Wow! Game ran flawlessly for me before 1.05. No it crashes every 10 minutes. WTF!? I've tried every conceivable video config...command switches on the executable...everything...but still crashes ALL THE TIME. Sometimes mid-game...sometimes while it's saving. Game is unplayable.

I am having the EXACT same problem. It's saying I have the Steam version. I don't. I have Direct2Drive. Besides, BI's site says 1.05 works on Steam version. So what gives BI? You guys F'd this one up. Running RETAIL Windows 7 Ultimate, BTW. ---------- Post added at 12:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:09 PM ---------- Wow...what an F-up on BI's part. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ARMA 2 FROM STEAM...MAKE SURE STEAM IS NOT RUNNING BEORE YOU TRY TO APPLY THE PATCH. If Steam is running the patch assumes you're running a Steam version of ArmA 2...:j: That's some pretty horrible development to overlook that. So I got the patch to recognize the installation as "DVD" and not "Steam", but it still fails....even moreso now. Maybe Direct2Drive needs a special patch? ---------- Post added at 12:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:22 PM ---------- WOW...I just attempted for the sixth time to install patch 1.05. Each time I do uninstalls of ArmA and start from scratch. This time WITHOUT Steam running...check Task manager to make sure there were no extraneous Steam files running....IT STILL SAYS "ARMA II Steam"!! WTF, BI!? ---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:51 PM ---------- It fails on all the following files, then has the nerve to say "Update completed successfully"....AHAHAHAHA....what a P.O.S.... rocks2.pbo signs2.pbo soundmissions.pbo.bi.bisign soundmissions.pbo sounds.pbo structures.pbo tracked2.pbo weapons.pbo weapons2.pbo wheeled.po wheeled2.pbo ---------- Post added at 01:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:59 PM ---------- Interesting.... I went and checked the ADDONS folder because I was going to do a manual copy of the failed pbo's...and all the failed pbos are in there!!!! Is it possible that the patcher is hosed? Game boots and functions without error. hmmmmm....

DANGER! Beware of the 1.03 Patch.

Okay...nuke-n-paving then patching worked. I guess there's more to the patch than simple file transfers. So that's working...thank god. Now we'll have to see if the AI issues and looping are resolved with this patch. S4!t....but now that Direct2Drive has refunded my money, I wonder if the game will become unplayable when it processes...hmmmm. Fingers crossed.....and I hope these in-game issues are resolved. -
DANGER! Beware of the 1.03 Patch.
ebmorgan replied to ebmorgan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm gonna nuke-n-pave my ArmA2 install then patch with 1.03 and see what happens. But that won't fix all the AI and interface misques....like dialog overlapping....another amazing FAIL. -
CTD Constantly; Should I Just Give Up?
ebmorgan replied to sitruunatee's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm with you,Bro. This is F&@KED! I have the exact same setup as you but with 4GB RAM and an AMD 64 X2 5600+ (dual-core 2.8GHz). I had no stability or performance issues UNTIL I installed the 1.03 patch. Here's my scathing rant about the ineptitude of Eastern Block development...:D http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=82802 -
What complete garbage. First the patch crashes my RAID FS. I reboot, try again and ignore all the errors for the files that DID successfully copy the first time. The patch completes successfully. Then when I start the game...CTD at the "ArmA II" splash screen. I had NO stability or performance issues with 1.02. Now it's F@&KED! I created an account here for one reason: to complain. I thought EA and Take Two were bad for putting out software before it's ready. THIS GAME TAKES THE CAKE. There are SOOOOOO many gameplay issues that this game shouldn't have even made it out of BETA. Nearly impossible to play with all the AI issues of teammates getting stuck...menus not displaying on some vehicles properly...looping explosions (those are not "secondaries" as some might think. Jeeps don't blow up 10 times every 1 minute on the dot). Here's my suggestion to everyone: get your money back. I already did. PS: I'm gonna do a complete removal and reinstall of ArmA II + 1.03. If my findings with this patch are not reproducable, I will retract my statement about patch issues. But you're out of luck about the poor development. I guess this is what we get for buying software made in a country who's #1 technological export is buffing MMORPG characters for $$$... Bohemia, call me when you figure out how to develop software.
