    Startup Screen is underwater, now!!

NO WAY TrackIR fried your board. It does not draw enough voltage! I researched TrackIR thoroughly, ESPECIALLY the complaints forums and this was never mentioned. I think you know alot of folks here are getting/have TrackIR and are spreading FUD. The why is the question. I don't want to argue with you, or hear the details of your story. I just could not stand by and let you put doubts in potential buyers' minds about one of the few products that actually exceeds expectations from a company whose customer service sets the standard for quality.

    Directions shouted by AI

Well, in a real squad each member would be responsible for covering a sector of the 360 degree clock. Since everyone should know what sector everyone is assigned, the alert is more concerned with what is being seen instead of where at first. Sad to say, but watch Generation Kill to see this in action. The age of every man on the field having a personal radio is still pretty young. The actual words used varies.
  3. I had a hilarious script trigger malf in Gorka. I approached on foot from the north and found the weapons cache immediately, talked to the priest, and told him I was reporting the weapons. I called it in and the engineers said they were coming. All was well. So I am hanging out on the street in front of the church when a red civilian 4 door pulls up and a woman gets out and starts speaking to me like we had already met (we hadn't) and giving me intel. Anywho as she is speaking I see a deuce and a half barreling down the same road, presumably the engineers. It wasn't slowing down. So as you have probably guessed, the deuce whacked her car and smeared her into the street and killed two of my guys! As the mission fail screen approached, the last thing I heard was the engineer saying "Looks liek you got a weapons garage sale here.." or something. It was so hilarious only because I had saved before talking to the priest. The campaign as designed on paper is just AWESOME. Really fits the scope of the world that BIS developed and is very flexible. I think however that BIS is better at coding games than scripting missions. I'll bet the community could have implemented the campaign perfectly given the assets and the tools. Good content, reflective of real world ops for Recon teams. Just rushed unfortunately.

NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!

skypine27, I'll bet your issue is RAM. Try taking out 4gb and see if Arma works better.
  5. Arma2 uses all four of my cores on my q9550 overclocked to 3.4ghz, and both of my gtx 260s. I did have a dual core e8400 that just was not up to snuff even with both cores in use. I am not BIS, but it works for me.

How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??

I voted "had trouble but smooth now." Of course this game caused me to put about $250US into upgrading my rig, but it was so worth it for the best MILSIM bar none. I was in Best Buy the other day and I saw a guy about my age (40) with about 5 modern combat games in his hand and I just had to tell him that Arma 2 would do everything those games do and with more realism to boot! I will probably buy OPF2, but for the real deal, it's gotta be Arma 2. Yes the voice acting could be better, and I never heard a Marine call a buddy "mate," but the tactics, radio traffic, and the battle plan turning to crap on contact are all there. I thought that not being able to talk to the Cobras above my head was unrealistic at first, but after researching it, that is actually the case! I am VERY satisfied! Thanks BIS!

NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!

Ok guys, Here is the tale of my quest to get Arma 2 running at 40 fps solid at 1680x1050 with everything on high except post processing which is on low. I started with an e8400 dual core at 3ghz, 4 gb of 1066 RAM and 2 GTX 260's in SLI. I was getting 23 fps max. Thinking that the game is CPU limited from comments here and seeing as I have some beefy video cards I upgraded the CPU to a q9550 at 2.83 ghz. Still not good enough. Only when I bought an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler and overclocked the CPU to 3.4 ghz did I get rock solid performance. No frame rate dips, even in Chernogorsk(?). This is on an EVGA 750i FTW with the RAM clock unlinked and the voltages left at stock, BUT set manually. Leaving voltages on auto when overclocking can do weird things. The FSB is set to 1600 and my RAM timings are 5-5-5-15 at 2.1 volts. I am running the 186.18 drivers with the EVGA SLI fix. My video cards are EVGA GTX 260s, one is a 216 shader model and the other is a 192 (bastards could not release the 216 two weeks earlier...). My temps hover between 65 and 70 after about 30 minutes of gameplay, and I have a CoolerMaster HAF 922 case that I have added two extra fans to the four that came with the case. I'd like to slap the engineer that thought that the fan placement on the 200 series was a good idea for those using the card in SLI. The top fan intake is always obscured unless you rig up a duct, which is what I did. Those drivers are win for me. Crysis reports 24 fps in fraps and EVGA precision but plays like I am getting double that. Seriously weird. No framerate dips and smooth as butter at 1680x1050 with everything on high. When it plays well, Crysis is amazing. I am a total cloak whore, crawling into bases without firing a shot, planting my charges and exfiltrating and watching it blow from a mountian overlooking the base. To get even further off topic, The only thing I hate about Crysis is that the game goes to great lengths to make you the star. There is no way one guy would be assaulting some of those targets even with the nanosuit. GREAT stuff though, but the AI does not hold a candle to Arma2. Hope this helps someone.
