    Working on a laptop?

It sure do play on one of my notebooks though it´s an SLI notebook and although a pretty weak CPU in my sense. However the res is 1920x1200 ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkdRjOZsMXM
  2. What resolutions did you guys run arma2mark at? With my single GTX 260 OC and E6600 @ 3.2GHz I got 3583 at 1440x900 (max res) and with most options to Very High.

    What's wrong with my setup

Yeah do that, no point in arguing with you since you don´t want to understand anyway. Not sure about you´re validation about drivers, but saying they don´t yeild any increase is dead wrong since I test drivers every single day and benchmark them. Have a good day will ya :)

    What's wrong with my setup

Problem reading ethne? I say it again I compared 8800GTX SLI, TWO GPU´s of the old generation yes against one new GTX 280. The 8800GTX single GPU is very cheap now and even two of those GPU´s is cheap. You are wrong about drivers, video drivers can yield a 5% increase, well even more maybe that´s why Nvidia states increase of 10-15% with certain drivers, you assume Nvidia lies? I didn´t state that tweaking would make the old card as fast as the new card :) I said I read a lot of people who has performance problems even if they have a fast rig.

    What's wrong with my setup

I spoke about 8800GTX SLI not any SLI vs SLI. Where did I say 8800GTX SLI is near GTX 280 SLI? I said 8800GTX in SLI which is very cheap GPU´s now beats the GTX 280 in benchmarks. Read!! a single GTX 280. Let´s face it the GT200 is not any dramatic increase in performance over the 8800GTX, Ultra, or even 8800GT in SLI. I can say it again most comes down to use the correct drivers and utilize the system to the outmost. People with GTX 295 complains about performance, sure Arma 2 is very intensive but just sit and complain when they can look into the chipset drivers for instance, yes updating and installing them "forcing" can yield performance increases and decrease SLI stutter for sure if they have any. Switching profiles, using Nhancer made it easier can make dramatic increases in performance. Strange I don´t have any SLI stutter on my notebook and no stutter at all in Arma 2 with SLI on, that´s a combination of utilizing the correct drivers and optimize the operating system. I can say I am happy with my GTX 260 and don´t see any need to upgrade anytime soon, it runs Arma 2 beautifully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEkBWP8oUDg

    What's wrong with my setup

Well I can show other benchmarks then http://anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3334&p=11 Yeah it smokes a single 8800GTX but not two 8800GTX in SLI.

    What's wrong with my setup

Yes I actually didn´t feel the need to upgrade from my 8800GTX anyway. It ran Crysis really well, Crysis could be tweaked so much and that´s what I did and have done for my notebook too which runs the game at 1920x1200 with an average fps of 40 and that´s with 8800m GTX SLI in my XPS M1730. So the newer cores is not a huge jump over the older core. The GT300 will hopefully change that.

    What's wrong with my setup

The 8800GTX was a really good GPU and it took some years until something surpassed it. I have one myself an XFX 8800GTX now upgraded to a GTX 260 OC. I mean two 8800GTX in SLI today surpasses a GTX 280 in performance that means something, not all games but it is close, equal and beats it. The GT200 is not a huge increase in performance compared to the older core. However I am happy with my upgrade to a GTX 260 now I am still playing at my max res of 1440x900 and have no plans to upgrade to a larger TFT screen. Since I don´t need 22" for gaming at all when I can run all games at native res, I hate downscaling and blurry graphics, I like them crisp and my 1440x900 I keep mostly because the TFT I bought is really good and I can play natively for a very long time to come just like I did with my 8800GTX. Also it all comes down to how you optimize your system, there can be people with Quads and GTX 295 that runs game like crap, meanwhile you can have GTX 260 people that runs games like butter. You can´t just think you can throw in hardware without the know how to tweak games, drivers, operating system etc etc etc. Even my XPS M1730 8800m GTX SLI runs Arma 2 at 1920x1200 and that is not at low settings except the post processing and reading from many posts here it runs the game at 25-30+ fps depending on scenario. Tweak tweak and tweak is my tip and check your drivers, newer drivers doesn´t automatically mean better performance. Check the Tweakforce drivers, I backed down to XtremeG´s 180.84 drivers for XP and it runs Arma 2 better than the newer drivers.
  9. I have a GTX 260 factory overclocked, now overclocked to 712/1488/1080 and a Core2Duo 3.2 GHz, here is how Arma 2 runs on my GTX 260. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEkBWP8oUDg I would recommend trying other drivers, I reverted back to older drivers the XtremeG 180.84 drivers and runs the game in Win XP SP3, runs good as can be seen and this with Very High settings too and max res of 1440x900.
