Zipper, if you care to notice every single person who has reviewed OFP2 is a fan of ArmA II, so they'll obviously vote ArmA better. And Scrub great metaphor. :)

Zipper I meant BEFORE ArmA II came out. Deadfast, if the gameplay is repetitive that doesn't matter if the core gameplay is great fun (which it is). :) But yeah agreed about the driving. :p

Completely fair score for a great game. :) And I just found this quote very funny. You call CM a one trick pony, right? Well, this is what I find funny. Bohemia's most recent mil sim was about 4 years ago, and CM's most recent mil sim was some expansions to OF 1 about 7 years ago. They have only been working on racing games since then... And yet they still get get better reviews than ArmA II, even though Bohemia have MORE experiance with the genre and have (arguably) better staff. :p Edit: Zipper, I'm looking at a user score of 8.7. :)

Monkey, please be quiet. The game is just as great as we hoped, the only problem is that it's more glitchy than we hoped, and even though that is the case they are already working on the first patch for it. Agreed those sueing for dedicated servers are too whiny though: If they don't like the game ask for a refund. And I will just say this about the game being crap. ArmA II Metacritic Score: 77. OFP2:DR Metacritic Score: 81. That is all.

Don't you think that's a bit on the cruel side? Just because it isn't a die-hard mil-sim doesn't mean it becomes only suggestible to buy when it becomes bargin bin price. You made some good points though, so maybe get the game in about 2 months when the price is a little cheaper.

Yeah, USUALLY. But they could be still polishing it as we speak. I mean really, what's the point of just not working on a game when there could be glitches you don't know about?

Agreed there. But from the looks all the pre-release reviews for it have been positive, so the post-release ones with a bit of extra polish should be even better. :) P.S: If anybody is getting the 360 version of the game when it comes out, PM me, apparently the games problems disappear if you play the game through co-op with a headset.

UK review for Operation Flaspoint is out on IGN. Final review score is 8.1. The 2 main issues with the review are that the A.I glitches out a bit too often and also the menus are awquard for a console game. Guess that's the cost for not simplifying the console games in any way. Anyway you can check it out here.

Agreed there, Ulysses. I get annoyed when good games get simplified on consoles. *cough* DARK MESSIAH *cough* Edit for ch: Yes, it is a matter of representation. Yet that representation can make such a difference to the players, and it certainly makes everything look an awful lot less unwieldly. It doesn't matter if you have to go through several menus: It is still much less unwieldly and you get into the hang of it much quicker. Well I'm off to play The Beatles, I'll continue this discussion later. :p

...In your opinion. In mine the Dragon Rising one is great, and is much simpler than the random numbers. And in responce to the "very fast" part you can just use hotkeys. "Knowing them "acciently" by heart" is the same as learning. :p And yeah, I don't play it a lot. Hmmkay, let Wolle decide. :)

Well thanks Mad, and yeah I just wanted to have an interesting discussion of the 2 games. :) If you check my last links while the reviewers noted bugs some said that they were WAY fewer than ArmA II. True, it does not necessarily make it a better game. However, it DOES make it more accessible to a wider audiance, so Codemasters are helping themselves and makes the game less likely to be a financial failure. :) Yes, again refering to the console version, because most stratagy games are simplified for the consoles, and so it's refreshing to see that it isn't simplified on consoles. And you can't really say anything about that to ArmA II since it's only on PC. And being more of a game than a simulation is better, as it's more accessible, and more accessibility means it's easier to get into, and being easier to get into means it can fun quicker. Edit response to Herbal: Fair enough on the first post. I can't remember the numbers exactly, but I have edited my post to what I think is more correct. Well my point is that in a very good/excellent squad-based game you aren't required to remember a random number sequence to send out orders quickly and effectively: You can simply figure it out within a couple of seconds. And while you can do that for ArmA II it takes longer. Surely you can admit that? And to answer your question: Because we are convinced enough by the gameplay and trailers that the game is fantastic.
