  1. Yeah for me too the bug occours for sure more when I am flying with maxed graphics. I am guessing it is because it has to draw a much bigger area than if you were walking on the ground.
  2. I am thinking about getting Windows 7 anyways, but I don't really think it's right that I have to buy a whole new operating system just to get this game to function properly. BTW thanks for making the bug report on dev-heaven, even though it's now closed for some reason... As expected, setting the video memory to high just makes the triangles occour less frequently. One problem I just thought of is that maybe I am uninstalling my old video drivers inproperly when I install the latest ATI drivers. I use this method: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/windows-xp-radeon-display-drivers/107447-uninstalling-installing-ati-drivers-properly.html (even though it's four years old) TotalEclipse did you try this? http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1695866#post1695866
  3. Yeah I tried default and very high video memory settings. It sometimes makes it go away for a while. I think I tried it on high before, but I will test it again anyways. Really? I have a partition on my hard drive too. ARMA II is installed on the same partition that all the windows files are on. But that's an interesting connection and maybe it is part of the problem. I think maybe even a poll should be started to see if people with this problem have partitioned hard drives.
  4. Patched to 1.07 and I am still having this problem constantly since last Augest. I posted a couple of times earlier in this thread. wfGea5Bl5I0&feature=related 1SitcAf48zA&feature It happens more frequently in cities and forests but also occurs in less detailed areas. As well, my FPS will sometimes drop from around 30 to around 1-2 randomly with no visible artifacting. This to seems to also happen more often in higher detailed areas. My specs are: Win XP 32 bit ATI 4850 512MB 3GB of ram (DDR2 if it matters) Phenom X6 3.2 GHz (When I got this I thought it would make a big differnce in performance but so far I haven't noticed much with ARMA II) (Used to have a dual core) I know alot of people are having this exact problem. Has anyone found a fix for this? I have: Tried nearly everything with ATI video settings (CCC) and in game settings Tried all the ATI driver versions down to around 9.3 (properly uninstalling them with dirver cleaner each time) Updated my onboard graphics card Formatted my Computer about three times Uninstalled Arma II twice tried -Cpucount=6, Maxmem=2047, exthreads=7 No other games that have this problem I haven't really tried anything with hyperthreading in BIOS. Is it safe to disable it to see if it makes a differnce?
  5. Hard to say. I have been having artifacts since the demo, but I have heard people say that the patches started the artifacting. Even if BIS let us know they were working on a fix, I would be happy, no matter how long it took.
  6. Ok, I got it. I haven't really played around on Arma to much since I got it, but i'll let you know if it makes a differnce happens. I just found my Motherboard chip set CD. It's an "NVIDIA GeForce 6150". Something close to yours I think. I'll let you guys know what happens. And, really, I appreaciate the help! I must have spent over 12 hours looking on the fourms/google trying to solve this problem. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In my Device manager it says I have "NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management". Is this something to do with my chipset driver? It says "nForce" instead of "Gforce".

    "Buy Units" issues

I find the online warfare versions you can buy units way faster without waiting for 5 minutes.
  8. Changing Video memory didn't seem to help.
  9. I had no idea about updating motherboard drivers. How do you do it? I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00 GHz. You might not need all of that information though. Also there are Chipset drivers, but I have no idea of what type I have. Anyways, yeah! Hopefully that is my problem! :)
  10. The artifacting seems to be comming back now. I also noticed that my drive needs to be defragged again, although I had not had any crashing/restarting at all. I am probably going to wait until the next patch. It's good to know that Windows 7 fixes it. I am not going to get 7 yet though, I am going to hope for a fix (if one comes).
  11. I tried a defragger called Ultra Defrag, and although I only played for 2 hours, it seemed to make a large differnce. I only got two artifacts spasms during my two hours of playtime. One where I flew very far out of UTES, and the second as soon as I joined a server. I don't know if defragging made a differnce, but I didn't have any problems for those two hours, where beofore I got spasms every 1 - 2 minutes. Before that, I got spasms every 1 - 2 minutes.
  12. I'm pretty sure it's not over heating. There was a thread on the issue and it seemed that everyone who had the artifacts were not overheating. You could be right though that it is overheating, I just think it is something else since so many other people had it. Mine never goes past 70C, although it did get to 104C once when my sound card was blocking the fan (that's past the boiling point of water!) I used a program called Ultra Defrag and it seemed to almost fix it, since the artifacts only came up twice during two hours of gameplay, which is a huge improvement. I used to get CTD and BSOD's before, but I don't know if they're gone since I haven't played much since I used Ultra Defrag.
  13. When I got the demo, the game was artifacting like crazy (every 30 seconds). I played with the in game settings, as well as CCC (ATI 4850), and got the artifacting to stop. When I bought the game, it worked fine for about three weeks. No artifacting at all during that time. Eventually, I started to get artifacts again and eventually 2 BSOD. After seeing BSODs, I reinstalled my video driver. Now, the BSODs are gone, but I get massive artifacts about every 1 - 2 minutes, as well as frame rates of 10 - 20. For me, the game is nearly unplayable. I also not that I get a major FPS drop and pieces of shadow everywhere (seen in 1983ginger123 video) right before massive artifacting. Here are two videos that I did not make that show my problem exactly. wfGea5Bl5I0 (made by 1983ginger123) (also known as "Ginger Mcale" on these forums) 1SitcAf48zA (made by redlike) Here are my Specs. ATI radeon HD 4850 (Is at Version 9.9) XP Service pack 3 3070MB RAM AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz (If this helps) (64 bit) There is also a 75 page long thread here about video issues with ATI video cards. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73235 And another Poll thread here which is called "Artefacts and Graphic Bugs till crash Poll". http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=86688 This one is like the other thread execpt it is for Nvidea cards. Same issues though.
