British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Elric de Melnibone replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Ah, cheers mate. I guessed something along these lines. So how realistic or at least 'possible' is the equipment and vehicular support the Brits in the DLC-pack, really? Is it completely unrealistic and weird or at least 'feasible'? Ye know, I'm personally just happy to get some official Brit addons, and the voices sound damn nice, but I'm not really satisfied with the rest. -

So... -Is- there an anti-material rifle used by the British Army? -

Oh, I'm sure I can and will shell out 9€ for the DLC. And I honestly don't care what the community or other people decide to do. It's each man and womans own decision. I decide to buy, enjoy and not share it. Sharing it the wrong way, I mean. What other people decide to do does not matter to me. -

People tend to completely disregard the new voices. Voices are a crapload of work. And take a crapload of time. Time BIS deserves money for if you want the goods. -

I agree. With any Blufor tank other than the Abrams. -

So will you comment on the Challenger situation, or rather, the Abrams situation we've been stuck in since Operation Flashpoint? :p -

Elric de Melnibone replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
If the Abrams (Thank you Simon) is the reason for a bloody DIFFERENT and FRESH tank not being included, I'm going to have seizure. Bloody hell, we've been stuck with the Abrams on Blufor since OFP, I want a change. And yes, I want a change, no, I would not like a change, I want a change. Seriously. Please, BIS, just give the community something to work with besides the Abrams if the Challenger doesn't fit in your DLC campaign. Something mission makers can use without having to add tons of addons to the mission. -

Elric de Melnibone replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yes, yes. A working and official Challenger tank would be really appreciated and very welcome. All we've seen from vanilla BIS games so far have been Abrahams and russian tanks - Nothing else. BIS games -never- had anything but the Abrahams, the M-60 and the russian tanks. To finally receive an official variation of that, may it be the Challenger or the Leopard would really spice things up. I'm sick of the Abrahams. And on the pricing: Now if it were only the campaign and the new skins/units/weapons, the 9€ would be a tad too much if there wasn't even a British tank included. The new voices though make up for that, with them, the pricing is alright. Oh, and a question to BIS: Do you intend to make these new voices available for player use? -

This alone will make me buy this. Oh, and my dignity. Only downside is that there is no challenger. That's a bummer. I personally like the fact we get SUSAT sights. Because of the variety. -
[OA]A few guns need zeroing....
Elric de Melnibone replied to Toasticuss's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I simply disagree with that statement. -
Well, I'm sure you're trying to help, but I have my controls setup exactly like I want them to be setup. :) The fact that when you hold it a second too long, it actually just zooms was what made me go back to the good old 'v' setup. Both zoom-in and optics on hold Rmouse is a no-go for me - Some ironsights just obstruct your field of view way too much, especially when zoomed in. So thank you for your support, but it's perfect for me as I set it up. In addition, it suits the nostalgia I have for Flashpoint.
-
I prefer the way the original Operation Flashpoint handled the sights, you actually had to press a button to bring them up - Having hundreds of actions on just the secondary mouse button is too much in my opinion, and having zoom and scope on the same button makes it somewhat wonky is well, at least in my experience. So I just put the sights on v, like in the good old times. Totally off-topic, I know. Hah.

The M14 sight is bugged/not zeroed as well. It hits quite far away from the dot. Not above or below the dot, but beside the dot. -

Tried Demo - buggy, game worth it?
Elric de Melnibone replied to sincraft's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The demo is nothing like the actual game, patched up to the newest level. If you're unsure, get Operation Arrowhead, it's priced quite low. If you like it, get ArmA 2 as well. Or get both at the same time. But really, I knew how bloody bugged ArmA 2 was at the release, but I still bought it because I knew BI was going to fix it - As they always have. I trust this company, and if you want to experience something new, nothing like Bad Company or Call of Duty, but more realistic, yes, at times more frustrating, but also so much more rewarding - Get this game. All of it. I can really, really just suggest buying this game if you want more indepth gameplay than any other shooter on the market has to offer. I've been playing these series since the original Operation Flashpoint, and I've also played and enjoyed Battlefield and Call of Duty since the beginning, and I enjoyed them all - But Operation Flashpoint/ArmA is just the most unique and special game out of them all, and I spent more hours playing it than I spent hours on Call of Duty and Battlefield altogether. Cheers, Elric -
Well so much for realistic equipment anyway...
Elric de Melnibone replied to Hovis's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm really, really bloody glad that I finally get to see something else than M16/M4 rifles on Blufor troops. Thank you, Bohemia. And I don't mind if it's not 'realistic'. All these rifles exist, so it's perfectly fine to use them in a videogame. Especially in an alternate reality. -
ARMA 2: 1.07 Patch Released!!!
Elric de Melnibone replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yeah... good patch. Really noticed the improved performance. Still doesn't run perfect, and big towns still bring my computer down, but for how 'dated' my computer is, it runs pretty decent now. Much better than the last patch, performance wise.- 360 replies

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Elric de Melnibone replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Thank you both for your replies - I really appreciate it. I have decided to upgrade to the q9550, as it seems to be the best solution and upgrade, considering that I don't want to do the full ugrade to the new Intel series. I'll have to skip the GPU upgrade though, my 9800 is still running fine and dandy, and quite honestly, I can't afford getting a new GPU -and- CPU. :) Cheers, for the help. I'll tell ye how ArmA2 performs with the q9550, if you're interested. Once I have it, that is. -

Elric de Melnibone replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Alright... so if I wanted to upgrade, would the: 775 Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83GHz (Q9550)/12MB/1333 be a good choice? I don't want to get another board, so I'm sticking to socket 775. Would that CPU be able to run ArmA 2 without issues? With a decent framerate, not the "Let's hope this mission runs over 20fps most of the time" kind of performance? I only run my games on 1280x1024, by the way. -
Wow... that's original.

Elric de Melnibone replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Alright, I'm just going to throw my specs out there, for you to tell me what I would supposed to be able to run ArmA 2 at: OS: Windows 7 64-Bit CPU: Intel Core 2Duo E6750 @2,7GHz RAM: 4GB 400Mhz DDR2 Graphics: Zotac Nvidia GeForce 9800GT Amped! Mainboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3 I'm curious about how my ArmA 2 is supposed to perform compared to how it actually performs. -
You're welcome. :)

By default, it's 2xLeft Control So double-tap that key to do it.

Where/how/when to buy ARMA2:OA?
Elric de Melnibone replied to raedor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Pre-ordered from Amazon. Hopefully the new 'island' will run alot smoother than the ArmA 2 terrain. As much as I love Chern, it's a real performance killer.
