Hey Rekrul, W0lle might have saved some guy in Africa some serious headaches trying to open this thread using his 56K modem. You should be thankful for it! We are to blame for posting huge images with our filthy capitalist broadband connections ruining the webexperience of the African people. Shame on us average people!

Evil railroad bug and other

Why would you call yourself Hitler? Are you mentally retarded? -
Tests have proven that this game runs best under XP. Vista and Win7 perform about the same.

QuadCore VS Dual, Multiple OS's Test. Post Your Results Please
ViperNL replied to -=seany=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Wow kklownboy, that is one monsterous rig! :D To answer your questions -=seany=-, I use ATI Tray Tools v1.6.9.1386. It has an OSD function that lets you show all kinds of info on screen dusring games like temps, usage%, clocks, fans, memory used (by the game), fps, all kinds of voltages, etc.. I never play coop or ctf as I find it boring and repetitive. I prefer the Hold gametype and it runs great. I find it very puzzling why both my cpu's and gpu's arent doing much. Something is limiting them! My fps hardly ever dips too. I get very smooth gameplay, just average fps no matter what settings. Anyone a clue? Vsync is off btw, to reduce mouselag. -

I ran the mission aswell and took screenshots with various resolutions but same settings as topic starter: 1152*864: (I forgot to tick the 'include fps in screenshot' option. It was @ 43 fps.) 1680*1050: 1920*1080: And again 1920*1080, but the settings I use: everything on high except AA turned off: As you can see, my cpu's and gpu's arent doing much, and my fps only changes by less than 15% even though the resolution is more than twice as high and all settings are all maxed out except AA and viewdistance (forgot i left it at 1000m). So fps is probably limited by something else. Memory bandwidth maybe? Memory timings? Cpu <-> gpu bandwidth? We'd have to test it somehow by OCing or Downclocking. It might be interesting to find out what it is. -
Mouse Lag 2 - Return of the Mouse Lag
ViperNL replied to datter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@markushaze That's exactly what mouse smoothing is for! It improves accuracy with small movements, while still being able to turn around when you move your mouse faster. This is good if your mouse isnt very accurate or 'low res', but it makes quickly switching targets much harder because it'll 'overshoot' the target because you moved your mouse fast. This is why people complain about it being so hard to aim in this game. Why BIS thinks this has anything to do with mouseLAG is beyond me though. But ill have to try out the patch before I pass judgement on it ;) The solution for you though is to either: 1. Turn your sensitivity down (try both in windows and in game) 2. Buy a better mouse (1000dpi and up) or 3. turn mouse smoothing back on and learn to aim with it.. Each option has its obvious downside(s). -
Hello guys, I had my first 2 BSOD ever in this game but it only showed for a second or 2 before rebooting (I have it set to reboot on bsod) so I dont know the specific message/code. I do know this though: there is only 1 difference with my pre-BSOD config: I hadnt Installed Teamspeak! After installing TS, I played for a few hours before getting the BSOD. I rebooted, restarted TS and arma and I get another BSOD before im even in the menu! Rebooted again, didnt start TS and played fine for 5 hours.. (Yes, I played a whole fucking day till 3am) :D Now this may have been a coincidence of course, but it may also mean there's a conflict between the 2 programs (probably with the sounddriver, since I dont think TS uses much else). I don't know if this is true or if either program is to blame, but I suggest turning off ALL programs you're running in the background, no matter how small or stable they are. You've probably tried this already, but i thought id suggest it just in case if you havent, because there may be other programs like TS that may be causing a conflict with your hardware for whatever reason. Hope this helps! GL Officer! ;)

Found out how to turn Vsync off on ATI cards
ViperNL replied to randir14's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
InFireBaptize read his posts again carefully, you're not getting his point. He is probably right though. -
Arma2 score is pretty useless. Its just a cam speeding across the landscape. Only thing it tests is how fast your hdd is to load all the terrain and textures.
-
Yes, im sure they made the game run worse and overheat all your videocards just to taunt you all.

ATI 4890 blocky-no textures in Vista 64
ViperNL replied to pappavis's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
add -winxp to your shortcut: -rightclick on the shortcut (snelkoppeling) -add -winxp to the end of the target (doel) so it looks like "c:\arma2\arma2.exe" -winxp (or where ever you installed it) It has to do with Arma2 not detecting your 8GB properly.. It will probably be fixed next patch which is coming soon. -
You will be missed! Like a toothache!

The fact that he stopped responding says it all. I was just trying to be polite instead of yelling "buy the damn game!".

Nonsense. Just install this one from ATI: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx ASUS or any vendors drivers are always months or even years behind..
