How to install Arma 2, OA & Reinforcements RETAIL DVDs
killakaze posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Hello i own the retail DVD versions of arma 2, arma 2: operation arrowhead and arma 2: Reinforcements ive had problems trying to combine them all in one directory and becuase im using an 80gb ssd id like to condense the amount of space the installation is using, my latest attempt which has taken acouple hours failed miseraby, the instructions manual and readme files on the disc tell me to follow onscreen prompts which arnt clear on how to combine everything so ive been scouring forums trying to find clear installation instructions with no luck, can someone please point me to comprehensive instructions or give me some clear step by step instructions for how to do this succesfully. I assumed it would be 1. first install arma 2 2. install operation arrowhead to the same directory as arma 2 in my case c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma 2 (which updates arma 2 aswell) 3. install reinforcements to the same directory c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma 2 (couldnt find any info on wether i needed to install reinforcements or just baf and pmc so installed reinforcements) 4. then update using the latest update patch 1.60 to get everything current as of now. thanks for any details. -

JGphins SSD drives work good with arma maybee throw one of them in and use an external for your storage -
Devs time for a 64BIT version???

How did you go with it SVO? Kridian yeah i orginally had dual core and a 8800gts when i first got arma and i was getting black screens and receiving constantly it was unbearable Btw when the drivers recover from not responding i remmeber reading something about the 3d mode of the card cannot run properly or something and the gpu reverts to some basic 2d mode or something whatever it was is why you need to reboot after a driver stops responding to get back to the right performance. -

Anyone with black screens this might help. I used to run out of memory all the time and also get black screens that eventually recover or needed a flush to recover, i always had the impression black screen and running out of memory were related. somehow the ram issue stopped acouple months ago cant remmeber what fixed that but i was still get black screens until One day i alt tabbed out of a black screen and noticed a little windows msg pop up over the clock in the toolbar for 2 seconds saying "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" i had never noticed the error before, its very easy to miss, i alt tabbed back in to arma 2 and it was working but abit more stutter until my system had been rebooted. realising the card was having some kind of trouble i started mucking around with evga precision overclocking my gpu & noticed as soon as i tried upping shader clocks and running arma id get "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" i returned the setting back to default in evga precision then reduced shaders by a notch or two on the slider which is less than 20hz or whatever and i havnt had a black screen since, i can overclock memory core and the cpu core on the card without issue so now i run it overclocked with shader slightly under default and im getting better perfomance than ever without issue. q9550 @ 3.7ghz, sparkle 285gtx 2gb, 8gb ram, ssd drive -

I have a 285gtx gpu and a q9550 cpu i think our cpus are fairly similar mine possibly faster? anyway if you saw 20fps increase upgrading from a 275gtx i might have to do the same, "teach" can you give me your opinion please im not to familiar between the speed differences in components like 275 and 285gtx and our cpus, i think a 20fps increase would be worth the $300 it would cost me if them fps would be the case. my pc q9550 core 2 quad, 2gb 285gtx, 8gb ram, intel ssd 650watt power supply. -
Dmarkwick did you enjoy the video i posted so much you had to re post it 2 comments later and take credit for it? lmfao.

i was mucking around with the 3D options in arma with my 285gtx and came to the conclusion its not worth the headache if i plan on playing arma in 3d i need a proper setup probably with the nvidea 3d glass's and the samsung 2233rz 3D LCD monitor anyone actually tried that setup with arma whats it like? does the crosshairs actually work? btw i found this video on youtube about some new 3d tech that i thought was a very creative video enjoy.

Not if your on point flattermann

Thanks for your responses, i dont care if windows boots faster either but im concerned that having windows on a standard drive needing to access system files while playing could be a bottle necking and possibly causing micro stutters and other lag in the game.

I would like to get as much performance out of my pc as possible to run arma2 as good as i can, At the moment i have my intel x-25 80gb as a slave drive with Combined operations installed to it would i see more fps if i had my Operating system on that drive too? theres quite abit of work involved in reinstalling eveything and id be using up space on my ssd so id like to know before i commit to it? Win 7 64, Q9550, 8gb ddr2, 285gtx 2gb.
