SOLVED! XBOX 360 usb gamepad driver for Windows, installed a "Virtual Hid Device" in "Human Interface Devices", this caused direct input initialisation errors when the pad was not plugged into. Uninstalling the gamepad drivers did not seem to remove this from the device manager, I had to manually disable it, this allowed Arma to load... phew, 2 weeks after the game I can now have a go!

OK, I'll try another DVD drive 1st, then I'll clear one of my existing partitions and allow Windows 7 to take it over.

OK, checked the reg key, it points to the correct location... thanks for the info though. Silly question but is their no way I can use my game key with the steam version, I have lots of Steam games and I have no problems with them... I would like to try a version that does not rely so much on a DVDROM DRM?

Thanks Ed. Well I re-flashed my DVD drive firmware, no luck. The only thing left to try is Windows 7. I am unwilling to loose my XP just yet, so I am looking into installing a dual boot. One thing I have noticed is that the "Play" button does not become active with the CD Autorun menu, even after an install... does this indicate a securom error? Any other suggestions will be warmly welcomed in the meantime guys. :cool:

OK, updated MB Bios, drivers, downloaded the 2.6Gig demo, it does the same 8 ticks then its dead... WTF! :mad:

OK, I even went out and bought a new graphics card, which is no small purchase for me... nothing 8 ticks, then nothing, dead process in memory? Is there a more direct route to getting a game to work, rather than these forums?

Should I contact the devs in some way?

No luck, does not even get as far as to set the graphic mode. Very disappointed I was a big Flashpoint fan.

All drivers set to default, no problem with other games. These are the only files in my ArmA2 directory in MyDocuments. "ArmA2.cfg" file. language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=48387; Resolution_Bpp=32; "Ian.ArmA2Profile" file. version=1; blood=1; viewDistance=1600; terrainGrid=10; volumeCD=5; volumeFX=5; volumeSpeech=5; singleVoice=0; gamma=1; brightness=1;

Disabled it, no difference, 8 of of 10 ticks, pause, then I have to kill the arma2.exe process. Nothing on the screen, no error.:(

Sorry I should have said, I'm running XP Pro SP3.

I am getting this as well, all updates installed, DX, Drivers, patches... all firewall, anti-virus etc... disabled... 8 out of 10 tick boxes, pause then nothing. I have dual GTS SLI, I disabled one of the cards to make sure it wasn't anything... gonna give this another couple of days then the game is going back to the shop... :(
