Hi Guys, Well it has been an experience for me. Actually very interesting. I am blessed with patience I think. Many lockups and freezes but finally found the video driver that seems to work. It is #185.85. This control panel has way to many options LOL. Combine these options with the video options in the game and you have way to many things that can go wrong. And when it does, I think you just need to pull straws. I just selected game defaults and defaults in windows #7 control panel and all is working fine. It looks like I am getting a good picture. Now if I can figure out what the hell is going on around me. I have died already 20 times. The communications I hear are overlapped and cant figure out what everyone is saying. I guess I just keep trying. I showed my wife and she just rolled her eyes. Most of time she will take fun out to the forest and shoot it. Hope all of you are doing good. Thanks for all your help Bob

Hi All! Sorry I have not been back on to check messages, but my son helped me put on windows #7. I really like the new things but #1 son says I should optimize somewhat. We had a problem even he could not solve. When we installed the new windows, apparently we installed it on another hard drive, not the one that the xp was on. So he said we now have 2 systems, and it asks me when I start which one I want to use. Not a big deal but he mentioned that it might be a good idea to use the spare drive to install games on. We tried to format my D drive but because of the old system residing on it, the new windows would not let us format. Does anyone know how i can format the drive and remove the old windows, then I can install the game. Also, what are the best things to do with this to improve the overhead, or optimize for the game? Any help would be very much appreciated. I wanted to thank you guys for mentioning that I had extra memory and this new windows can take advantage of it and improve a few things. It took forever to get it downloaded. My son put it on a DVD and everthing went well after that except the issue above. Also, I dont seem to have the control panel that comes with nvidio drivers. I found the driver but dont recognize the version is 8.15.11.8171 from the device manager. It says it is from nvidia and dated 2/26/2009. I guess I could try it. If it doesnt work, do I use a Vista windows driver or do they have the windows #7 drivers? Regards Bob

Hi Sir! Well, you are not the first one that I have talked to that has mentioned another windows. My son has a version of windows xp 64 bits. Is this what you are talking about? I am having difficulty in the game as my screen gets funny colors then the menu text cannot be read. It is like it deteriorates the longer I play. I tried setting everything to low even and still have issues. Also turned off anostropic and antialias, and that did not help either. Many are having problems with different video driver versions I have read. I am not sure what is wrong. Maybe my problem is this 19040 driver from nvidia. Thanks Bob

Great! This is good information. I found my monitor model number. It is an HF289. It is actually a 28 inch not 22. I understand the video system works harder the higher the monitor setting. So I think I should probably lower mine. I have not seen anyone running at this setting before. I will try the 1280 setting. I could not find on the google anything about native resolution. I am looking for the book now. Thank you very much Bob

Never expected such a great response. I was thinking a couple of days. I thought for sure everyone would be busy killing the bad guys! Well, OK. I will try the suggestions from everyone. Native resolution somewhat puzzles me though. My monitor book told me to run at 1900x1200. It stated this setting looks the best. This seems awful high as many posts I have read, folks are running much lower. I will try the suggestions here for the monitor anyway. I did try the game again before I read this post and had a problem. The screen went sort of white but I could see the outline of my gun sort of and other structures. Not sure what this means. One think I forgot was my video card driver version. I was running the gold one 19038 I think but I could not even load this game as I got a screen with a blue background and white letters. It went away so fast I could not read it. Tried to run again and same thing. My son said there was a newer driver called 19040, so this on at least allowed me to run the game and start basic training. Ok everyone. I cant thank you enough for you time. It is a little bit of a challenge though. My experience with weapons tells me these guys that made this game really did their homework. The game offers detail settings for anistropic and antialiasing and many others. My confusion is what do I set in the game and what do I set at the control panel level.
