PC Discussion Thread II - All PC related discussion goes here.

Yes. Frequently when visiting LAN shacks and what not. It does the job and i have no problem using it inspite of getting the feeling of being limited in axis of rotation and *drum roll* speed and precision. Once again i have to ask you how you came to that universal 'truth' without giving the counterpart a good test run. And do it properly for a long period of time like i've done before and after purchasing the Optical Trackball. It's much easier having an argument if both sides actually tried both options. :)Reminds me of another situation: I ate meat up to the age of 25 before i became a vegetarian. And whenever I accompany a friend to a diner and kindly recline any burger offers (without lecturing), i find myself in a situation where i'm forced to fight for my way of life and produce proof and what not to convince him/her of the pro's of being a veggie. Any vegetarian out there knows exactly what i'm talking about. I'm gonna leave this right here, cos frankly i'm tired of argueing. Each to his own. You spell 'Color', i spell 'Colour'. -

@Celery: Read the sentence right after the one you copied, my friend. I've had this conversation a gazillion times with non-believers. Quiet a few of them are now pro-'trackers'. You sound like i'm taking the elitist stroll, but i'm merely trying to get the message thru. It is really that good. This is not a 'my d**k is bigger than yours thread' but you willingly jumped on that wagon. I just think it's sad and weird that the TB isn't more common. ---oh and one last thing: I get the feeling you never tried it. Guess what, i've used a 'regular mouse' at work since the early 90's and as i mentioned, the TB counterpart for 8 years in gaming at home. You think i might have gained some experience on the subject... Do ya? "going against trends..." wth!? I´m 32 years old. Going against trends just for the sake of it is for kids... I think the cheesy 80´s hit says it all: Don't Knock It 'til You Try It. Until then, peace. -

I would never dream of getting a mouse for pc gaming. This is what i've been using the last 8 years. -In any 3D model application (Milkshape etc) this baby outshines the mouse in speed, precision and fast camera control. -In any computer game, this baby...(see above) -And last but not least: In my 8 years of HEAVY DUTY gaming and everyday usage i have never ever come close to musclepains, strains or any issues that are so common with the 'regular' mouse. If you don't believe me, think about it: You only use your thumb, the arm and shoulder rests comfortably. From Wikipedia: "Computer gamers have been able to successfully use trackballs in most modern computer games, including FPS, RPG, and RTS genres, with any slight loss of speed compensated for with an increase in precision. Many trackball gamers are competent at "throwing" their cursor rapidly across the screen, by spinning the trackball, enabling (with practice) much faster motion than can be achieved with a ball-less mouse and arm motion. However, many gamers are deterred by the time it takes to 'get used to' the different style of hand control that a trackball requires" Production is however discontinued probably because of the bold lines above. ...and that's why they are worth serious money on E-bay these days. Sad story and i know i'm gonna have to sink to a lower quality level when my trackball finally dies. Weird case of old technology wins over superior and ergonomic tech. -
I'm on 50 atm on my way to 100. Wish i could live without it but i've tried. Nuff said and slightly OT. :)

Positive feedback for a change... Having owned the game for over 2 months i finally tried the SecOP module in the editor, synched it, slapped in a trigger with some copy/paste lines and wow was i surprised! Instant access to supply drop, transport, arty and random missions. And this is before i got to implement any triggers or code myself. I just found myself wandering around trying things with a big grin thinking about the endless amount of coop style stuff i'm gonna make for the annual christmas Lan with the buds... A great addition to the game! Now all we need is some organized breakdown/tutorial/templates of the different modules. Any suggestions? Based on the poll results it seems there are a lot of frustrated individuals out there. I can only think of two reasons for such cravings: Most of you guys have problems with RL females and/or being brought up in a society that sees sex and nudity as satan's work and strictly forbids you to kiss your girlfriend the first 500 dates or so. I'm glad I was raised in northern europe, (and the answer is NO, we do not hump anything that moves from the age of 12). We're getting proper education without the inquisitorial nonsense. Some cultures really needs to move on from the middle ages... -
Please disable the auto save when quitting a mission

 to you, mate. Unlimited saves, quicksaves and quickloads are the biggest gamekillers in the 21st Century. That's why i rapidly lose interest and motivation because the 'rewarding factor' is simply gone. I always remove the keybindings for those options whenever possible. -
Missing xAudio2 file(s) & sound issues
Sertraline replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
...could that be ingame music being played in Mono perhaps? Got the latest 59323 Beta Build. Campaign and editor-placed music is Mono. I extracted the music.pbo to compare. Result: Playing the .ogg-files in any player outside ArmA 2 = Stereo, Ingame = Mono. (onboard sound disabled, Using X-Fi in Game Mode without Xmss3D)
