My brother had severe CTD on his Win 7 system and it was caused by his Logitech USB headset, took it out and hasn't crashed once since. BIS said they fixed it in the Beta patch but it wasn't.

Anybody else find the M6 Linebacker useless?
Decerto replied to gossamersolid's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Are things like the RWR flashing for IR missiles subject to the skill level? I don't fly much in this game so I don't know if having the game on the easy levels would warn you of any AA threat against you. -
Sorry I didn't word it right. When I said versions I meant between weapons ie Russian AK Vs Czech AK. I'm all for improving the game but whose voice do we listen to in order to make the change?

Guiding missle question
Decerto replied to icfhoop's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
@ Kylania: Sometime during your example mission when I call in the missile it comes up with an error saying "cannot open object ca\air3\su34\ch29fly.p3d I'm guessing it's because I just have OA and not Arma 2 and I'm missing some object from Arma 2. I click ok and the missile hits fine. -
This is one topic that will go on for ever as everyone will have a different opinion. Even if somehow there is a consensus about one gun having more recoil, somone else will come in nit pick and say that they are talking about this version (say Russian) and some other version (say Czech) isn't like that and it will start all over again.

Sounds like what you can do in the Steel Beasts Pro editor. Some maps have multiple season settings like Autumn (Fall for the yanks) will give the trees orange and red foliage and winter of course adds snow over everything, while spring and summer are all green and sunny.

AI departing from their waypoints

I found this post while researching the "guard" waypoint and may be what you need: http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1639790&postcount=9 -

I stumbled across this while searching for something else lol: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=102815&highlight=guard -
I curse at the AI all the time. Once you understand their limitations you can begin to use them to help you. It isn't trolling to point out the horrid AI pathing, it's just that most of us have been so used to it we expect it and aren't bothered by it anymore. If I was playing an BIS game for the frist time I would sound the same as TC :)

There is a random patrol group in this mission. The first time I played it they arrived in a jeep in the distance, no problems taking them out. I played it again and had a patrol attack me from behind seemingly out of nowhere. All I heard was "man, 6 o'clock" then BLAM!.

Crimson Lance Mission 3 Heat - Problem
Decerto replied to tintifaxl's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I had trouble finding the second mortar team too, it was my last objective. I rolled the Jackal down a hill and crawled out injured to find the team right in front of me lol. -
A2 - OA BAF Campaign Impressions
Decerto replied to nedley's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Just finished last night. The FOB defence mission had me cursing at my AI a lot but was good fun. I like mission before that one the best. It was so varied with a lot of optional secondaries and had an atmoshpere of really helping out the villagers and making your presence in the valley known. I rate it way better than the OA campaign, despite it's length and count it as very good value for the price. Oh, and the phrase 'wank chariot' is now forever burned into my brain thanks to this game. -
How to work along side friend AI?
Decerto replied to meade95's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
No worries, I'm still learning the ropes of the editor myself. -
The only things they make these days are trackballs like this mouse: http://www.logitech.com/en-au/mice-pointers/trackballs/devices/4787

Mission makers, what do you miss in the BI maps?
Decerto replied to digitalcenturion's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
add my support to caves, although I don't know if the engine can make them. Maybe join a bunch of empty shipping containers together and force them into a hillside? Caves just reminded me of the first map from the original Ghost Recon where you have to go into caves and take out the guy, that was sweeeeeeet. -
How to work along side friend AI?
Decerto replied to meade95's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Yeah it is a pretty simple process, for example: -Put in whoever you want to play as on the map. -Put module "High Command Commander" on the map. -Put Module "High Command Subordinate" on the map *One for each group you want to command* -Put your groups on the map. -Synchronise the group by drawing the line from the group leader to the "High Command Subordinate" module. -Synch that module to the "High Command Commander" module. -Synch that to yourself. When in game press Shift-Spacebar to bring up the High Command units and then press F1 etc to chose the group and then tell them what to do and where to go. -
I just watched the map as they moved after I told them where to go lol.

Sounds like the High Command Module is what you're looking for: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/High_Command It works like it says for single player missions but people have had some problems when using it to create multi-player missions. -
2 questions: attack orders, UAV control
Decerto replied to Count Sessine's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
There is an item called "US_UAV_Pack_EP1" you can add it to your soldier by typing: this addBackpack "US_UAV_Pack_EP1"; in the init line. The bad news is that I can't get it to work properly while wearing the backpack. Someone else may know how to do it. What I ended up doing was putting the backpack on the ground in the editor (EMPTY>BACKPACKS>UAV Terminal) and syncing it to the UAV module and just used it on the ground. Basically any empty item can be used as a UAV terminal so you might like to use the computer table or something else. Sorry I can't be of more help. -
I have same problem, it's not game breaking but it's weird.

Remove restriction of Pilot from aircrafts.
Decerto replied to Kevin5's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
You could try replacing the aircrafts in the mission with empty versions of the same craft. -
All this talk about keyboard commands makes me want to fire up Black-Shark lol I need a better stick though :(

Make AH-64D glass impervious to 5.56mm rounds
Decerto replied to cmorris975's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I don't know what to believe about it anymore. I've read three different accounts now, and they are all inconsistent about exactly what weapons were used. I saw a documentary re-enactment of it on the History channel a while ago and I think it would make an amazing film. I still marvel at the simplicity and audacity of the ambush. -

Using BAF IED's via scripting.
Decerto replied to kylania's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I'm assuming I could make a trigger so that if the AI that set it spots an Allied unit near the bomb they will trigger it? I'm thinking along the lines of the BAF campaign mission with the spotter in the house that you have to take out without him seeing you.
