  1. I'm thinking more along the lines of Gears of War, and forgive me for even mentioning Call of Duty. I have been playing the BI family of games since Op Flashpoint came out in 1999, and its always been a conventional / spec ops type open area ( countryside ) sim/war game. One thing that has been attempted to replicate is some type or experience of urban combat. To my knowledge so far, no one has been able to program AI that can navigate or use any sort of cover in urban enviornments, as well as program effective path-finding and collision dection to help the AI navigate through buildings and /or use buildings ( also sandbags etc ) as cover. I noticed that ArmA did give commanders the option to assign the AI to certain points on buildings ( like different parts of a roof or wall, or position in a building ) in order to help faciliate taking and holding buildings; but to my knowledge it is still ineffective and buggy. My question is, is that i humbly ask, does anyone know of any mod or ability for ArmA 2 to implement any sort of cover system, AI, or path finding to make urban combat a somewhat satisfying experience? Or is ArmA 2 still confined to countryside combat? I am not a programmer, and i would not know where to begin to program any sort of mod myself. Thank you for reading.

    What a tradgedy, opinions please!

thanks for the suggestions guys, guess it was sort of a lame post. mods can delete at their discretion...
  3. Dear esteemed members of the BI forums. I would love to know your opinion on my matter and i thank you for your time and assistance. I am stuck at a crossroads in my operation flashpoint/armed assault/armed assault 2 career. Well mostly ArmA and ArmA 2. I tend to devote large amounts of times to this great jewel to be bestowed to us military sim enthusiasts, but i cannot chose where to go at this point. All three games offer such a great experience of simulator action but there have been several mods that came out that absolutely did it for me in terms of enchancing a believable military sim experience. Operation Flashpoint - had Dynamic Afganhistan, EECH, Thunderbird's mods - which made the game an endless and believable military experience, but in comparison with the graphics engine in ArmA/ArmA 2, is very weak in rendering power. ArmA - CoC - my absolute favorite Mod for all three games, as it gives a higher level command feature ( up to company level i believe ) that is sorely missing from vanilia OPF, ArmA 1 -2. ECS, Mapfact's DAC and Real Time editor. All of these works so much better with the more powerful graphics engine and i've made company level missions of 300 man side battles , which adds that true leadership experience on a strategic level. ArmA 2 - Just came out and new mods are in the works im sure. I dont know wither i should move on to ArmA 2 which shows loads of potential and is downright fun in its own right over its previous games. Does anyone know if their are plans to bring over these bigger mods? I hate to sound like a girl but i just dont know what to do and what to commit too! Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
