  1. Thank you Max Hansen! It had never occurred to me before to delete the ArmA2.cfg file from MyDocuments/Arma2 I used to have constant CTD but now I'm finally able to get my game running for more than a few minutes at a time. ---------- Post added at 05:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 PM ---------- Damn just got BSOD

    ArmA2 crash to desktop

I had the exact same experience as Jasantana. I have a 9800GT and everything is updated. I was able to play fine the first day for hours on end. The next day my problems started and I haven't been able to play more than a few moments before a crash to desktop.
  3. What I can't figure out, though, is why the game worked fine for hours on end, but then the next day started crashing all over on me.
  4. I downloaded the demo a few days ago. On the first day after I downloaded it, I was able to play it just fine for several hours using the mission editor only. The next day, when I tried to play it I had a crash where I was able to see all of the player model textures on my screen. Then it went black. I had not adjusted any of my system settings or installed/uninstalled any programs. I rebooted my system and within a minute or so of starting a game it would crash without fail. I checked online and found that other players with Nvidea 8800s wee having problems. I have a 9800 GT but they're similar. I tried updating my drivers to 186.18 and it continued to crash at a ferocious pace as soon as I would begin actual gameplay. I changed startup parameters by adding -maxmem=1000 and it continued to crash. I reduced my view distance significantly and it continued to crash. I then updated my driver to 190.38 beta and tried it a few minutes ago and it let me play for several seconds and then crashed as soon as I tried to change from 1st to 3rd person view as an infantryman. I could still hear the game for a few moments but I lost my visuals. It then crashed to a driverless display (similar to safe mode) and I received a window that said "Windows-Display Driver Stopped Responding". It added that "the nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display." I was really looking forward to this game, but after the demo I don't know if I want to risk paying $60 for a game that I can't play and that is going to shut down my display drivers. Is there a solution to my demo crashing so I can have a stable playing experience? If not, are the patches for the full retail version resolving crash issues? I have: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10 Ghz 3GB ram Windows XP Service Pack 2 Nvidea 9800 GT I'm not a computer expert but I do my best. If you need more information let me know.
