Red Harvest too short?
emergency_pants replied to Archamedes's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I've played some of the campaign now and so far it's been average sometimes and crap at other times. On the whole, pretty poor. The voice acting is appalling. :o Operation Flashpoint and it's official addon packs had excellent campaigns. I played them over and over - they were really good! I've seen some responses to campaign complaints here saying that people who moan about the campaign are missing the point of the game. That's a shame because the campaign is a key reason for purchasing this game for me - I was expecting it to be better than OFP's campaign due to so much more development having been done since. I continue to plod through it but am beginning to give up on it in favour of user missions and scenarios. That's a shame. I think I'd have been happy to pay a little less for the product and have it marketed as a sandbox game with some ready-made scenarios, rather than include the poor campaign. campaign FAIL. -
Setting AI position in vehicle
emergency_pants replied to emergency_pants's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Thanks for the answers. :bounce3: -
Is it possible to tell an AI squad member to change positions in a vehicle? I was gunner and got out to investigate something, taking the driver (who is a sharpshooter) with me. I wanted to leave two men in the vehicle but am unable to swap the remaining men into the gunner and driver positions! How do I do that? The controls and commands in this game are infuriating at times. It's wildly unintuitive. Simple commands take too many seconds to do in a firefight.

*spoiler alert* Manhattan (side) missions
emergency_pants replied to yskonyn's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Hahaha. I had the same vague mission outcomes. You never really know whether you're completing the mission properly or not. The house explosion is scripted, as far as I can see. I never saw the bomber either and I also detected two (or three... can't quite remember) insurgents just outside the village. I took them out. I'm not sure if they were the bombers or not. All I know is that they shot at us, so they got it! I was lucky and found the girl standing outside the church. I got her to the pick up point and fended off the attack. She made away in the helicopter safely after a couple of reverts. I have found that it's better to simply attempt to fulfuill the objectives as best as possible and keep in mind that it's possible that some triggers may not happen. Some objectives might not be met, etc. For example, I found the enemy base camp and was told to hold off until re-inforcements arrived. Five seconds later I am given the all clear to attack. I scoped the base out with binoculars and found the commander. I'm given the all clear to attack. After some reverts I managed to overcome all the enemies at the camp and I later see that I was supposed to positively ID the commander before shooting him and that a further, separate objective is now not complete and possibly impossible to fulfill. Despite the fact that he was trying to blow my brains out. Is it not possible to walk up to him and ID him after I've shot him? or... maybe the commander is at a different base? Maybe that was a different person! I have yet to attack the main enemy base so I'll see. I think it's important to read all of the objectives and consider whether any of them affect each other. I'm currently loking for a smuggler. I've searched the whole of the town me ntioned in the briefing and I've driven all around the area, including the local docks and airport - no sign of this smuggler. I expect I will cross that one off and move on to another objective. Like I said - I think it's ok to use your own judgement as to whether you feel the mission is complete as I don't think the game can be trusted to do that for you. The [Ctrl]-[keypad minus] ENDMISSION command is useful for when you feel the mission is completed as far as you can achieve and you think it's ok to move on.
