    3D surround sound

Well, its not real EAX, but the software alternative from Asus. Also Arma 2 does not support EAX, since it uses Windows XAudio. I don't use rear channels, I only have a 2.1 Sound system. In addition, the dolby headphone and 7.1 sound emulation add a weird delay to the sound which can be confusing, so I don't use them anymore.

    3D surround sound

Well, I bought a D1 now. The sound has much more punch with the additional "Dolby Headphone" and "7.1 Speaker Simulation" combined.

    3D surround sound

Since I have tried the ACRE-Mod, I am interested in some 3D Sound for ArmA 2. In Arma, I use my Plantronics .Audio 770 Stereo-Headphones with plain old onBoard-Sound. Aside from that, I use the Creative I-Trique 3220 2.1 sound system Now, I was thinking of getting a better sound card mainly for the purpose of better sound direction detection. So far I have seen recommendations for the Creative X-FI XtremeGamer and the Asus Xonar Series DS, DG or the D1. The reviews for the Creative Recon3d cards were rather bad and since EAX is sort-of-dead I am leaning towards the Asus cards. I bet some of you have already tested some of these cards and are able to give me a recommendation. Which gives you a better feeling for sound direction in game? Would I want Dolby Headphone only (DG) or DTS only (DS) or Dolby Headphone with Dolby Digital Live (D1)?
  4. Thank you a lot Liquidpinky! This beta-driver seems to work so far. Now it can be used as a: 1. 2D Mouse 2. 3D Mouse 3. Joystick or 4. Keyboard The Senisitivity Settings behave a little different and the default buttons do other stuff, but that can be reassigned with macros, when i need it. Have to fiddle around a little. Using it as a Throttle for my Joystick and as a steering wheel works so far, although I really have to adjust the sensitivity.
  5. *UPDATE* I contacted the BI-Tech-Support directly and received the following answer: Unfortunately I was not able to improve the behavior of the SpaceNavigator via its Software. With ~2 people supporting the product being implemented, it won't happen in the future.

    SpaceNavigator as a game controller?Pan

A little update on this topic if anyone cares. Another Thread also deals with the SpaceNavigator: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=82808 Apparently Arma II now recognizes the SpaceNavigator as an input device. Although its not working properly. Alternatively the so called RBC9 driver is able to convert the SN into a Joystick, which can be assigned to in Arma. But as I remember from my tests, it didn't react properly too.
  7. Hi there, I have discovered this too (but only now, two years later). It is possible to assign the axes to certain actions, but it doesn't behave as expected. For example: If you assign the forward-axis to forward movement (e.g. for a vehicle), as soon as you push the controller forwards, it goes into full speed and doesn't stop until you crank it backwards again, where it goes into full backwards speed. I would _love_ to pan and zoom over the map with my SpaceNavigator. This function doesn't seem to be implemented, though. Aside from that, I could imagine a "seamless" motion-control, to sneak around corners, a vehicle control or whatever you can think of regarding some kind of analog control, that makes sense. It is true, that the SpaceNavigator has to be actively searched for by the application, to be detected and I was surprised and astounded to find it supported. Sadly its of no use (yet?). If anyone has updates, hints and tips on this subject, please let me know!
  8. Thats right King, afaik the aimpoint sight should be somehow like in
  9. I have, yes. I never would have guessed that would cause such a problem. Is there already another thread related to this issue? I couldnt find one, so sorry if i just opened another thread about this. EDIT: here is the Thread (found it now) http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=83017&highlight=trackir+editor Thanks for the help, Thirdup!
  10. Hi Everyone! I have a very strange Problem with the editor. When i try to place a unit, the doubleclick doesnt seem to work... To be fair, it sometimes does work, but its very rare and only happens every 50th time, after repeatingly mashing the button. First everything was fine, it just happend in the last days. Reinstalling didnt help. Anyone else experienced this, too? Any solution/suggestions? I had this Problem in the demo version, too. Version is: 1.03.58627
  11. Hi Everyone! I have a serious concern about the ironsight. I don't know if this is the right topic here, since I am not able to make any contributions, due to a lack of any weaponry experience. It might be, that the following is a bug, that is already known (I couldn't find it in the forums)... But nevertheless, the title says "Aiming difficulties with ironsights and aimpoints" so I will report my difficulties: When I go prone or stand, the sight is relatively steady. But when i crouch, aiming is inacurate. Its hard to explain. Its not, that the bullet flys in a diffent direction, the gun is just a little twisted. Just see these pictures: this is the G36 C standing. Notice, that both rings are concentrical and they stay like that. Everything is fine here. 846 kb !!! this is the G36 C crouching. This time, the rifle is constantly shifting. I have marked the bullet-hole in red. 726 kb !!! The result is, that aiming is nearly impossible, when crouching but fine when standing. I have talked to a friend who has the same problem, but didnt notice, so i think it's a general problem. I have the latest official Patch (1.03.58627). I highly doubt, that aiming, while standing is more acurate than aiming while crouching.
