  1. I started a scenario (Trial By Fire) after installing the mods ACE, CBA, and RWS. The difficulty was set to veteran, as I have been playing ARMA 2 for over a year. I also have OA installed. I got my butt kicked (as usual when playing on veteran), I tried to "Revert" to the auto-save, and got this message: "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.acex_wep_hk, acex_main, acex_m_wep_hk, acex_s_wep_hk" I am currently downloading ACEX v1.8 and seeing if this will resolve this issue. Otherwise, I can't load from the autosave.
  2. "# AI conquers buildings" One thing I notice about playing ARMA 2 is that the AI never goes into buildings for cover, never fires from inside buildings, even though all those spaces are open for use. The only time the AI enters a building is if they pursue me while I'm inside. And the AI acts very rigid, in that they turn to face me in a very robotic way. Their reactions are not as fast as it is in some games. They seem slower and sluggish in close quarters.

    VopSound 2.1

Pardon me if this is a stupid question, but does this change the gun sounds in the game to sound more realistic? I am looking for a mod that makes the gun sounds more realistic and powerful. Some of the gun sounds are alright, but it would be nice to have the echoes, crack-bang, and so forth. Ever played that game Medal of Honor? I was thinking of sounds that could match that quality.
  4. Or do I really have to purchase OA on Steam in order for the PMC expansion to work (if I were to purchase it on Steam)? Obviously I don't want to pay for another copy. Please answer this simple question. It is so difficult to ask questions, even in the information age.
  5. That isn't too pricey for the content. I think I will go for it. Plus, I am all for supporting the developers.
  6. OK, thanks. I see on Sprocket you have to pay in pounds, which makes it slightly more expensive. I try my best to save money, not to be a cheap bastard or anything. ---------- Post added at 09:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:42 PM ---------- I'm a noob here, so sorry for all the noob questions that have probably been answered many times before. You would be surprised how hard it is to find answers to simple questions, even with search queries!
  7. I knew somebody would manage to misunderstand what I was saying and turn it on me... I said I have the retail version of OA, meaning I purchased a copy through a retail vendor, NOT Steam. I KNOW it says on Steam that you need to purchase OA off of Steam in order for it to work... I was just wondering if I absolutely had to buy a copy of OA off of Steam in order to get a copy of the PMC expansion to work (IF I were to purchase it off Steam).... Because OBVIOUSLY, I don't want to buy another copy. ---------- Post added at 08:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:57 PM ---------- Anyway, I think you answered it there... Thanks anyway.
  8. I installed the 1.57 patch and it added the PMC and BAF to the list of units. I didn't get the expansion with the BAF, nor did I get the PMC expansion yet. When I start a game with any of the BAF or PMC units, the detail on their bodies looks far less detailed. Their clothes look like a basic rendering. Is this because I don't have those other expansions installed? Should the models render out in detail even though I don't have the expansion? It is like the 1.57 patch to OA comes with extras for the other expansions. It also added Shapur and Proving Grounds to the map list.

    Error: Device freed

Guys, I don't think it is the editor specifically that is crashing the game. Let me describe the conditions that cause this error on my end: I have the minimum required specs to run the game (demo at the moment, ordered the full version), I got it running at normal display. This happens in any game situation, the game will run fine for a while, but it will slow down, get really choppy, then it will say "Receiving..." more and more frequently. Eventually, it will stop "receiving" and the game will exit to the desktop along with a pop-up message "Error: device freed". When I try to restart the game, I either get a "not enough physical memory" or an "invalid call" from my Nvidia driver. I have to then restart the computer to be able to play the game. I notice the pauses in the frame rate at times are to allow the game to render the textures fully, but sometimes it does not recover fully and I guess my computer loses the pace. I am thinking I need to either get another gig of memory and-or upgrade the video card, or maybe I will just count on the full version being more stable than the demo (though it doesn't seem promising). I see one guy has 2 gigs of ram and yet still gets this problem. What gives?
