A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment for Arma 3
Buckly replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
OK I got ya now, wasnt sure what you meant -
I do not see the importance of this issue and why it is kept alive? Why don't we all see what the dev's do at finial release? We can keep rehashing it over and over, every point has been made multiple times over. They are not excluding women to offend any one, so get over it. Every player has their own beliefs of what should and shouldn't be in the game, and thats all fine and dandy. But it is still in Alpha so maybe we should just see what happens and go from there. As Dwarden said let's wait to see what happens and you can all go back to bitching about it after final release. For now let's focus on the things that will make for a better game, like bugs and broken mechanics. If worse comes to worse if some one feels so strongly about females being in game maybe some one can request a female mod be made, or if you have the skills make one yourself. When I played CoD I was in several clans that had a majority of females playing n the game, and not once did one ever complain about not having a female avatar. All they cared about was playing a fun game with a group of people they liked being on line with. And all the women that play Arma that I know none of them have cared either. I am not trying to speak for them, just sharing my experience. What I would like is avatars that had a difference in height by a few inches from 5'6" to 6'2", would add a little I think. Am I not going to play the game because it's not in game? No I will just enjoy it for what it is. Just saying

A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment for Arma 3
Buckly replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I never had this with Acre. The way it worked was the 343 was short range, 148 and 152(Sat radio) are medium range ((but the 152 had larger range then the 148's)), 117, 119 are long range. The 148 had UHF and VHF one working better in mountain areas and the other working better in Urban places. Maybe some one had a mod on the server you were on or I am miss understanding you. The 152 reached almost the whole map of Falluja from my experience. Just saying Edit: I can't wait for this, as another post said most people don't know how to keep comm's clear. Thanks for all the work you are doing to get ACRE working. Now all we need is ACE! -
Like antoine said performance varies with servers. And I wouldnt stress the low FPS at this stage, I think this is part of why the devs have us doing the alpha on the MP at this point. This way they can get a bunch of info so they can use it to optimize by finial release. Also if you read around 100% sore usage doesnt mean the best performance, but that is from my limited understanding. Games that do that can put the core into a infinite loop, which is not always needed. My GPU is on my 5850 and I dont go over 30 to 40% on that either in this game but it looks much nicer and runs smoother the A2. I remember A2 having issues for a very long and after release and many patches till it got better. Give them time the rest will follow

If you do a search of the forums a bunch of this is covered in other posts. Dwarden(spck) put up a link and said that this info (from Arma 2) still holds true: It is important not to lose the sights from the goal, which is the performance increase. All other things are secondary. One example of wrong metrics is a concurrency level. Concurrency level tells us how much are the additional cores used. This factor is very easy to measure (you can do it in default system task manager), and that is probably why many hard core end users and reviewers are interested about it. Often you can see phrases like "Game XXXX is using quad cores very well, because when you watch CPU usage in task manager, you see all cores are running 100 %". It is very easy to create a trivial program which will make "full use of all cores" - all you need to do it to spawn a few threads and make them spin in an infinite loop. Concurrency is not a goal, only a mean. It is required, but not sufficient. Real life scenarios are more intricated then idle loops, but the principle is the same: using CPU does not mean you get any benefit from using it. In many cases the overhead of going "threaded" is so high that even when two cores are running 100 %, the performance improvement is very small, say about 20 % from single core, and the difference between quad and dual is even smaller. So it would seem that a higher % on your CPU doesnt mean better, or maybe I read it wrong

I have a 5850 and will see if I notice any thing next time I play a night mission. But I haven't seen any thing so far, wish I could of been more help

Will I ever be able to play this game with 30fps?
Buckly replied to snoopwong's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Find a post in the feedback tracker and add you info to it, there are many to choose from. Also if you could get a mod to move this to the troubleshooting forum that might help. There also may be things you can try to help improve performance but you would need to search the forums for that. Link: http://feedback.arma3.com/view_all_bug_page.php -
Exeede rec specs but extreamly poor performance on arma 3 alpha
Buckly replied to wse_jack's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Might get more help if you get this post moved over to the trouble shooting thread. Not sure if you have tried but disable vsync and turn PP off, some have said this has helped them. Also look for a post in the feedback tracker and add your info there. No need to start a new post but look for one about this topic and add you info. Less tickets and more info should help the devs fix things. Having one post with 50 inputs is better then 50 post with one input. Just saying Link: http://feedback.arma3.com/view_all_bug_page.php -
Look in the trouble shooting thread or do a search on the forums and you will find other posts on this. But the best think to do is go to the feed back thread and post your info and specs on a post up on this subject there. The more info we get the devs, the more knowledge they will have to help correct it link for tracker: http://feedback.arma3.com/view_all_bug_page.php

I have had this issues on some MP servers, think it has to do with AI spawning, players joining, possible memory leak, or some thing server side. But I am only spit balling at what is causing it but they tweeted about working on stability and fixing crashes. So it should just be a matter of time

Separate options for DOF, Blur and Glare, Ambient Occlusion ?
Buckly replied to grandstack's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
It would be nice to separate blur from DOF -
Don't think A3 is ready for SLI yet, but you could double check by searching the forums. I think somewhere some one got it working some how

I have had issues since that small update with freezing in lobby and while joining, once once my system froze while I tried to load. As for the wasteland issue I do not think that BI can force any one to play any certain game type on their servers. Best thing to do is look for realism, or sim groups/units/clans that like the play style you are looking for. Our server and many others I have seen do not play wasteland, so you just have to look around and maybe visit some websites for realism groups. Some groups will password their servers and make you log on it TS or their website to get the password to join their servers.

Why buy A3 just so you could go online and ruin everyone's experience?
Buckly replied to lNTRUDER's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
I usually give two to three strikes before I ban. Also if a player says sorry I am more likely to forgive them -
US Army Direct Action Element Work-in-Progress
Buckly replied to antoineflemming's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
YEah I though this had to do with Advanced Combat Environment, but I am happy to hear about this also. Thanks for the effort and keep up the good work. Edit: You can call it that but if you use ACE many players may get confused like I was -

Buckly replied to lNTRUDER's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
In our public server I just sat at base and warned Tking would lead to being kicked. After 30 to 45 of kicking things smoothed out. But then a new batch of players would come in and I would start over again. I don't know if a manual would do anything, when you join the game in the upper right it tells you the G key has been changed. People just want to get into the action, they can't wait it would seem. Before I joined any server I played around in the showcase figuring out my key binds. I hate to say it but the younger members in my Unit didn't do the same, and killed other members several times. When we had our A2 servers up we had a splash screen that told people our TS info, and the basic rules of our server, people still would come in and act like smacktards. When asked they would say they never saw the rules and info on the splash screen. Even then you can try to help train some but some just can't be bothered, and will continue to be smacktards. I think the things that will help this would be getting mods like ACE and Acre (more to DL and another step to take for players to join servers) back, BattleEye (not to start this debate which anti cheat is the best) so admins can use RCON to make it easier for admins to ban and track players, and just old fashioned policing of servers. We have also found putting a password on it help because we make people come into TS to get it(which also helps comms to a degree). There are always trolls in most games and I fear it will always be that way. People get bored way to easy, we can blame TV and parenting, and many other things. But it doesn't matter what caused these things we have to just sit it out and police our servers. A ranking system may help, but really I feel it will be a community effort, which we have a great one to help with. We enjoy having good players on our server without them being in our Unit, so any players looking for realism and tactics feel free to stop by our site and say hello. We even have public players who will grab us in TS to help keep servers clear of *************** and monitor our servers. Just saying -
The Bohemia Interactive Slogan should be, "You ain't seen nothin' yet."
Buckly replied to rehtus777's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I have met Gordan Lightfoot, good guy, and the US gets lots of Maple syrup from the great white north. If you read the tracker many issues up there are teh same but posted by the masses because many feel their issue even though the same as others needs it own post instead of voting on it and putting there notes in. There are also posts marked urgent where the OP is asking for BI to tell Admins to stop kicking them and other silly matters. They will get through it all, my game already runs better then A2. People are moddin all kinds of great stuff and I figure that by the Q3 we will be playing a game we all have dreamed about. We are living in a time of giants, the future is so bright I have to wear shades -
I have heard this said by many players, I have played Arma games since 2009 and have to fly anything in game. Many said they are hoping that this changes as they patch over time, and will be "better" by finial release. Also the ground vehicles seem off also, so maybe the devs have plans to address all these issues. If you haven't I would suggest putting some thing in the bug tracker where others could vote on this to get some ones attention?
-
I have gotten members in our unit to do this through the Arma 2 launcher and most say they see a difference in their performance. If we can show that it works maybe we could get this post or the other one about A2 launcher stickied to help the masses. But I am unsure if any one has played with the vram setting

Why would we need jump? I still dont get any idea how it would be helpful. As stated it would most likely be abused by people trying to make Arma more like Cod/BF and used to bunny hop. We can vault over things in our path, so I fail to see the reason it would be needed. To me this is like the people saying that you can't sprint far enough in full gear. To this statement- "I had a situation where i had to drop my equipment and only hold on to my gun to gain agility and speed. That was a bloody life saver." I would like to see more realism in movement, like you have to drop your ruck when you receive contact so you can move. From all the vets I have spoken with they always dropped their rucks so they could move easier when under fire. And to the statement - "No one will start to jump with an M60 in his hands and full backpack but without those i don't see any problem." When would you use some thing like this in game? When you are back at base playing basket ball during down time? I rather see some type of climbing added before jumping, like for certain types of trees and other rare objects. Even then I think you would have to drop most of your gear. Also if you could get some type of videos link where soldiers in combat are jumping for some purpose your idea might have more merit. This way others could see the value of having a system in place. Just saying

I hear hitting the V key will stop you from walking. This is on the bug tracker, if you sign up you can vote it's priority and even add a note. The more people who use the tracker and put in info should make it easier for the Dev's to fix the error. It is an alpha and the more help we provide the sooner they can clear up all the errors

Use the forum search there is a thread for such questions http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147391-Will-my-PC-run-this-What-CPU-GPU-to-get-What-settings-What-System-Specifications

@OP- Don't think cross fire is working with Alpha I have a AMD 965 BE OC to 3.7 and a 5850 card, and the Auto detect set a few of my settings to high. Lots of eye candy and it runs smooth, in fact it runs better on my machine then A2 does. Gotta say I am very impressed with the single game so far. Have to get used to all the new things we can do in game with stances and get used to them. The sounds are good and it is much nicer then I hoped for. Can't wait till I cut my teeth and try out multi player, I figure that is when I might loose some of that smoothness I am having now. Best $33 I have spent in a long time

LEA - Loadout Editor For ArmA 2 Combined Operations and ACE 2
Buckly replied to major_shepard's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : Community Made Utilities
Question, I have started playing MSO with GBL. I really am enjoying it, only on issue. I would really like to have a camelbak and a MRE or two when I use LEA. For some reason the data base doesnt always save my ruck. So is there a way to get food and water into it? I tried google searching several different things before posting. Thanks -
