ANNOUNCE: PVP script pack released
deadsmell replied to sbsmac's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : Community Made Utilities
Hey sbs mac, i haven't been around in a long time, but today i checked in to see whats new with the arma 2 community. Anyway, Long story short, I just wanted to say that I really hope you win the community award. Unfortunately I missed the voting window, but I sincerely hope you get the award, nobody deserves it more than you in my opinion. Im going to reinstall Arma 2 on my pc and start making maps again using your fantastic tools. Of course now that your on version three, im sure there are a ton of new features to explore, as I get reacquainted. :) I can honestly say that using your tools, I got more enjoyment out of the game than ever would have been possible without them. Its just too bad when it came to actually getting people to play with me..........well thats another story.............. Still though, You have my gratitude, and the entire community is very lucky to have you. Even if when it comes down to actually playing they dont know sh*t from shinola. LOL. Keep up the great work! Thank You. -
wow really? LockOn is an entirely different game?! Your kidding! I just saw your post stating how much you like to fly and made a sensible suggestion. Not sure why you would assume that I dont or havent played the game that I suggested to you, or why you would feel the need to try and explain to me what the game is?????? Im the one that suggested it to you genius, I know what it is. I Hope your thought process works better on the battlefield than the forums. lol
-
well if flying is what you really want to do, and what you really enjoy, I suggest you buy LockOn and the LockOn Flaming Cliffs Add on. You already have the stick and the trackir, all you need is the right games. Arma 2 is not what you want for flying.

@ {USI}Zombie, and RoME, cool, this should be fun. Just a quick insight into what im thinking will work best. We take the island of Utes, divide it into sections, each section with its own "theme". We cover the entire island of utes with objects. I mean really flesh it out with detail and objects/cover until the entire island is detailed, and fleshed out. Once we have it where we want it. It should be a pretty amazing environment with endless possibilities for various gametypes. So what im saying is, as long as all the object detail is laid out appropriately, we can make whatever gametypes we like using the template. Whether it be domination, C&H, CTF or whatever, we would even be able at that point to make smaller missions within the map, that say take place in only one of the "themed" areas as opposed to the entire island. So once were at that point, we can then begin to collaborate on how to set up the different gametypes within the map. So there will be several stages to this project. I would think if we did this right, we could create many variations of games using the same template. Not to mention this would be one bad mother of a map in general. :) I think it would be cool if as you travel the map, you travel through the different "themed" areas. Anyway thats what I was thinking. Does that still sound cool? :) I dont want to get this thread too far off topic (sorry mac), so perhaps we could use Xfire and get together and chat to share ideas as we work through the creative process. if you guys can PM me your Xfire id's ill add you, and we can get started. Warning: Im a nice guy, but im also a perfectionist. LOL. After my previous endeavors, If we do this I want to make sure it really sets a new standard for pvp map making. So this process may be painstaking at times. But im sure that if we work together constructively and honestly we can really make something special. Still interested? ;) If we can pull this off right, we just might be heroes -

FYI you guys, I am still open to do some collaboration if anyone is interested. I have one last final grand idea, that i feel could raise the bar immensely for pvp. However due to the amount of work i have put into previous maps, and the lack of interest i was able to generate, I dont want to do it on my own. That being said, my previous works were all during the "learning" phase of using the editor, so I am faster now, but it still is alot of work with all the testing, play testing, and just everything. if I go ahead with this, I want it to be epic and perfect. If anyone is interested hit me up. -

The players are sheep already, i dont want them to be sheep, i want them to open their eyes. I personally feel that there is a huge void between the community here on the forums, and the actual players and server admins. The thoughts and ideas shared here, are not reflected in the actual player/server base. If the majority of the worlds population woke up tomorrow and decided to start eating shit sandwiches, would that mean that shit tastes good? Using walkers scientific logic, that must be true. right? Walker I want you to know that I understand how you feel when you see posts that you dont agree with, or that bother you for whatever reason. We all care about the game, and gaming in general. We dont all agree on everything, or possibly anything, lol, but I dont think its fair to say were all trolls or whatever. I think there are those of us that are unsatisfied with the current state of MP, and we are simply trying to draw attention to it, find other like minded folks, and hopefully make an impact on the community for the better That being said, im sure there are trolls as well though. :) Walker I do agree that the players are very spread out in what they want to play, that has been a legacy of this series since flashpoint. I dont have a problem with co-op, or any of that. People can absolutely play what they want. They can eat what they want too. But just because they eat/play it, doesnt mean im going to. Frankly I think all the "popular" servers are doing a great disservice to the community by running the garbage that they are. In reality I think the best thing that could happen is if those players get bored and just leave the game for good. Then maybe well be left some open minded folks that are willing to try something new, and then well actually get some good games in. As long as these slackjaws keep on being mr. popular, they are just going to keep running the same dull, chaotic, uninspired, moron missions. Id rather play quality with 10 players, than splash around in the sewage with a 100. Unfortuantely that sentiment is not shared by the rest of the players, as they will play whatever everyone else is playing, and wont think twice about it. -

Actually I think You may be missing the point. Most of us dont Regard "berzerk" or the other "aas" missions that are being played, and are popular, as being any good, or worth playing at all. The real tragedy is that the players dont seem to mind or recognize that the missions they are playing took two seconds to make and zero thought. As long as everyone else is playing it, i guess it must be good though huh. Sure there are people playing PVP, but what they are all flocking to day after day is total crap. Thats the most frustrating thing about it. The players are retards. I dont feel bad about saying it at all, so dont bother trying to get all righteous about it. And the servers just keep running it cuz they dont know any better either. -
Why are there literally 0 PVP servers?
deadsmell replied to koroush47's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
ok guys, the Team Toast Server is no more. After much effort trying to get the server populated, and after discussing the situation, the team has decided to use the server for other games. We all felt we gave it our best shot, and its just not worth the effort anymore. Good Luck with whatever it is you guys are doing. Based on the community preference of games, we assume Arma 3 will be a cross between Farm Wars, Chernarus Life, and perhaps a game mode where players just drive tanks around by themselves aimlessly. :) (not that any of that is the games fault, im looking at you players) :681: @Randir14, I apologize, I just saw your post, Thank you very much for the kind words, and for taking the time to check out our server. Unfortunately the decision has already been made to shut it down. I have sent BMF the map files for guts and glory, but i dont know if theyll play it because its currently set up for 32 players. Bigger isnt always better and I just wanted to make sure it ran ok, and that the map would accommodate a larger number of players before making it a full 50 player match. Additionally all the maps i created are posted on armaholic (search deadsmell) and over on the user missions section of the bohemia forums (where it has over 1020 views and 14 comments 10 of which are from me.) I may still try and host some maps off of my own rig, but to be honest im not sure if I want to spend one more second in an empty server by myself waiting for hours on end, and the thought of jumping into one of the popular servers where the gameplay is just......well.........if youve played in them you know. sorry im just a bit frustrated. Anyway Thank You Randir14. If you see "deadsmells place" server feel free to join, it may not be a big huge dedicated with 100mbps, just a guy trying to have fun with like minded people. -

Ive been bustin ass creating maps and trying to get players on our server. Search for the Team Toast Server. Its All high quality PVP only. I dont know what else I can do to try and populate the server. We got great maps running, yet the server is empty day after day. At this point I am beyond frustrated with this. -

September 1st 2009: New Map Release: I have a new map for the community. This is my first Capture and Hold map. It is 5-6 Times bigger than any of my previous maps. There are no borders. I have paid extra close attention to object placement. There shouldnt be any out of place objects, however it is a big area with alot of objects, so if you see something i missed, let me know. Its really a great scenario for large scale TVT PVP infantry. I hope you all enjoy it, and give some feedback. This map should be loads of fun. Its currently set up for 32 players, but if i get feedback indicating players/server admins want the player count raised, I can add more. I wanted to release it as a 32 player map first though. This map should have an extremely high fun factor, and high replay value for those that enjoy action and teamwork. Both day and night versions available now. deadsmell presents......... @Eagleone: Your welcome, and Thank You. I will have a new map being released either tonight or tomorrow. This new map is huge. It's 5-6 times larger than all the others. I will also be releasing my first AAS mode map using this new battlefield. I will be testing tonight, and if anyone is interested in helping with testing, I would very much appreciate it. I will probably start testing in a couple hours, so please let me know if you are interested. -
