Initial testing done, verdict: Eargasm. Definitely staying tuned for more of this. Well done :D

BlastCore. Punishing systems since...whatever. GIMME! Pretty please? *bambi-eyes* It looks so damn good.
-
Jarhead? You da man :D Best damn news I've heard in a while. Currently in the process of setting things up so that I can test the alpha-version of your soundmod, just because it's awesome!

Initial testing was good, will test more as my day progresses and my Yankee-friends manage to drag them out of their beds for more fun&games.

Error Arma2server in Win Server 2003
Fjordmonkey replied to RogerJ's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Your commandline is wrong. It should be something like this: "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2 Free\arma2server.exe" -port=2302 -name=default -config=default\server.cfg -cfg=default\Arma2.cfg -profiles=default" -
Use the link Kju posted. Takes all of...what, 10-15 minutes to set up a simple server without any missions? I used it to create a locked server reachable only through Hamachi, and it works perfectly. The tutorial is easy to read and very straight-forward.

Hence why I only use Steam if I'm getting a digitally distributed game.

No servers allow mods?
Fjordmonkey replied to Nosedive's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Having the server block all mods (or all unsigned ones) is a good thing. It ensues a playing field where the skill of a player is a deciding factor, and not the mods said player uses. It's up to each and every server-admin to choose which, if any, mods are allowed on their server. If you can't deal with that....well. Guess you won't be playing there, then. I'll take a server that has a heavy amount of control in terms of what mods are allowed than one that you can join in with any mod you want. If you aren't paying for the server, you don't have a say in what mods are allowed or not at all. Deal with it, or rent your own. You'll quickly realize why many server-admins in many cases are reluctant to allow mods. -
Option for Plane / Helicopter steering
Fjordmonkey replied to Hekktor's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Seriously, Yammo, if you want a high-fidelity Helicopter-sim worthy of your X52/TrackIR-set, you have ONE option. One. And that isn't ARMA2. And you WILL have to deal with having to flip umpteen buttons to get off the ground. ARMA2 has, for a game that concentrates more on ground-based military warfare, and adequate flight-system. Could always be better, but it's adequate. Take the fact that ARMA2 models a horde of different weaponsystems, you see why they've had to cut a few corners in some areas in order to even get the game out the door within this century. And, as TechnoTerrorist303 said; This was never a game that promised a high-fidelity system of flight. It would be nice to have all the bells and whistles that DCS:Black Shark has, but they're not here, and this isn't DCS:BS. You'll just have to deal with it, or start modding. -
ArmA 2 tip's & trick's for heli pilots.
Fjordmonkey replied to Landstriker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Very neat trick there. Will have to try it out. Not sure how it'll go in a Hind (I'm more of a Hind type of person than the UH-1Y), but hey, only one way to find out. -
LandTex - Texture replacement for Chernarus
Fjordmonkey replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
After testing these textures, I'll just say this: This one is now on my list of "Must-Have" addons :D Damn good work! -
Thank you, B.I.S.; Sign if you agree.

LandTex - Texture replacement for Chernarus
Fjordmonkey replied to .kju's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Judging from the screenshots this'll be a damn good one :D Downloading now, and kudos to the creators :D -
This is nothing new, sadly. Saw this when I had an open server running (which I had for less than two hours). Strictly small-time stuff, but we still had muppetheads that figured that it was more fun to ruin things for others than to play fair. Result? The chance of me opening up a dedicated server to anyone except the rest of the guys in Section8 is equal to nil, or less. Unless you're sponsored by one of our members, you're not playing on the server we control. Hamachi and invitation only membership really is the way to go, it seems.

Mods on Dedicated Servers
Fjordmonkey replied to Fjordmonkey's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Thanks, Claw =) Will test this out later today when I'm done with working (or making my bosses believe that I'm working at least :P) Edit: Sadly, the test is unsuccessful. Don't get the option to purchase the additional units when in MP with the Oden-missions loaded. Might be me that's a complete newb here, though. -
Simple question: How to activate mods on a dedicated server. Backgroups: Currently running a dedicated server from the datacenter at work (being a sysadmin has it's perks), and it's functioning perfectly (mostly due to Jman's tutorial :D). Uploaded a few new missions to it which also function well, but I've been wondering how to combine mods (Operation NorthStar, for example) with the multiplayer-missions we're currently running (mostly Oden). Would this require editing the mission itself in order to incorporate the units/weapory etc from the mod? Or is it enough to add the mods to the server and start the server through using the -mod=@<modname> method?

I'm old enough to know better, but young enough to say "Eff it!" and still do it! In other words, I've survived my own (and the worlds) stupidity for 33 years so far
-
Excellent, Proton! Will test this after I'm done with my 8-hour bout in hell (aka work).

I need help with an error at each MP session
Fjordmonkey replied to Moose_Qc's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
Got it as well, but set the game to redownload this morning before heading to work. Will check if it's the same when I get home later. Edit: A reinstall did not do anything. Spoke to three other friends of mine that uses a Steam-version of the game, and they have the same issue. That being said, I haven't found that this issue has a negative impact on the game. It's still playable etc. -
TRSM Tracked Vehicles Sound mod (WSS+signed update)
Fjordmonkey replied to TangoRomeo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Definately an excellent soundpack, this. Like how the M1 now actually SOUNDS like an M1, and not some diesel-powered clunker ;) -
ARMA II Patch 1.03 & Dedicated Server Released .

Hm. Any way to get hold of the 1.03 dedicated server exe? or is it part of the patch? -
ARMA II Patch 1.03 & Dedicated Server Released .
Fjordmonkey replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Can confirm that Steam HAS deployed the 1.03 patch. Downloading as we speak. One thing I'd love to get confirmation on, though, is if the 1.03 clients can use a 1.02 server. Finished setting up a Dell Poweredge 1850 down at work specifically for ARMA2 a few days ago, so if anyone has any info, please share.
