  1. no no no! wait for patches and download the latest beta patches.

    http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

you can easily overclock your cpu to 3.8 Ghz with the intel stock cooler, just watch for temperature hike. If you can setup a RAID 0 "only for gaming then go for it" if not then look up on how to use RAMDISK in this forum. Turn AA off or low, terrain details to low, PP to low/off, put the rest on normal. Also experiment with overcloking your GPU which i don't know how because i own ATI.

Thanks for the answers. I'm running SATA HDDs.

I regularly update my drivers but no changes.

Also the beta patches don't work. I get an error message when launching the game with the beta (Error compiling pixel shader PSSSMSpecularAlpha:1). So I'll be waiting for the patch regarding the update or a new beta that might work.

  2. Heya!

I'd love some advices/comments on my system. I thought it was ok but I have major graphic lag sometimes. I upgrade the chassis and CPU's fans so now the temperatures are ok.

    My system:

OS: Windows XP SP3 (always up to date)

    CPU: Intel Core2Duo E8400 (3.0GHz)

    RAM: 4Gb DDR2 (800MHz if I remember correctly)

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+ (512mb)

    MB: Asus P5Q

The game even in medium settings is slow sometimes. Especially when encountering heavy effects like explosions, many characters etc...

Running on 1.04 patch, using ArmA II launcher I activated the 2 cpu count, windows XP etc...

    Should I update anything?

  3. I agree with AnimalMother92.

    The voices/dialogs are kinda ridiculous.

They make me think about some low budget action movie. The kind of bad movie you watch when surfing through TV channels when you have nothing better to do than waste time on the couch.

But not something important at all: I mainly play MP. Voice actors can be expensive so I'd rather see the budget put into something more important.

  4. To me a simple "generic" knife slash movement would be good.

A good point in favor of the "knife slash" against the "bayonet" for me is that the knife "slash" is not linked to your main weapon. Thus making it more realistic than bayonets attached to all weapons. Although you can adapt almost any weapon to receive a knife as bayonet the militaries do not attach them on all weapons (for example: MP5SD6 bayonet?).

  5. Something that could be implemented into the AI system are default "formations".

What I mean for example you are sweeping a town. you keep one guy with you to cover your back and direct the rest of your team by sight. You select the three other guys aim for the wall in front of you click on it and the three guys move on it and adopt a 180 covering using the wall to cover the other 180. A guy watching the front, the other the side and the last one the back.

I remember a game offered the ability to do that but I fail to remember which one.

Also the movements of the AI could be more "tatical". Add another "behaviour" to the "aware", "safe" etc... ones. When activated the AI would act as mentionned before, walk more carefully covering various directions rather than "straight ahead".

  6. I am sure someone probably mentionned it already but: faster switch between handgun and main weapon would be nice. In real life it is faster to switch to your sidearm than to reload. In ArmA2 I just do not see much difference.

Perhaps this can be solved in a patch maybe?
