    Possible Terrorist Attack in SoCal/Arizona

    Their doctor? What?
  2. There is. And anyone who doubts the legitimacy of the moon landings at this point falls into the latter category.

On this point I agree, as long as you are referring to taking sides in a strictly militaristic sense. I have no issue with NATO officially condoning the actions of the rebels, but I don't think we should have gotten ourselves involved in any military capacity. It's not our fight, and quite frankly (at least in the U.S.), we can't afford it. Much of this thread really has been in support of Gaddafi, though, with people denying the existence of reports indicating that Gaddafi committed crimes against his people and ignoring them when they're linked.

What you don't understand is that it doesn't matter how controversial the news is. The fact is that Gaddafi's people rose against him. Their will is reason enough to judge him unfit to lead, subjective ideas of right and wrong notwithstanding.
  5. I disagree about the cover system. It allows you to get just below obstacles unlike standard crouching, and it makes it very easy and fast to pop out from the corner of a wall.
  6. To be fair, the distances in RO2 are all quite short; 150m is considered long range in this game. The lack of iron sight zoom in RO1 was unrealistic and irritating. I've been mostly enjoying the game so far, although I think that a lot of people overstate its realism. I particularly like the cover system they've created. I think it might be the only first-person cover system I've ever seen. It would be nice to see something similar in a future version of ArmA.

NATO didn't start a war in Libya. An armed rebellion took place first. Armed rebellions don't occur in countries where the populace is content with its leadership. And really, the police analogy doesn't work here. Gaddafi's own people turned against him. Whether or not he is a criminal in the eyes of some unaffiliated third party is immaterial. He was rejected by those he was meant to serve, and that alone makes his authority illegitimate. Owned.

A rebel is not the same thing as a terrorist. Look up both terms. Where does all this support for Gaddafi come from anyway? I thought it was clear enough that he was an asshole dictator? It's only natural, particularly in this worldwide climate of revolution and change, that his people rose against him. I'm glad we picked to support the winning side (although I wish we hadn't been involved militarily).
  9. Really? You're "on the fence" with the moon landing? :icon_ohmygod: Where do you conspiracy nuts get your crazy ideas, anyway?

You misunderstand completely. I am sure that you bought the disc that is now broken. My point was simply that you can't legally get the files elsewhere without buying a new copy. I am not making any comment as to whether or not you could or should acquire the files elsewhere, only that it is technically illegal unless you buy a new copy. In any case, BI is usually pretty friendly when it comes to stuff like this (I think), so you might be able to get a free replacement (digital of course) from them. Contact their support services.

Yup. It's like if you bought an apple, but then it was damaged to the point where it was not edible; you couldn't rightly demand that the store replace your apple because you messed it up, now could you? Clearly, this analogy is as flawless as the concept of intellectual property in general. ---------- Post added at 04:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:00 PM ---------- If they don't care about this, why should they care about getting the data off the internet? It is exactly the same as getting it off of a disc that you didn't buy; it is just more readily available. Technically speaking, both are equally illegal thanks to modern intellectual property law.

You realize that having a friend lend you the DVD is just as illegal as downloading it off the internet, right? Even if you've bought the game before, you can't legally install it from anywhere other than your own copy of the data. (Yes, this is ridiculous).

I understand. My instructions were meant to achieve the goal you just described.

Post Fukushima. Where Now for Nuclear Power?

You're probably right: It's all an elaborate conspiracy to cover up the fact that everyone in Japan is actually going to die of radiation exposure within the next five years. Reuters and other news sources like it are deliberately creating false reports in order to allow this to happen at the behest of apparently insane nuclear businessmen. If we don't stop nuclear power altogether, eventually we will all share the fate of Japan. Do I have it right now?

Post Fukushima. Where Now for Nuclear Power?

@PvPscene: Reuters is a well-respected international news agency that definitely qualifies as "credible." In contrast, "most recent studies" isn't a source at all.

    Exit .SQF

First off, the script isn't waiting where you have your "insert action here" comment; it's waiting at the waitUntil statement 10 lines down, so you would need to have your interrupt statement below that. Secondly, addAction works via executing a script, so you will need a new script that the action calls. That script should be very simple and look like this: cancelAction = true; ASclick = true; Now, in your original script, all you need to do is put the following line immediately below the waitUntil statement: if (cancelAction) exitWith {cancelAction = false;as0 = _man addAction [localize "STR_MENUASM","airSup\addMenu.sqf",[], 5, false, false, "", "_target == player"]}; Bear in mind that none of this will work properly in MP because of the local nature of addAction scripts.

Post Fukushima. Where Now for Nuclear Power?

    +1, very well said.
  19. How do you react to 155mm HE without hard cover? In my experience, there really isn't much of any recourse available in ArmA if the strike was accurate, but I think adding underground objects would do a lot to change that.
  20. You can also just add isServer (or !isServer) to the condition field of the trigger, which is probably the easiest and cleanest way to do it.
  21. +1. I've always thought it would be interesting to integrate artillery into MP missions, but you really can't without killing the fun because of this fact alone. Being able to take hard cover during an artillery barrage and surviving would really have an interesting effect on the players' mindset.
  22. In the pastebin version of your script, you have two underscores before "markerpos" on line 42. That's why it's showing up as "any".

    Disappearing equipment and weapons

It sounds like you're using ACE, and despite rational expectations, what you're experiencing is meant to be a feature. In order to avoid the problem, you need to manually place your gear inside the cargo section of the vehicle before getting in. Then you have to manually retrieve it after getting out. So. Immersive.
  24. "select _forEachIndex", which you have bracketed off in parenthesis, doesn't make sense by itself; you need an array to select from. Simply remove those parenthesis (you can keep the outer ones), and I think you should be good to go. Your method for dynamic marker names looks fine.
  25. You can't restrict slots before a mission starts. Can you not have an admin simply vacate slots you wish to remain open?
