  1. that's the streamer, dont see a thd client for a pc, seems to be a tegra only thing or something. anyway, they say it'll be fixed end of june http://support-remote.splashtop.com/entries/20470223-Hyper-sensitive-mouse-input-in-DirectX-games
  2. But is there a THD client for pc? seems to be a tablet only thing. thd seems to be discontinued, cant find it on the splashtop website.
  3. I tried splashtop2 from pc to pc, the graphics and response seemed ok, audio worked. Unfortunately the mouse is unusable because splashtop sends coordinates instead of input, so once you move the mouse you're looking at the ground.
  4. already have windows vista/7/8 ? anyway, in a few days intel haswell will be avialable, maybe that'll bring amd prices down even further, dunno. Otherwise haswell's cheapest quad should have decent price/performance. Also, probably no need to go for a K with haswell, fsb overclocking will return apparantly, unless that's also a K chip feature. anyway? no hardware to cannibalise? with that kind of budget a small saving somewhere can mean a good performance boost elsewhere.
  5. try to disable all the overlays before starting. so msi afterburner overlay, steam overlay, etc.
  6. There are no reliable reviews yet, and even the the ones available now say it's faster. Price is unknown, but intel has kept the same models at the same price feature wise, just increasing performance and efficiency since socket 1156.
  7. The haswell will be the replacement for ivy bridge, it'll be roughly the same price, just perform better.
  8. Having lots of stuff on the map is heavier on the cpu, with an empty map the cpu isn't very busy so the fps and gpu use goes up. Rendering a bunch of soldiers isn't that heavy on the gpu, especially if they're on the other side of the map so not even in view, the cpu however has to calculate everything. If you want to save some money I'd get the 3570K, it performs identical in arma and pretty much every other game. there's some benefit in 3770K for video transcoding, but not even worth it for that imo. But seriously, wait 2 weeks for haswell. It'll be faster for about the same price.
  9. @sartax nah, your card is fine, I wouldn't change a thing. you'll be gpu limited on an empty map, but in an actual demanding mission you wont notice a difference with a faster card, unless you want to run with lots of antialiasing and postprocessing. If you dont have the 3770K yet, might want to wait for haswell. I've seen some gaming benchmarks on a german site, and it performs very well, particularly in cpu limited not perfectly multithreaded stuff like arma. ---------- Post added at 12:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 AM ---------- every game should run well on that. Arma runs ok too, depends on the mission of course, expect ~40+ fps in helo showcase with decent settings.

Tech wise (arma3 vs other huge map games)

yup, although the blur and supposed heat haze stuff hides the popin pretty good :) It's nice trickery.

Can't run above 20 fps on new rig

in multiplayer a lot of settings are set serverside, so it's hard to compare performance. anyway, the arma series is a notorious cpu hog and performance doesn't scale that well to many cores, so it doesn't really like the fx8150. with the cpu intensive settings turned down it should be decently playable.
  12. I'd advise not to mess with core parking, if you really want to test this just go to bios and disable all the powersaving, that should do the same.
  13. yeah, lots of stuff can go to high as the gpu is pretty good, try to find out which settings are gpu intensive and which load the cpu.
  14. ^ should run, cpu isn't the best for this game though, you'll be under 30 fps often, well, in the helo showcase mission.
  15. I take it you didn't do the i7 920 and e8400 run on the 3930K?

Low CPU utilization & Low FPS

Everybody would like better performance. But some people are just drama queens about it. On my pc the showcase missions are perfectly playable. create something extreme in the editor and performance will bog down further than arma2, this will probably be fixed one way or another.

    100% Video card usage

trees are really heavy on the gpu, especially with antialiasing. anyway, 95C is pretty high for a gtx560 Ti, it's not going to kill your card quickly but it might be a good idea to try and remove some of the dust or something.

    Arma III is very laggy

dont go expecting it to run similar to bf3. There are issues with a lot of ai fighting, where arma2 performs better, those situations will probably improve.

Will 64 bit run better than 32 bit?

If you have 4GB or more ram a 64bit OS lets you use all of it. Unless you have a piece of hardware that absolutely wont run on 64bit there's no real reason to install 64bit, even though the gains are pretty small if you only have 4GB ram. Arma benefits slightly, if it runs out of virtual memory space it uses windows to page stuff, if there's any space in memory left those files will stay there and can be accesed instantly. It will not do much for average fps but it might reduce some stuttering (occasional screen freezing for half a second).

    Just Overclocked my CPU.

    because I'm evil, muhaahahahahh.

    Just Overclocked my CPU.

It's the combination, heat makes the stuff in the cpu more mobile so high voltage kills it more easily. If you do an overclock on a low voltage it's not that big of a problem if it heats up a lot, and if you have epic cooling it's ok to run a high voltage overclock. Anyway, overclocking can get you a big performance boost in anything that's cpu limited. Would recommend doing it if you have the time to do it properly.
  22. there is on my pc. C:\Users\XXXXXXXXX\Documents\Arma 3 Alpha\
  23. lag? go to documents, arma 3 alpha, arma3alpha.cfg and set GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; also make sure viewdistance and especially object viewdistance are kept reasonably low, 1500 / 800 should be plenty for infantry gameplay for instance. also make sure the pip is turned off. those settings make the most difference.
