How to change viewdistance on a player-hosted server?
Soliex posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Is there a way to change the view distance on a player hosted server? I cannot seem to find the answer and its stuck at such a low visibility its like flying in a snow globe. -
I didnt know you could still lock onto targets when it was just a regular bomb. Although, I dont ever remember trying. Thanks for the replies.

Hey Guys, I've been having a blast playing Arma 2 online in co-op mode. So much so I went out and bought a joystick and TrackIR5. Even though the game runs so poorly on my QX9750, GTX295 and 8GB of OCZ Ram. With that being said, Im looking for some advice from some of you expert pilots out there. I guess I'll list my questions/concerns in number format. 1. When is the right time to drop GBU's on a target that has been designated with the laser? I have always assumed it was when the box around the circle begins to fade, yet I miss about 50% of the time. 2. When is the right time to drop unguided bombs on targets? I have tried setting a personal waypoint where I want the bomb dropped. Fly in at about 500 altitude and going around 250, and drop the bomb around 1000 out, no success. 3. Whats the best way to avoid Anti-Aircraft defenses. (Mobile, Static, Infantry) 4. Whats the best way to engage Anti-Aircraft without anyone on the ground desinating targets? Thanks Much! -Soliex

Im happy to see someone from NaturalPoint actually checks these fourms, I wonder if they have seen a huge spike in sales since the release of Arma 2. I know I ordered one on Tuesday specifically for Arma 2, should be here on monday and I hope it runs flawlessly.

I have a question thats related to using the laser designator. I play alot of multiplayer on a coop server. I have been having issues with knowing exactly when and how high to drop the GBU while being locked onto a target. I usually drop the bomb when the circle encloses the square on the HUD, however more times than not the bomb misses.. The laser designator is still being locked onto the target. When exactly is it that I want to release the bomb to have it hit the target? Thanks.

Brand new NVIDIA Bios editor for advanced tweaking - here.
Soliex replied to wazandy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I dont like to go into the bios and mess around with stuff. The bios is really where you can damage hardware. If you need to go into the BIOS and reconfigure stuff to get arma 2 playable then maybe you should really just wait. -

Some genuine patch 1.03 information
Soliex replied to {SAS}Silentkiller's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I would imagine they wouldnt get to involved with informing us of whats going on because once its been announced that they are working on it or trying to figure it out we will have something to hold agianst them should they not be able to do it. I would however feel more comfortable if they did inform us that they were at least trying to fix issues people are having. I know im having issues and am working very diligently to make the game run steadily. Im actually planning to do a complete re-format of my PC this weekend in hopes of having Arma 2 run better. The things we do to get games we like to run better....:( -
Jumped on board and orderded myself a Tracker IR 5 with the clip. Now to consider buying a Joystiq.. I do fine with mouse and keyboard though.. Hrm... not sure.

For those with powerful machines still unable to play ArmA II
Soliex replied to Merefield's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I went ahead and just updated my vista to Windows 7 RC and have finally broke the 30fps wall that I've been having. Multiplayer is an entierly different game now. I still have studders and small hiccups that I need to work out. But overall its working better. It was not a fresh install, but rather an upgrade. So if my tweaking does not lead to a mesurable increase I think I will re-format and start fresh. -
The TrackerIR5 is something that really intrigues me. I would really like to purchase one because of its intuative design and judging by the video that was posted makes it look fun! However, I am worried about my current problems while playing Arma 2. I have a very decent computer that should be running this game flawlessly. However, it is anything but flawless. Its choppy at best. I think if I were to purchase a TrackerIR5 It would only increase my frustration that I currently have with Arma 2. I have not tried using a seperate operating system for Arma 2, I plan to load up windows 7 RC as soon as I get home from work. If I see good results I will more than likely purchase a TrackerIR5. For anyone whos curious, my setup is Q9550 @ stock Asus Formula Rampage EVGA GTX 295 1.79GB @ stock 4x2GB OCZ Platinum PC8500 2x Seagate 500GB (Raid0) 2x Samsung DVD Burners Corsair TX750 Vista Home Premium 64bit

You wont find me downgrading to XP for a game anytime soon. I will try windows 7 RC when I get home from work however, I have 8GB of ram and 1.79GB of ram on my video card alone. If I reverted back to XP I would be loosing so much. -
Having troubles getting past 30 fps during multiplayer sessions. Q9550/GTX295

I know its not anywhere near where it should be, because when its down in the 20's it sure does feel like it. It dips down into the teens a lot as well. It's sluggish at best.
