i wouldn't expect them to! and of course there is a need to verify they are customers - it seems i just misread your first reply - it didn't seem as though you were that open to the idea of replacing discs and keys at all- i would never expect it for just a sob story, proof of purchase is necessary. yeah this was totally my bad in reading - gotta study english a bit better :-)

can't really argue with that - but from a philosophical standpoint do you think that is ok? I mean, i know it's not your call , and maybe you could care less... but do you not think it a "good" thing, for a company to to do as much as possible to help customers enjoy the product they have already purchased? No it's not their fault but again, it would cost them little to nothing to make the files available freely - and without a key you can't play anyway so what's the big deal? it's not even BIS' decision in this case but the publishers as you mentioned - but you seem to be so sure that the way it is, is the way it should be - i'm curious as to why?

yeah it happened in the combat training as well, have not tried it in a mission yet. am getting the feel for SP before i go into MP again - i didn't do horrible just kinda confused. I get in the chopper, wait for him to say checklist ok start engine, and i click action, select engine on, and the fuel drops , i get kicked and fail. critical engine damage or something to that effect. happens after a few seconds in basic, immediately in combat, i have 1.16b and the ACE mod installed, could either of those be causing it? it is ACE 1.09. thanks again.

ooh, cool. i mean, not cool - but at least i know it's not me being stupid :-) thanks!

I'm not sure what i am missing. All the other training was easy, expert marksman, sniper, etc. but with the basic helicopter course, i get in the chopper, wait for him to say checklist is ok start the engines i choose start engine and immediately it drops the fuel to 0 and i get kicked from the chopper, then it says engine damage. i have tried the other options as well, before choosing engine on, in different combos. it's gotta be something really simple i am just missing i imagine - thanks in advance. -Kyle

by your logic plank, if i bought the game and lost the case or the key, i would have full rights to get another one, as it's not the key i am purchasing -it's the files. maybe it was my fault i lost the key, but if that's not what i am paying for then there is no reason i should not be given another one , for free... is there? regardless of the logic - the law is very grey in this area. it is legal to make your own backup copy. it is not legal to share your backup copy , but the legality of downloading a backup when you own an original copy (broken or not) is not specifically expressed. you are obviously not allowed to download a backup when you do not own an original, but as i said - grey. i am not trying to troll, or start a fight - and i love the game and the sequel, both of which i have purchased - however treating your customers like/assuming we are criminals is not the way to win our hearts. you may have hung a lantern on it afterwards - but that is still very much the idea you expressed. I just hate when i go into a forum and see mods/devs acting as though customers are trying to rip them off. we make you, you should be going out of your way to make our experience as fun and easy as possible. BIS should send replacement discs (not keys) for free, regardless of who broke it. it would cost less than a dollar to burn and mail a disc , and liable or not the image it would portray would be , gasp - a company that actually cares about it's customers. even if hundreds broke a year, it wouldn't hurt their bottom line. i created this account to post a problem i am having in arma 1, but i simply had to reply to this. it is all too common an attitude, and it is the reason i no longer buy EA, or Ubisoft games. worry less about piracy and more about patching. make it a product people WANT to own, and those that still pirate it would never have bought it in the first place. not that that excuses them, but there is no sense wasting your energy on people that would never have contributed anyway.
