Cohort replied to Cohort's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Ya i noticed you can adjust it within team menu, i knew i was doing something wrong. disregard. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

Thats interesting your getting those results. Ive optimized the game from Dwarden's nvidia thread, yet to install the new drivers though to see if that helps my fps. What are your specs and game settings? This is my fps in warfare online mode though, which can really bog your fps down compared to campaign. So how does win 7 improve fps in ARMA 2 anyways and by what margin? -

Im confues on 4b. " adjust renderahead in arma2.cf" I wen to the ArmA2.cfg and all i have is: " language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=100000; Resolution_Bpp=32; Resolution_W=1440; Resolution_H=900; refresh=60; Render_W=1440; Render_H=900; FSAA=1; postFX=1; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=1056636928; nonlocalVRAM=1878552576; " No renderahead option. However i did set frame render ahead to 8 in nvidia control panel as i had read in an armaholic thread. Am i good to go or not? -
I have set my view distance to values of 2,500, 5,000, and even at 10,000 with hardly any fps impact. I know that high draw distances above 3k are supposed to degrade fps according to what i have read in these forums but this is not true for me. Is this normal behavior or is something wrong? Whether im at 2,500 or 10,000 i do not notice much of an fps change (in contrast to performance of lower draw distances), if any, while doing ground operations in a warfare multiplayer match; havent tested fps whilst in air yet. I have also changed it to 10k distance and restarted client as well as make sure settings files are not read only and i got the same stable fps. while in the main menu i do notice draw distance visually increasing as i move the slider so i know adjusting it is working. Basically, is there an issue or is this normal? Settings are basically all normal/low but max mem is very high and object detail is high w/ 1440x900 res. In fact, when i increase AA, AF, Textures, post processing, and terrain details in game the fps doesn't really change either. The only option that drastically influences fps is resolution and object detail or AA at max. system: E8500 GTX280

Just wondering what kind of FPS increase i can get from the mentioned system upgrade if anyone can assist on this 350 paged mess. Current: E8500@3.7GHZ stable temps GTX280 @671/1444/2440 stable temps 2X2gb ocz 6400 @ 1066mhz windows vista 64bit Upgrade: Q9550 HD5850 (ram?) (windows 7?) Currently on normal settings w/1440x900 res, low object detail, 2500 view distance, i am averaging 24-20fps, lows in the 12s during texture load and heavy battles or thick areas getting an updated average of 22fps with lows in the 18s as well in warfare online mode with 30 people. I would like to keep my average at least 30-35fps and i don't want to be getting anything below 25fps with increased settings, specifically with high object/texture/terrain detail which is what im trying to get with the upgraded suggestions. At this point the game is hardly playable and i cant even get an accurate object detail past a small distance which is frustrating, this game is an unbelievable resource hog. So will i see this improvement with the cpu and gpu upgrade? Will upgrading to windows 7 give any performance increase as well as getting maybe more ram and/or better ram as well? Thanks. -
Hi, reporting a habitual CTD/freeze i have been experiencing. my report links w/ dxdiag are in a .rar: http://rapidshare.com/files/298868466/ARMA_2_reports_and_dxdiag.rar.html Description: Anyways since i purchased the game 2 days ago, all the crashes/freezes i have had were while i was playing a mulitplayer game (domination) in map: Chernarus, inside a tank or an aircraft. I have had one crash inside an m1a2 tusk, one in an AH1Z, one in a V22, one in C130J and two in a UH60, either in flight or landing. Sometimes the screen will freeze but the sound will remain forcing me to reboot computer but sometimes i stops. Sometimes its just an instant CTD and occur within 20-60 minutes of gaming time. The most recent crash today was around 6PM PST 10/27.
