Myke.^^
  25. Hi guys, I hope someone can help me on that: I am trying to make a ambient radio addon using severeal songs converted to .ogg format. The goal is to have a soundsource placed in the editor and it starts playing the music files automatically and the further away a player the less he hears. Actually it works as a ambient sound like a howling wolf but after all it doesn't. Somehow it is not shown in the editor drop-down menu. My config looks like this: class CfgPatches { class CASounds { weapons[] = {}; requiredAddons[] = {}; }; }; class CfgRadio {}; class CfgSounds {}; class CfgSFX {}; class jd_sound_base { sounds[] = {"music1"}; music1[] = {"\jd_sound\Track01_fire.ogg", 0.00316228, 1, 30, 1, 0, 0, 0}; empty[] = {"", 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}; name = "Music"; }; class Sound; class jd_sound : Sound { scope = 2; sound = "jd_sound_base"; displayName = "JD's Public Radio"; // Values from class: Sound // side = -1; animated = 0; vehicleClass = "Sounds"; icon = "\jd_sound\icon_soundsource_ca"; mapSize = 10; faction = "none"; }; What is wrong with my config? It's hard to extract the needed lines from the original BIS sound config as it has approx. 100 dozen million lines of code.^^
