Anything with a little A.I present. @ DNK Yes, SSD should have an impact on performance in THIS game, because for some reason this piece of software is unable to actually use your RAM for what it's supposed for, and seems to draw EVERYTHING from the hard drive. Arma 3 says : "Whoops, got to give that house some textures ... hmm now where did i put those ... ah screw it i'll just take 5 seconds to find it on the harddrive > PLOP SCREECH CRANK, there we go" . (3 second lag) Just like it was in Arma 2 . But then again, this game essentially IS arma 2 . Except with new skins for vehicles and weapons. This game is like a skin-mod for Arma 2 , really nothing more.

This gonna sound stupid, but i tried playing without speaking in microphone today .... Seems that i could play a LOT longer before performance started to drop. As soon as i start using CAPSLOCK again to speak , performance goes down the drain within 5 minutes. Could this be ?

I play BF3 @ 120 fps , lightboost enabled. (NO motion blur whatsoever, CRT quality) Then i try this game ... dear god :-(

"performance" in this sense isn't even the problem. There's something very weird going on, where the game will clog the pipes the longer you play or something. I can get in a server with 30 players, and a mission that has been going on for hours, and have 50 fps for the first 10 minutes. Then it starts to drop, and drop. Then, when i come back after a reboot, i have the 50 fps again on that same server , then, after 10 minutes it starts to drop again. Something very strange this game is doing to my computer. (SLI GTX 680's , 8 GB RAM, i7 3770k @ 4,5 ghz)

It's not the microphone unfortunately :-( WHAT on earth could this be, starts out with "good" fps, then begins to stutter ... When i'm not moving , actual FPS is the same, but it's like tiny stutters that make the game choppy as hell. Then, when i exit the game, my computer is STILL sluggish, like it's been infected with aids or something . ONLY a reboot "clears" my computer with this disease after playing arma 3 . What could this be ?!

Yes i did. This code is like cancer for your computer.

Nothing helps. I'm on 64 bit. 8 GB ram . Whenever i start a multiplayer game it's pretty smooth. 20 minutes in frames have dropped half and continue to drop slowly. Now, maybe you think "it's the server" ... No , if i REBOOT, and come back to that same server all is well again. But rebooting is the ONLY thing that helps . Shutting down the game, and re-entering gives the same crap. Only after a fresh reboot will multiplayer be smooth again (for a very limited time) I think it's best to compare this piece of crap software with a virus. It diseases your whole PC after 20 mintutes of playing, and the only way to get rid of it's remnants of diseased crap is by completely rebooting.

So, i'll be playing with kind of smooth frames, then after dying when i get back performance has halved. OR, maybe it just happens after a short period of time anyway, who knows but it SEEMS like it's happening right after dying . Now, my system is 3770 k 8 GB Ram gtx 680's (in sli) Windows 64 bit And arma is installed on an SSD . Temps are fine, plenty of memory available when playing (nor sure about graphical memory though, i have 2 GB available total) , and exiting arma and then going back does NOT resolve the issue. Only a full reboot does. Oh and sometimes the crappy performance is accompanied by failing audio as well. What can i do ?

lol "PvP" Sorry but i had to laugh a little here. Anyone who wants to play this game for the person vs person "FPS TDM style" is just a bad who can't survive in the games that are INTENDED for that purpose . (Battlefield, CoD) . I personally poured some 1200 hours into battlefield 4 spread out over 2 accounts, (4.2 k/d, no vehicle crutches and no metro, only m16yoloswag assault) and i declare anyone who wants to play THIS game with the same purpose; insane, or just very bad. It's like "i can't survive in those games, so i'm gonna be a retard in Arma instead" . Yes, i'm a little bit pissed off that there's almost no domination servers available, and if i find one it's unplayable because of the server CRAWLING under the weight of the engine. This game is SO not suited for TDM style gameplay, but SO PERFECT for doing cool missions and domination. WHY THIS WASTELAND CRAP COME ON >_<

Framerates are indeed too low . They halve going from singleplayer to multiplayer, even on an empty domi server that just started. Now 40 fps WOULD be playable, but on top of that it's also very stuttery and NOT smooth at all . Kills immersion for me, bigtime . edit* holy hell rofl i need to update my signature :D Good old times :)

Allright , the 'six updater' is now no longer working ? I have to 'update' the 'updater' or something ? I'm so f^cking sick of this mod crap . I haven't played ace for a little while (because i think it kind of sucks) , but now i had to, ran 'six updater' and nothing . Still can't join . Anyone know what's up this time ?

This has bothered the crap out of me for quite some time now. Being in a tank with a full crew is awesome, except for one thing. How on earth does the commander relay targets to the gunner ? I mean if i 'lock' a target, should the gunner not get the reticule as well ? Screaming "a little left, a little more, oh you went too far" is not really effective . Is it possible that the commander of the tank relays targets to the gunner ? Can the driver do this to ?

Weird that the commander can't just relay targets. Anyway, today i was finally with a good crew. Took out 10 hard targets and a load of infantry and stayed alive, on veteran, domination. (had to repair once though) Stayed real low, trying to only let the turret stick out .(I read a guide on tanking) No using 'turbo' while driving seems to help to (noise?) Using bearing with distance and it was ok . Altough my commenting was not all that professional like in the link above, i was more like "check out 2-2-8 , 1500" , gunner would respond "got it: bmp" and boom . Works i guess

I have said this before There are about 4 servers i play on right now. All vanilla, i don't even care for the ace mod, only installed it to get on some servers.

Sniping is noob anyways :p . Get that xm8 auto machinegun, lie down and perforate them fools by hurling 50 rounds at them . yes.

I can't join any servers. Just says 'dependable on downloadable content that has been deleted bla bla" . I'm very pissed now. Is arma 2 becoming one of those games that for every other server you need another mod ? How can i see if this ace mod is activated ?

Well this was a good post. Not because he agrees, but because i to think there are many people that don't have the time to spent as much time servicing this game as playing it . When i go play it's on a sundays. Mostly for 4 to 8 hours. Sundays is my gaming day . I just don't want to spend half that time to be installing mods, i don't actually want in the first place. I think it would be handy . A problem would be (i think) is keeping it nice and short . Just enough to get new players at least being able to play on some servers, see how good the game is, and hopefully make them interested enough to spend time installing other mods they might need. This instead of scaring them away instantly with pages upon pages of "must do's before playing" . Not a problem at all. Don't get me wrong i see where you're coming from, but you should be able to understand that not all people have the time, or want to spend their gaming time to read endless pages wiki. . I'm still running without nosplash , the splash screen really does not bother me that much . I can wait 3 seconds . But not 3 hours . I have other sh^t to do as well you know . My starting post was a frustrated one . It's funny that once you get the crap running again how easily you forget how pissed off and frustrated you were before. Maybe that's something to keep in mind for all of you that we now call 'elitists' . I mean it's always fine and dandy and super easy afterwords.

Play on =wbg= server . I've played there in the past and they've been very helpfull . Of course you have a microphone right ?

I have about 500 hours of arma 2 in . That should be enough to be able to play the game decently . You missed my point completely . My gripe is not about the game. I just get fed up by getting thrown out of every server because they have some mod running making the clouds fluffier, or the grass an inch longer. I personally don't find it fun to install 50 mods and have them conflict with eachother. I want to play the game , not micromanage it . Anyway, figured out what the problem was. Appearantly you need to make another shortcut and add some crap to the end of it to get the ace mod running .
