  2. The recoil isnt that bad compared to real assault rifles. I actually think it seems very close to 5,56mm. The other thing that is a plus with the recoil is that "campers" or defenders etc. Dont have a "game zero recoil" ala many fps games vs attacking players.
  3. Most Betas I have been in have had people that say this. Its so annoying. The most recent is PS2. A game where the Dev team was close to a hundred people. Guess what. Many of the *"Beta is Beta" issues where never addressed in the Beta because of lack of time before launch. You really think Bis will have higher productivity than SOE? Oh and since its in open Beta now. When are we going to talk about issues like this if we are not supposed to talk about anything without getting the Beta is Beta argument every time in Beta... *(What your playing now is NOT a Alpha stage software. 11 year old Alpha with 3 earlier retail versions released?) That thread is kinda old. Didnt they say they had some issues with the ToH interaction with PhysX and that they where not sure anymore? Anyway, I would rather I am wrong on the latter though.

  5. Its supposed to be representative of a real helicopter toward ground operations, not AirWolf. LoL Nope, they have said they will add the ToH helicopters to the game, not that the A3 helicopters will have ToH abilities. That said, they have also hinted that they might make ToH version of the A3 helicopters, but they will not have the same expert consultant input ToH had. The infantry combat it very good, at least in PvP. AI is AI. That said, yeah, I kinda agree. Both vehicle physics and flight seems off. I get the impression they have mostly focused on artwork, getting new tech to function and infantry. The rest have been more of a afterthought. Makes me worried for release since its not THAT long to Q3.
  6. Yes. 1. First start the game and create your new profile with default settings. This so it creates the folder you need to enter. Shut down the game. 2. Go to C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Arma 3 Alpha and copy the two profile files with the old nick and settings in them. 3. Then go to C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Arma 3 Alpha - Other Profiles\NewNick Paste the copied files into this folder. 4. Cut the NewNick files and paste them to desktop. The files with the default settings you do not want. 5. With the NewNick files moved rename the OldNick files into the NewNick file names. Just right click rename the desktop files and copy the text. 6. Once you have done this the NewNick profile will have the same settings as the OldNick profile. Start the game and select the NewNick profile. Done.

    If you use AutoHotKey, a free small program where you can have text files changing keys etc for each game, its very simple to make. Example: ; Auto Walk $F1:: Send, {w down} return Press F1 to auto walk. Press w once to stop it.
  8. Its an Alpha. It is NOT the full game. The game will be out in Q3 2013 or something. It will probably get delayed, but whatever LoL. If you want more missions etc try http://www.armaholic.com To increase performance turn off vsync, set shadows to low and disable vsync and see if that helps.

    Better animations?

    I kinda agree. Most are more fluid, but for example going prone and sprinting looks very "studio" green screen like. He lays himself calmly down. With knee pads in the military you throw yourself to the ground even if you only get shot at with similition. Sprinting looks unnatural compared to A2. Who really -sprints- with no real body momentum and increased arm sway...

    I havent tested the helis yet, but I think I know what you are talking about. In A2 the helis where easy to fly, but in Operation Arrowhead they correctly made several of the helicopters feel more "heavy" and I assume thats what you have felt in A3 since its probably more like A2 than OA

    If anyone is wondering. GTX680 and up has frame checking, or whatever its called, which reduces screen tear. It only works with vsync off. So if you have a GTX680 one should really run games with vsync off from now on for those two reasons.

    Concerns regarding ArmA III overall feel.

    Pretty sure A3 ACE will nerf the strafe speed while in optics and similar because thats something you cant rally do in real life that well, but otherwise the combat feel is much better for a computer game. The problem in A2 was that combat was to unnatural hard in some spots because of movement limits you would not have in real life.
  14. If you look at the enemies and hold the right mouse button you will "communicate" to the AI that you have spotted a enemy. If you are within range etc. From there you can tell a AI under your command to attack it by pressing the AIs F key, selecting the target menu [2] and then the correct target on the list. Example: Right click hold a few times on enemy. You character reports. "Enemy soldier so and so". Now you want soldier 2 to attack him. F2,2,3. "2 attack soldier so and so." "Roger" The AI will try to complete the command. Note: Real players only get the red icons around the enemy if your AI commanding you is giving you a target command OR if your squad are human players and you give them a command via the ingame command system.
  15. I looked at it and its the same system. Every order is the same and even little system things are there. Like in the action menu [6]. Option nr 1 is always to heal a soldier that is injured if a soldier is injured. So yeah, A3A command system is the A2 system. The only dif is that spacebar is reconfigured to not be command mode key. Which kinda breaks my VAC voice command profile, but you only have to edited the key bindings at little. Remove spacebar from Use action and Use default action and add spacebar to Command mode bindings. If you have issues with the A2 system you really should test voice commands. (See Sig)
  16. Not sure how it works, but there is a Module in A3A editor that is named Respawn. It probably has something to do with what you are asking for...

    Does wind affect things yet?

    Not totally sure, but I think ToH had a system where parts of the map was set to a "wind type". As in you enter a area trigger zone and the flight impacts of wind change. That way you could simulate at that area the wind shifts a bit before so you can feel it in the controls etc. I dont think it had a fully dynamic wind system. Someone correct me if I am wrong though.

    A practical example from Take On Helicopters which also has the same tech. I am flying the helicopter and a outside camera is following me so I can see the helicopter I am flying on the live screen in my helicopter. If you look carefully you can also see that the image is also being sent to a huge screen on land. IMAGE LINK

    Arma 3 Performance vs. Arma 2

    Lets just say Arma 2 runs very well on higher settings on my rig (I7-920 stock, 6gigs, 32bit OS, GTX680). Take on Helicopters with dynamic clouds, picture in picture etc dose not. Needed to go much lower in that game to get a decent fps to play single player... Point is, I am pretty sure Arma 3 will not run "good enough" for the average hardcore PC gamer on the "recommend" hardware.

    ArmA 3 on Steamworks?

    Yes, I will buy it on Steam. I am also hoping that SteamWorks will enable places that hold events or similar will have a option to put up a page and a click option to install the mods they use with a optional shortcut for desktop. Once Steam is primary I also think most of the Steam issues will go away because they have been only issues because the Steam client has been the secondary one.
  21. Carrier Command: I am just wondering how other people feel about this. Personally I would think this game would do better if it had MP at launch and would rather get it then than waiting for MP at a later date when the game might be dead because it lacked having it to keep it alive after the single player was done. Whats your view? :confused:

    Just hope both games can benefit from each other rather than the DayZ Retail game being similar to Iron front by not having access to the latest RV engine features.

    Game Save Location

    Its saved in the folder: C:\Users\YourComputerName\Documents\Take On Helicopters\YourPlayerNick\Saved\hsim\missions_h\campaign\campaign.sqc Or if you are not using the default profile: C:\Users\...\Documents\Take On Helicopters Other Profiles\...\Saved\hsim\missions_h\campaign\campaign.sqc For a transfer to your laptop I would copy the folder with your name. See \YourPlayerNick\ above. That way you will also transfer all your settings and key bindings. Just install the game on your laptop. Then create you nick unless you are using default. Then go to the area where its created. Delete the folder and paste your old one. Boot up the game and check if its working. Usually if a save file cant be found in the main games folders its usually in a folder in the C:\Users\ComputerName\Documents area under a name similar to the game.
