Whatever they did was a great improvement and good start. The mid-range ground textures really add to the immersion and help to break up the emptiness feeling. The tree shading is excellent as well, trees no longer look fake to me. I've not played in about the last month due so seeing the patch and these changes was excellent. Game is starting to come together, maybe it's already together you guys know better than I, but I'm impressed with the texture changes so much so I uninstalled ARMA OA just now.

I'm really trying to enjoy this game, but frankly I just can't get in to it. There's something odd about the graphics that have been said in many multiple other threads and the gameplay just has no immersion compared to Arma II OA. I've not really read too many post here but wonder if I'm in the minority. I know it's an alpha version but I have to say I don't like it .... am I being to critical or not giving it enough time or expecting too much early? Seriously?

The towns are nice or the little I've seen of them in my short time of play. The ability to enter building is going to be great but gets boring quick since they are all empty. Did a quick search for empty building and returned no results but wondering if there are plans fill some of these with something interesting to look at? Thanks

I hope so , first time I went in to a town I was please to see I could in the buildings, after going in literraly 5 , I've not been in another one since. Got boring fast.

I was about to post the same thing before seeing this thread. The game looks flat or weird or something. I also think it's the ground textures. Glad many others have noticed it. I was not really as impressed as I thought I'd be with my first play through, high end PC, everything on max. Granted I know it's alpha and things will only get better.

Can you or someone provide more info on how to place trenches? From the start menu I went in to editor and loaded a map, I don't have any options like Empty, Trenches, squad trenche? Is there somewhere else I need to be? I can place units and waypoints in the editor but no trenches. Thanks

After firing the main tank gun the smoke covers the screen and I can't tell where my projectiles are hitting. By the time the smoke clears all the action is over. How do others deal with this?

Hi, I started growing tomatoes for a living and I'd like to share my story with the development team. After finally cultivating hundreds of plants I finally was in business of selling tomatoes. They looked great on the outside, they were bright red and firm (my tomatoes) .... but when you cut them open they were brown and slimy on the inside and they smelled pretty bad. I tested many tomatoes and each one had the same result, my tomatoes were ruined. Now my delima was I had neither the time nor the resources to grow a new batch or figure out how to fix the current one, so I had no choice but to go to market with them. Customers were tripping over each other to get to my tomatoes and I sold every last one of them that day.... then the phone calls and emails started. People got those tomatoes home and discovered regardless of how nice they looked on the outside, they were rotten on the inside. Most of my customers demanded refunds and vowed never to buy anything from me again, but a very loyal few saw the beauty and potential of my tomatoes, they vowed to stick with me through these tough times. Now my tomatoes really did have potential but my failure to meet my customers demand simply was unacceptable. In hindsight it would have been better for me to delay going to market with my tomatoes until my new batch was done. Although I knew about the issues I thought my customers would overlook it, well I lost a lot of respect and a lot of customers that day.

How do you tow the artillery piece to it's destination? there are options to make it mobile or combat but how do you move it/tow it? I got in the jeep and back up by it but no options?

devs ,,,, anyone? Someone more familiar with the editor than I? Is it working or no?

So edit a session, put in my player and the abient combat manager, synch the two, play nothing happens. Walked around for 10 minutes? Is it not working and also is ambient civilians missing?

Ambient civilians is missing/hidden but I'm asking about ambient combat, anyone else get this to work in editor? It does not seem work for me. 1) Plop down me (player) 2) Drop Ambient Combat module 3) Sych me to module 4) Preview 5) Nothing happens played for 20 minutes

I don't think so just was not sure if I was missing something. Playing around with the editor and either it's bugged or I'm stupid, most likey the later.

I understand the player models and vehicle models are better than the Arma series. How are the overall graphics and game world? Is it more immersive or kind of open and plain? Better graphics overall?

Why no pre-load anywhere? It's 7GB's of download right? Some of with the crap for internet connections won't be able to play all weekend :( Please someone open a pre-load, would like to buy and play this weekend. And before you flame me, my internet is 1.5MB down and that's the best offerred in my area :(

I wish I could get close enough to even have a chance at the enemy. If I fly my guys in I get shot down anywhere close to either target, landing and walking a ways on in has little better effect, we are shot up as soon as I fire off a first shot. Can't even get close. Any T72 can't be taken out from my 3 AT guys without them dying, I'm not sure what I'm trying to do is possible. I like the random missions and objectives in Domincation co 30, like the fact I'm playing it single player with AI, but hate the fact I don't have a chance.

OK, I downloaded the Domination co 30 mission packs, they are great and exactly what I have been wanting out of this game for months and months. Here is the twist. Although they are meant for MP, I start up a LAN game and play on my own with me and 16 AI. The problem is I can't seem to recruit any vehicles or fighter planes, just soldiers. When I head out to an objective even though I have 4-5 anti tank soldiers I get over-run. Is domination possible for a single player like me? How do you get vehicles and new weapons?

How can we play Superpower or Warfare mode on the new OA maps? I tried d/l Benny Edition but over LAN can't add any buildings as commander. It's my undertanding you have to create a dedicated server for which my PC run out of memory when launching a server and the client at the same time (6gb of RAM). All I want to do is play Superpower or Warfare mode on the new OA maps (not missions style, me against the AI in sandbox or sector control). Is this possible? I have spent 5+ hours trying to find and answer and am getting no where. Any links/help/direction would be appreciated and yes I've search the forums over and over and over.

I will check this out, when i saw dedicated server in your post with link I stopped reading. See here is another post asking about warfare mode. As a new player myself I created a similar post weeks back, yes I searched the forms. Although there are multiple topics on this subject, none actually give us new players a clear cut answer. Most of the topics just point to another topic and say use the search. As new players we want to play single player on a map, but have the warfare mode option so we could run our own army against the enemy AI who is doing the same. Why can't someone just give us a clear answer all us noobs can understand? (speaking for myself - maybe others?). I've spent weeks trying to figure this stuff out and just can't seem to find what I want in single player.

I really like the MP missions on the internet, where everyone works together and finishes one task and then server assigns another and so on and so on. I downloaded Takistan Force by Bon_Inf* http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11409 and I am playing a coop on my own lan by myself. It works just like the MP missions I play on the internet except if I start out as infantry I can only recruit infantry from the baracks, no medics no pilot. Can't fly planes either since I'm not a pilot class. How can you play these types of missions singleplayer on coop, but have access to planes or AI pilots too? I want to play the missions they play online but I want to do it singleplayers with my own AI. Help me understand please.

Thanks for the suggestions all. Yes I admit I'm still learning and guess I'm a noob. Played Arma 2 many many months ago and never enjoyed it, for some reason I saw a video on youtube and came back to it and now can't put it down. OA is excellent! The whole game is excellent and can't understand why I did not enjoy it at this same level the 1st time around???? Guess I grew up over the year :) Anyway I will try the multiple suggestions and see what happens. I downloaded a coop mission from the addons website, but I'm playing it on LAN / MP by myself using only me and the AI. Hope that cleared it up.

I'm starting from a local game I assume. Yes I can pick a class, If I pick pilot I can only recruit and do pilot things during that game, if I pick infantry then I can only do infantry stuff. I want to play as infantry but also need a AI pilot who can fly us where I want to go. This is only the 2nd mission I've checked out but this is exactly what I'm looking for in Singleplayer... exactly ... it's great. Just need to figure out how I can get AI pilots. Maybe another mission allows this, as stated I've only tried two downloaded mission. As far as the person above who suggested scripting, I understand but really don't want to pursue the time needed to understand that unless it's a last resort.
