    AI Heli Pilots VERY POOR

Same thing happened to me last night as well.. what i ended up doing was ignoring the chopper and letting one of my guys grab a hummer, then open up the map and direct them to where you want to go... once on the road, press the + key a few times to speed up time.. walk away and have a piss untill you reach your destination.. :)

    Lame/Funny bug

This happened to me about 2 minutes ago, had to post. Was re-arming at FOB manhattan, when all of a sudden the tent over my head collapsed, killing captain shaftoe, somehow this is my fault and apparently I'm being hauled off to jail... I guess it's better than last time when the plane we were in got shot down by AA fire while mid cutscene..
  5. Just wanted to post back, since I was quite upset in this post. Last night I unwrapped my siny new processor (gift from my wife for my bday) and stuck it in my new mobo.. so im going from an athlon x2 64 4800+ to an intel C2Q 9400 in an asus forumula maximus II mobo.. this is in combination with my "old" hardware.. 3GB OCZ ram, Sapphire 4890 well, the complete difference in this game is huge. Places that were previously unplayable were very very playable. regardless of GPU power the cpu was *definitely* a bottleneck. I have yet to FRAPS or anything for numbers, but previously the game was not playable in certain areas, even on the lowest resolution and lowest settings were a slideshow in the cities. I'm still pissed that the recommended specs are way off, and it's cost me over $500 in upgrades just to play this game.. but im glad i can finally play..
  6. I work for a very large company as the senior technical advisor, Ive built 4 OS's on newly formatted hard drives, used 3 different OS's with all the latest drivers etc, nothing strupid running in the background etc etc.. not trying to sound like a d!ck, just that i know what im doing and it's not "user error" This game, out of the box runs like crap for me, I have tried to OC, but it made no difference. As for CPU, I have a new MOBO on my desk, and the quad core 9400 arrives sometime this week.
  7. Let me start off by saying that I'm *really* not trying to start any beef with you, but I gotta tell you: your post comes off as being *really* arrogant. So next time I buy a game, I should ignore the recommended specs on the box and check the support forum? Or will the box now read: recommended requirements: monster cpu minimum requirements: see unofficial postings @ http://forums.bistudios.com Every single review and benchmark ive read about this game complains about it's shite performance, especially when compared to the "recommended" specs. Too everyone defending the game, you've seen the minimum specs. You're telling me that if I brought some news cameras and a pre-built machine with those specs to BIS they would install the game and get it to run at even a fraction of playability? Yes they're working on a patch Yes we hope it fixes things Yes we can only be patient during the development of this patch Yes we know that some people are able to run it better than others I personally, and I'd assume others feel this way, am pissed because the minimum and recommended specs are way off, based on the product we have in our hands. The posted recommended and minimum specs on a game is a very large determining factor when purchasing a piece of software, if this information is incorrect and the product is not someting that can be returned for a refund then people will be pissed. The company not acknowledging this is very irresponsible. Just because your game experience has been fine, because you have a "monster cpu" don't let that stop you from empathizing with the issue. If you bought an aftermarket part for your car, and the guy at the shop swore to you it would fit your 04 infinity and you brought it home and it didn't fit you would be pissed. If you went back to the store and heard "no refunds". Then you went to the message board: "You cant install the part unless you have the full body kit upgrade, will cost you $500+, no official manufacturer support for this, manufacturer doesn't acknowledge problem, but 'something is in the works'" Can you not for a minute put yourselves in someone elses shoes and admit that this is just flat out wrong? Out of respect for their customer they should acknowledge the problems that have been brought up here and in all the industry reviews of their product. Obviously no one in their right mind woudl expect a press release saying "hey, you know that arma2 game? Yeah sorry, it's broken". No. What I would appreciate is a release on this site, even a sticky on their forums: "BIS would like to appologize to any users who are experiencing performance issues on hardware that meets or exceeds our minimum requirements. BIS is committed to providing the best products in the world and arma2 is no exception. We are working dilligently to address these issues, we appreciate your patience and value your business." It's not too much to ask.

    Any news from b.i.???

Instead they released the game prematurely and now we get 18,000 "where's patch 1.3!?!?!" threads ;)
  9. Every message board is filled with elitist post count crap, maybe your opinion counts for more when it comes to forum/game related content stuff, but since i have like what, 8 posts my concerns are no longer valid.. what is this? sherdog.net? As far as realistic views of HW, MY CPU is my bottleneck, fine i understand that, but i have played this game on 800x600 with everything turned off and i still see the same horribly crap framerate. It's not chipset/video drivers, or windows updates, or my os, or a fragmented HD.. I have install this on 4 fresh os installs on various newly full formatted drives, with all SP's and drivers up to date and i still see the same problems. My birthday is coming up and my wife has been kind enough to spring for a Q9400 - so that should inprove my performance by about what, 2% over my current athlon X2 64 4800+?
  10. Well said, totally agreed. Patience is something a customer should reserve for improvements, or additions to a game, paid or free. Fixing something that is broken is not something I should "go outside and get some excersize" for. While the game might run fine on your system, or his system, doesn't matter. You can debate all day whether the game is broken or not if you'd like, but the answer is clear: This game is broken. Like the previous poster said, it's not about the bugs, it's about the fact that the game does not perform on the minimum and recommended specs posted on the manufacturers website, and on the game box. Adding to this: the demo that ran *great* on minimum/recommended specs, but did not represent the actual game itself. I'm not making any accusations, but if my company had a deadline, and our unreleased game was performing horribly, and we needed the initial sales real bad, and I was underhanded, I'd release a demo that ran great on real low specs to boost sales too. Then the next thing I would do is not acknowledge the problem. The game has been out for what, almost 2 months in germany, there must have been these issues overthere as well, have they seen a patch? I'll wait untill mid-august, if nothign has happened by then (acknowledgement or patch from BIS) I'm writing to steam today to demand a refund, if they don't give me my money back I will start a petition and if that doesn't work i'm reporting fraud to my credit card company.
  11. Just to add: I have done plenty of troubleshooting: I've done 4 complete OS re-installs on 2 different hard drives to see if I it made any difference.. Windows 7, Vista 32 and XP SP3 - my performance is always the same.. I think the is a technical issue with CPU usage and this game.. whether I have the settings on the lowest or highest, I see no difference in FPS. That doesnt make sense.. scaling down the graphics shoudl increase FPS, even if only slightly.. that doesnt happen.. bleh.. so annoyed.. ---------- Post added at 02:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:55 PM ---------- Maybe the MP was because I didn't touch that part of it, but the game itself ran on the minimum specs and the single player was playable from start to finish. I'm pretty sure i played through the entire game before the first patch was released and never encountered a single bug or perforamce issue.
  12. Because I paid $50 for this game. I could also go for a surf, or drink a beer, or play my PS3, or do about a million other things more enjoyable than plunk at my machine hoping to find some mysterious setting that all of a sudden makes it playable.. the fact is.. i paid $50 for the game, if it wasn't ready for playing because it needed to be patched, or if we're waiting for some godlike war between this an OFP2 in october well then maybe they should have not released untill october. If I bought a car that was supposed to produce 38mpg and i took it home and got 12mpg instead, and the manufacturer didnt acknowledge a problem, id be pissed. then id go to the car forum and you'd suggest i ride the bus untill the mechanic shows up to fix my car.. compare this scenario to any other industry aside from gaming and it becomes a laugh.. even console gaming has higher standards than this....
  13. I didn't buy the game because i wanted to mess around with a map editor, my time is spare enough as it is.. I want to play the game, and c'mon, my machine is not *that* old. That is aside from the point, according to the minimum requirements, my machine should be fine; this is one of two things: 1. a lie 2. a problem If it's a lie, i'm gone, so is my money on future titles If it's a problem, i'd expect someone to take ownership and acknowledge it and let me know somethings being done. It's not too much to ask for $50
  14. Good post. I've been a lurker up to this point, actually just register for the sole purpose of responding to this post. To get to the point; I feel tricked. I had a athlon X2 64 3800+ and a 8800GT OC2, 3gb of ram.. decent machine, few years old. I can run Crysis decently well on that rig, I figured if it plays crysis it will play anything. Before I bought the game, I checked out the required specs.. "hmm.. im better than minimum, and floating right around the recommended specs. nice!". I downloaded the demo, installed it and "Hey! it runs great". So I jump onto Steam, drop the $50 and buy the game. The first few levels were somewhat playable and then as I got closer to town, it took a turn for the worse. If a game manufacturer tells me that I'm meeting the recommended specs, I would assume that this meant that the game will be playable to at least some capacity. I would assume that the specs are for the entire game, not just the demo. That hasn't been the case, at all, even on the lowest settings the game is not playable. I'm talking 4-6 fps. What does "recommended requirements" mean? That I can navigate the menus? What would it do on their minimum requirements? Install an icon on my desktop but not open? I feel utterly deceived. A game demo, especially one with a benchmark should at least be of some relevance to the final product. I feel like the demo duped me into buying the game because it gave me the impression that my current hardware could play the game. Not cool. I really really want to love this game, I love slow paced military sims with one-shot kills and stalking gameplay but the performance issues have just sucked the life out of me. Like others I will give up for now and check back weekly for patches, hoping they haven't taken my money and ran. Oh, and another thing, I actually (as I did with Crysis) went out and bought a new video card *just to play this game* yet even with the new card (sapphire 4890 1gb) it is barely playable with medium settings. As is, this product is broken. At the very minimum, as paying customers who deserve their money back, BIS should plead with it's customer base *not* to call their credit card companies to initiate a refund/fraud investigation. They can do this by simply acknowledging the problems: "Yes, we are aware that there are performance issues that are stopping users from enjoying the game to it's full potential, we assure you, our loyal customers that the minimum specs posted on our website are based on real tests and we are currently working on providing this level of performance through an upcoming patch. we appreciate your patience and we ask that you trust us when we we say: 'we will make this right'." That's all I'd need to hear to not feel ripped off. Please, we are your initial buyers, the initial cash flow, throw us a frigging bone.
