    New beta build 71548 up

    Buildings seem to have more of a fps hit now then they did in previous patches, everything else has improved massively. If this can be addressed or improved I will be happy.

    New Beta Build 70951 is up!

    I lost my ca_ah64D.pbo installing this. Never had any beta problems before though. FPS is up but still nowhere where it was back in 1.01.

    Immersion Mod (Sound)

    This is my type of mod! Loving the preview video too! Few ideas ive had that would really add atmosphere -Dripping from trees after rain -Rain on metal surfaces -Gulls near the coastlines -Skidding tyres? (surface dependant) Lowered radio volume in stealth mode Will think of loads more im sure of it Keep us posted of any news on this!
  4. I just rolled back to 60000 to see how much progress has been made, and I have to say the ai has improved massively. However i got much better performance in 60000, and now in the latest beta im struggling for fps again.
  5. Just thought id share my experiences with these beta patches with the community. The best performance ive had out of arma 2 was with 59210. Fast texture loading, smooth, good constant fps. No crashes for me. Ive tested all the patches since and non have improved on this for me performance wise. The latest few betas (latest 6xxxx) have had a bad effect on performance for me despite the imense other improvements. (further terrain detail draw could be the cause?) I have to say i cant really enjoy the better ai without a reasonably smooth playing experience. Also i must thank Suma and the way the team who make this game are in contact with the community that play it to find how it can be made even greater. So just wondering, what patch has brought the smoothest game for you ?
  6. Not sure if its just me but when I have soldiers sat in the back of the MTVR their satchels can be seen poking through the side of the truck on both sides. Can something please be done about the street lights at night time? Also a suggestion. When a medic is ordered to heal a member of the group, would it be possible to have the commander say "5, HEAL, 4" instead of just "machine gunner" or "man". Would sound a little more realistic to me. Thanks for the work on the patches. I test them all but play the game 59210 for best performance reasons.
  7. Have to say performance is about on par with 95210, so if theres anyone out there still on 95210, get 60000! Wooded areas have a more of an fps hit for me than before, as does water, but on the whole its good news. Some thoughts. BAD I think the night sky texture is terrible, the stars are too bright and big! Still no death animation from static defences. I personally think there isnt enough backwards recoil on some weapons especially when stood. Are we seriously stuck with lights at night looking as bad as that? GOOD I was surpressed in a ditch! I flanked the enemy out of sight and they still fired on my last known position. This is awesome. Rainfall stops under the canopy of trees (ive only just noticed this, may have been fixed earlier) Im sure i'll think of many more as soon ive pressed 'submit reply'
  8. Theyre certainly working hard, will try 60000. Im still on 59210 because for me ive lost fps on all the the patches after it. Will see how this does and will report back

    New in game radio?

    Yes i understand what you mean by radio protocol my example was purely academic. Encouraging to hear it is possible as I think it would add much more atmosphere. Particularly in emotional moments, we have 'oh no, 1...is down' said in a casual matter of fact way like hes taking the p**s. When i first heard original arma radio i thought 'what is this?' It seems Op Flash DR has a similar system that works a bit better.
  10. Would like to see a entirely abandoned and wild island with terrain similar to chernogorsk but without towns or human influence. Would be immersive for tank battles and would call for real tactical play. I would make it myself if it was as easy to make islands for Arma as it was OFP.
  11. Just wondering if would be possible in theory to create a mod for the terribly robotic radio procedure in Arma2. 'Man, front, far' etc. I understand that the engine makes compound messages from many different clips but would it be possible to design a mod with slightly more human sounding recordings. OR single clips for situations instead of compound ones. eg instead of 'Man, front, far' it could be 'I see someone far to our front' Just to make it more human. With the huge arma community it would create a huge varied library of sounds and responses. Anyway i dont even know if this is possible and/or legal. Thanks for any thoughts.

    Better Camo.

    Simple one this that would make a big difference to me. When stood up and even when laying, units are far to distinguishable against the grass or terrain. In woods especially, the camo colour doesnt get darker and so enemy units stand out brilliantly, making them look pretty obvious. Also in bright sunlight the skin (face and hands) is super bright even from a long distance, making them so obvious. I dont know whether this is to do with the new arma2 textures or the gfx engine in general, but if the unit textures reacted to light a bit better it would look a whole lot better, and probably be a better challenge. Thanks for any thoughts.
