No servers showing up on server browser
rebb replied to TheEnder's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Yeap. This still happens .. -
DLCs are tiny differences, and there are potentially a lot of them. I already see lots of servers with DLC content in the missions, and while it may not be that bad right now, it will pile up the more DLC is coming out. Expansions would be few and have large differences, and they offer more value in my opinion. I would pay more for a proper expansion than for a DLC that gives me "a slightly different kind of item X". It may be that an expansion would "hard fragment", but that is debatable as well. If someone enjoys playing an Arma game in the context of what Arma3 offers, but also enjoys playing a different theatre ( 80s / WW2 ), that doesn't mean he won't come back and play the base Arma3 theatre or switch between them. I'm just not a big fan of small DLC packs and jonesing for some different officially developed theatres ;)

I vote for less DLCs and more Expansions with new Settings like 80s War or WW2. More DLC just seems like a good way to "soft-fragment" the community in multiplayer and add entropy.

Will keeping the Dev Branch end up splitting the community ?
rebb replied to rebb's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Well, apparently you were right. I haven't been playing for a while, only tried again today on my DevBranch install. And the way it looks, it doesn't make any sense at all to stay on the Dev-Branch. Practically nobody is playing there, there's way fewer servers and mission variety. Opting out of it for good. -

Will keeping the Dev Branch end up splitting the community ?
rebb posted a topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Since BIS has mentioned that they plan to keep the Dev Branch after release, which makes sense of course since it makes testing of changes easier, i wondered if it might have the unwanted side-effect of essentially splitting the game's community in two. After all, Server Admins will have to commit servers to one or the other, or split them up if they have a pool of servers available. Which branch will mission designers mainly use for testing / deploying new missions ? Will playing on Dev Branch mean you have much less servers to play and and much less players to play with ? During Alpha / Beta i pretty much only stayed on the Dev Branch exclusively, also due to potentially having to redownload hundreds of MB for each branch switch. What do you think ? -
Very nice mission, the performance is quite impressive indeed, compared to a lot of other missions out there :). The only problem i seem to have with it is that quite often my game client crashes if i try to join one of the Dev Branch SaMatra Wasteland Servers, which doesn't happen with other missions. Even more strangely i was able to join and play without problems recently, but today the problem re-appeared.

ARMA 2: OA beta build 94103 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
rebb replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Note to self : Don't just apply latest patch found on the beta-patch page. I keep getting Battle-Eye kicked or stuck on the Loading-Screen with Build 94209 ( i know this isn't the right thread, but there is none for 94209 yet *cough* ) -
ARMA 2: OA beta build 93825 (1.60 MP compatible build, post 1.60 release)
rebb replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
I'm getting stuck on the "loading" Screen ( after the actual loading is done with the bar moving etc ) quite a lot with this new patch on DayZ Servers. Didn't happen with any of the earlier patches for some reason. -
I'm also seeing only maybe a third or less servers than normally today for some reason, i'm in Europe tho - what the heck ?

ArmA2 1.03 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
rebb replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm starting to feel the same kind of. But for me its mostly tied to the game-mode i play the most, because it's the most interesting for me, and it's not an official BIS one. I really want to love this game, but there's so much crashing, server-crashing, or other sorts of bugs going on on a regular basis that it becomes more annoying everytime i try to get back to it. -
So that means the "crcTI 0.7 18v18" is edited then, ok. So where do i report bugs for the 18v18 version then ? ;)
-
Well, it's kinda hard for the player to know if he is currently playing a version that is edited and not the "real thing" - especially for me as a new player. The server-browser sure doesn't help either in knowing exactly what sort of file a server is running - but i guess this is more of a problem that BIS should be working on. So this is a bug that only happens on the 18v18 Version ? Because thats pretty much the only servers i've been playing this on.

I really like this mod. But damn, there are some horrible bugs in it right now. Mostly tied to player-slots going haywire, which results in other people suddenly spending YOUR money - or you ordering units that never arrive. I've also seen people being the commander, and suddenly not getting the commander-income any more, while some other random player is getting it. Please fix this, it hurts the fun quite a bit.
