how do you unlock the elements in the Armory ? Anyway to quick and easily unlock the choppers for example ? I hate locked contents. It's my game, I paid for it, why is it you don't allow me to use all the things I want when I want ? For example Gran Turismo comes with the best cars locked, if you don't play it hard enough, you never can drive the best cars. That's nonsense. I buy the game, if I want to play with the greatest car from minute 1, that's just my problem and I should not be forced to spend so many hours just to get my content. Same goes here, if I want to play in armory with the AH1z from the beginning, why is it you suppose you can forbid this to me ? I paid just like the others, now give me my content, come on.

Huh ? I never had the mission to transport any prisoner ?? anyway, putting them in the ammo crates would have saved all this teamkilling and searching of a way to see something. PLUS it seems that the first time I load the the mission to continue, the night is somewhat clear enough to see something. Then I die and reload and it's way darker after that... -
I agree, I have a mid machine, only GPU is new, I get 22-30fps in ARMA and 100-120 in OFPDR. Come one guys, they have done something right, we can admit it, even if that's the only thing. And I don't agree it's 2005 graphics, the graphics event look better than Arma on some points (though I know they don't load the same stuff). The most disappointing thing for me is the lack of TrackIR and joystick support. This is "foutage de gueule" as we say in french (meaning it's a bad joke). I should have been suspicious when I read they would release the game for PC and consoles at the same time... cause this is a console game.

Hard to find an officer (and kill him) in the complete dark, I should have done this before. Friend get ready to be sacrified ;-) (btw why do you hide the body ? Do the UN inspect the field afterwards ? :D) -

woaaaaa nice idea :-) bad you have to kill a teammate in order to play this mission (cause no, without NVG you just can't see anything and play the mission). I tried to find some on ennemies, buy at base, but had no luck. Now I'm gonna kill my friends! (wouldn't his teammates kill me afterwards ? If I remember in FP you were killed by the other in case of teamkill) -
Hey guys, yesterday I tried for the first time the fast travel option... ahum ahum all I can say is that I almost got sick how fast this travel is... (or in decoded: I almost got asleep waiting...) :D:D

very sure, you can see it in the preferences, it lists an xbox controller, and in the fact that it does not seem to support TrackIR if I'm right. The complete menu construction reflects a console state of mind

well, i tried it a bit more, very nice looking, but not what I was waiting for. Nice game, but far from Arma2. IMHO neither Arma2 nor OFPDR could reach the height of first Operation Flashpoint, but the one coming the closest to it is Arma2, no doubt. Great atmosphere in OFPDR, great sounds, there does not seem to be graphical flickering we find in arma, maybe less stupid IA (which sometimes is Arma fun killer), well it's certainly a good game, but it does not deserve the "Operation Flashpoint 2" name.

Gamespoint gives a 7.5 (good) to PS3 version, no ranking for PC yet. the good: Realism creates a great sense of tension Good variety of weapons and vehicles Long, challenging missions Entertaining multiplayer modes. The Bad AI makes notable blunders Assorted bugs and hitches. I personnally launched it and played like 45 seconds at midday, but I had a good first feeling. More when more tests done, but to what concerns me, I'm open to find it cool if it is and have no a priori for ArmA or OFP. (ArmA2 is sometimes soooo frustrating too, so...)

Why cant we give orders while recieving a message!
highfly replied to Cascinova's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
100% agree, but I wouldn't say it's annoying, I'd say it's a SHAME -
Well, I'm gonna say it as I think: I don't like (at all) how the campaign, and missions, evolve. First missions are soooo beautiful & enjoyable, why is it that after some time you get in that game of all genres (capture the flag, real time strategy AND even a bit of city management...) that is finally of no genre at all ? I mean, I want to play ArmA, the son of Flashpoint, neither command & conquer, nor Battlefield. what's this capture the flag thing inside MY war simulator ? what's this (completely obscure) high command module inside MY war simulator ? what's that poor slider of "city management" ? Is it some simcity too ? what's this "buy unit" thing ??? I buy a unit at war ? and it appears just like this ? c'mon, give me my squad and I'm taking all the island. Are you sure I should not send 3 farmers in the fields to make food, build a goldmine to make money, and of course an iron mine so the factories can work ? That's not the game I wanted. I don't want to capture flags, nor command whole armies, I want to play a campaign as a soldier/spec op/tank unit/chopper unit, eventually squad leader, just like it was in OFP. Now this game becomes some kind of a hybrid mutant... Did the commercials at BI say "hmm we should put some capture the flag stuff in order to sell more copies, who cares if we suck all the spirit out of this game, money counts" ? I'm not going to finish the campaign, I'm not going to finish the single missions, I'm going to play user made single missions where you take care of your ass, and maybe a squad's ass, but not a whole army over 10 cities... that's nonsense. Sad, cause a good chopper mission is excellent in Arma2, a good infiltration mission is also excellent, the game environment is in credible, but the content BI did put in the game is... just off the road. Just wanted to share my frustration :) Now I go back playing!
-
Then what do you do ?? only mulitplayer ? I tried once, but nobody was there... so I left...
-
so can you please give me the best ArmA2 campaign in your opinion, which is no warfare but very good quality ? (if lots of chopper missions, better :-))
-
One more time, I don't say Warfare is of not interest for anybody, I just say I don't like that, and the campaign I found in ArmA2 did not live to my great expectations. They should just have made two campaigns: one with all this stuff, and one more like the first missions (which by the way and one more time are soooo great) or more OFP style. So everybody would have had a choice, and this thread would not have existed. As for doing Badlands with ONLY razor team, I wish you good luck, taking second village is easy, but counter-attack is IMO way too hard for me and 3 guys who love to stay up when shot at ;-) I read it, but I don't agree. It's quite hard to find GOOD campaigns (I mean differentiating good from bad ones) from the community without investing a great time on forums & testing campaigns which is time consuming (btw if you can give me a great one, I take it). With a built in campaign, you have something official, which *should be* a insurance on quality. By the way, I tink very few people would buy a game that is just a gaming system with no content.
-
you're not wrong, but still, many campaign missions AND single player missions use the things I don't like, so my title is not so wrong, as this is the most part of the game's content. I don't agree campaign is a small part of the game. The game I buy is mostly campaign and single player missions. Then if I download extra user content, this is not really "the game" but extensions to it. anyway, can you change a thread title ? IF yes, how ? ---------- Post added at 02:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:27 PM ---------- ok, sorry then... I didn't read it like this, but I guess you're right about speaking of other games.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love ArmA, and enjoy plaing it a lot, that's why I'm here. All I don't like is this high command modules which does not suit, IMHO, a game like this. That's why from now on I'm gonna concentrate on user made content that suits my desires. But still I will keep commenting here to say what I like or not. For the people saying: go play COD, or BF2, guys you don't get it. That's exactly the part of the game that makes ArmA closer to capture the flag games that I'm criticizing. I don't want ArmA to become one more flag capture game, just like all the others. One guy said it right: high command module, base building, units buying should belong to multi player, and multi player only. That's nothing to do in single player campaign. You may like and drive a car, but not the way the constructor made the seats. Will you throw the car away for this or tell the constructor he could do better with the seats next time? Personally I say what I think. If you don't complain and say what you think, how can people make better the next time ?
-
God damn me, I never read something that stupid... What, I criticize ArmA then I'm not a man ? If it really was for smart men, you would not be able to play it. Come on go back playing legos war. What's all this hate ? Gosh! are you so in love with BI it makes you blind and cuts out any judgement you might have ? Who are you to say who has or has not to be here ? The most troubling and trolling post here around is yours. It has no point with the subject, and is full of arrogance. Come on guys, grow up. Are you all 14yo here ? The real problem of these forums is the people who flame you down as soon as you say something that they don't like. Some people in older times called this attitude "fascism". The nature and goal of a forum is to allow people to say what they think. No, the goal of a forum is not for people to say what you like. This is my thread, Hotel is welcome to say what he thinks, wether you like it or not, I just don't care.

Excellent! thanks! thanks for that, but do you have to play chopper to unlock choppers ? or they are not related ? For the fun you talk about, yes, except that after some time (maybe less in ArmA than in Gran Turismo), you get bored with the game, and if by that time you did not get the locked items, you will have paid for a game but will never have tried it at its best... that's what I don't like. Locked is ok, but not unlockable only by people playing 10hours/day.
-
Why am I not surprised about this out-of-subject answer ? yes, in the editor you can, I know, thank you, but you don't have the challenges that you have in the armory... and they're quite cool I think. anyway, my question was clear was it not ? I just and only ask how you unlock those things in the armory
-
three thumbs up!! That's my exact point ;) cheers
-
just to know, cause I saw the videos, and they look quite great! so, who will buy it ? Answer the truth, no one will know ;-)
-
I will!!! for sure, and we'll see who's the one, there can only be one ;-) ---------- Post added at 09:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:59 PM ---------- well in fact, no, not sorry, cause your poll is too old. It was before there were any ingame footage/picts. As said my post, based on what you saw till now (videos / screens) will you buy it ?

:j: ooops sorry

yes, but in OFP, I remember having once finished an infantry mission with an enemy chopper. That was unfair battle, cause with the chopper, I was way stronger and they had not a chance. But in order to get that chopper in this infantry mission in which I was definitely not supposed to get one, I had to run a long way, find an enemy base, steal that chopper, and then kill them all. That was such a great fun! I had won this chopper cause I went to take it by foot far away. I didn't go in any magic shop. That's the OFP spirit that's been lost in ArmA2 (IMHO)
