    FlexiAI (WIP) discussion

Great work, watching with keen interest!
  3. Ive got the suitcase fairly easily with 10 men, the trick is to thoroughly sweep the surrounding area and then have your men sneak into great fire locations while holding fire - before opening up at long range. Thats during the day - night missions are even easier But as a lone spec op ive never passed the mission - i can maneouver to within a few hundred meters easily enough, but cant seem to get to the suitcase itself without either being ambushed at short range by an unexpected patrol (=DEATH) or, as happened in one case, having to open fire on the general and immediate guards, which immediately draws the ire of damn near everything in the target area - while youre in the middle of it So far ive tried this 3 times at night, and have always died approaching the inner defended area. I guess thats to be expected, considering the extreme defences in the area and the implausibly difficult task of a lone soldier sneaking in and out of the area against NVG patrols I reckon im going to be an elite Arma 2 special operative by the time i manage this..
  4. The missing radio seems to occur whenever i reload the game. Basically if i load at all i lose the radio and 'save game' radio option. No idea why, but thanks for the tip. My savegames reach MUCH larger size than 30-40mb. I see 60mb or more after a while. I see similar savegame SIZE issues with other missions (for example BIS campaign) and possibly elongated load times and stuttering - but these are minor in those missions, whereas with yours the stuttering becomes unbearably bad and loadtimes unbearably long, for some odd reason. I will have to do more testing but i have no idea why. IF noone else is noticing these issues i dont think its something you can pursue. I will simply have to try and play through your mission whole, rather than saving and continuing. IT is a very good mission!
  5. With Sova, when you find him hanged Cooper has a confrontation with the officers, but then nothing happens and you cant cut him down. I suspect these people killed him - but is this a bug?
  6. I have a large CRT at head height and Track IR 4 so if its mounted below the monitor i have limited tracking motion looking upward, and if on top i have limited motion downward. However, i decided less motion downward was the lesser of the two evils, and also on top tends to be closer to level with my head (that would be best). When mounted on top, however, not only does the CRT's thick top bezel force it higher than level, but its little feet also mean it goes even higher. So what i did for now is i sticky taped it onto the top bezel (as far down as i could without obstructing the monitor view) upside down so that the feet would not block the monitor view unnecessarily. I may take them off later and blu tack the thing to the monitor instead, but for now it works rather well :D
  7. Great mission but i have some issues. The mission is very long and particularly difficult when playing as a lone spec op at night, so at some point i inevitably save so i can continue later However, when i reload the mission the little radio with 'save game' is missing, and after a few save/load routines (using other methods like renaming save files) the load times become EXTREMELY long! I also get an awful and constant 'stutter' after a few save/loads What can i do?
  8. Thanks good tip, i think it was active. Fortunately i have TrackIR 4 and solved my problem by reverting to the latest v4 (not v5) trackir software. The v5 software didnt allow the camera to be inverted (which mine is) so i had to revert anyway. With the v4, as others here pointed out, there is no double click issue. However, i have to wonder how such an issue could come to arise at all. What on earth does head tracking have to do with double click?
  9. So is there a solution or what? The amount of crap we have to deal with in this game..
  10. How do i try this mod out? Even though its obvious the aimpoints and Eotechs dont work the same way as they do in real life, i do find i dont mind the aimpoints too much, but the Eotechs are terrible (obscure everything with the very pattern that is supposed to be used to aim). I though Eotechs were better in real life? Well anyway, id definitely like to try out your mod EDIT - managed to get it going using the Community Base Addon. I have to say the standard aimpoints are awful. The amount the gun shifts from target is massive, and interestingly, only when crouching. No wonder i was wondering why i cant seem to hit the hit sometimes Having said that, your mod is early days. It jitters a lot, isnt particularly accurate itself and it doesnt look like the real thing. Its a proof of concept, as you said Is there really NO WAY to have these sights in Arma 2? That Arma 1 parallax test looked pretty good

    Ai thread

Just a little request, could you implement a delay between a unit being shot and reporting that to squadmates? At the moment if one member of a squad is far away from the others a single silenced lethal shot will not alert the others, however even two shots a split second apart (such as a burst to the chest) will immediately alert the others. This is quite annoying and artificial and means you always have to go for headshots as a spec ops, which is not really realistic
  12. Hi all, first post, registered to report this issue! Although other reports of the Nighttime Arma 2 environment being 'too dark' and NVG goggles going 'too dark' have been made, a quick search of the Community bug tracker and forums seems to indicate this is the first report to link this problem to loading. Before alerting BIS/creating a bug tracker report, i would like others to give their views and corroborate this report In short point form, here is my issue: Started mission that takes place at night with NVG (night vision goggles). The mission is 'Cipher v1.40' and was started with 'night' and 'spec ops' parameters on veteran difficulty. It was tested in version 1.04 and the latest beta patch, without difference Partway through the mission the game is saved and shut down After completely shutting down Arma 2 (quitting to desktop) the game is restarted and the savegame reloaded - the nightime illumination environment is observed to be correct, with ambient lighting and shadows illuminating objects, characters and terrain. When NVG are switched on, the view is bright, even against light sources, and shows shadows and ambient illumination. However, after now reloading the same savegame from inside the mission (esc to bring up the menu, then revert to the save) the nighttime environment now loses proper ambient illumination, appearing 'pitch black'. There do not appear to be visible shadows or ambient illumination of objects and terrain. When NVG are now switched on, the view is dim and dark, and becomes nearly unbearably so against light sources. Further, shadows and ambient illumination do not seem to appear Below are comparison images of this issue. The first image in each pair is upon a fresh load (start the game from desktop, then load the savegame), while the second is after a reload from inside the mission (esc to bring up menu, then revert to the savegame). The images below taken without NVG are naturally dark and need to be viewed 'fullscreen' in order to see the difference. However, i have provided inverted colour versions of these in order for the reader to better percieve the difference: EDIT: I have not included the non-NVG images due to the '5 image per post' restriction. These are included in the next post. Conclusion It appears that reloading from inside a mission does not properly reset either the ambient illumination environment or HDR/aperture simulation. As a result, nighttime environments, once reloaded from inside a mission, appear excessively dark and the use of NVG in such an environment results in an excessively dim and dark view that becomes unviewable against light sources. I believe reports of these two issues are related to this same issue of nighttime environment illumination not being reloaded correctly, and i believe this issue is a bug. I believe the problem results in a fairly serious impingement of gameplay when it occurs, and the workaround at the moment is to only load from a fresh Arma 2 restart when playing nighttime missions Would others please test this on their systems and report/corroborate if this occurs? Thankyou! Tom
