ArmA II Comprehensive i7 Benchmark XP vs. Win 7
ICE-Raver replied to Scorpio9's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I did a bunch of tests on my i7 dual boot system, Vista 64/Windows 7 64 and I can tell you without a doubt.......................Windows 7 is NOT a reskinned vista. I had major performance gains on Windows 7 vs Vista with using the same settings on Arma Mark. My results are here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=55 Just an FYI, You must Force off Vsync to get accurate results. With V Sync on I cannot break past about 5400 with windows 7. With it off I get over 7000. You do the math. -
Just installed Win7, and FPS much lower than Vista :/ ??

Windows 7 cut frames by 50% and introduced microstuttering
ICE-Raver replied to OUT FOX EM's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I lucked out when I upgraded to my i7 and got vista 64. That was in July and any Vista purchased after July 1st gets a free upgrade to Windows 7. Unfortunately, MS sent me an email saying I could expect it by November 1st at the latest, so I went ahead and set up a dual boot system with Windows 7 RC. ---------- Post added at 10:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ---------- The sli patch I recommended is specifically for 190.38 drivers:http://www.evga.com/articles/00463/ In any case. I haven't had any issues with 190.38's or the sli enhancement. Like someone else said, with Arma 2 its a crapshoot. What works for one may not work for others. -
Like many others my FPS has been locked to 33 for some odd reason and I have never been able to get it past that. I partitioned my drive last night and installed windows 7 64. I did several Arma Mark tests which Windows 7 beat Vista by 64 by alot and I also found that my FPS is now unlocked when I enter MP servers. All settings Very High 1680 x 1050. No more 33!

FPS No longer locked at 33 with Windows 7
ICE-Raver replied to ICE-Raver's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Originally my system was an AMD 5600, 4 gig ram and a single GTX 280. I got single digit framerates on normal with that setup in most situations, especially Chernogorsk. It took me alot of $$$, tweaking and hairpulling to get my system to this point. Good luck man. I used to run ATI back in the day, I hope their drivers are better now than they were then. -

Hey, I just switched max pre-rendered frames to 8 like you suggested on this thread and I blew Arma Mark wide open with 7000+ scores back to back. Check it out. Page 54. My old scores with Max Pre Rendered frames 3 are on there on a previous post (same page). http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=54 -

Whats wrong with the 190.38's? Which ones do you run and where can I get them? I'm always up for some testing. -
Just broke 7000+ All settings on Normal, PP Low, AA Disabled. 1680x1050 :D All settings in Nvidia Control Panel on high quality & Application Controlled. Forced off Vsync and set Max pre rendered frames to 8. Back to back tests

Just an FYI I am running drivers 190.38. I also have both 280's overclocked running 650/1404/1163. I also installed this:http://www.evga.com/articles/00463/ Plus in your NV Control panel I changed my SLI performance mode from "Recommended" To "Force alternate Frame Rendering 2" This had a pretty big impact on my machine. Also I run HT off on the CPU Hope that helps a little. -

ICE-Raver replied to ICE-Raver's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well I don't have Manhattan available as I have not played much of the campaign at all. However I jumped into another server and did some paradrops on Electrovodsk and Chernogrosk since those 2 towns are real hard on most systems and took some screens. These are all taken at 1680x1050 with all settings maxxed out (Very High) Default view distance and no grass. Wihout a doubt my framerate is no longer locked. If you want to see some test results between Vista & windows 7, I ran several with Arma Mark and posted them here:http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=54 Page 54 I hit 6741.5 on Arma Mark with Windows 7 64 on normal settings, pp low 1680 x 1050. That was compared to 3770.45 on vista 64 with the same settings. I also did tests on Very High, click the link to see those. These results probably aren't quite the same for everyone as I saw lots of people running vista doing pretty good on Arma mark. Paradropping into Cherno Running though Chernogrosk -

This was strictly a load in and test. I haven't played anything yet. But on Vista that same screenshot would have had 33 FPS locked. -

I agree. Dual booted last night and ran Arma mark tests on both systems. Results on page 54:omg::http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=54 Edit just broke 7000+ on back to back tests. All Nvidia Control settings ON, High Quality and Application controlled. Forced off V sync and set max pre rendered frames to 8. Results on same page 54. -

problem. cant run the game on 64bit vista?
ICE-Raver replied to dudditz35's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm running a steam version on Vista 64 with no issues. My squadmate is running a D2D version on Vista 64 and he hasn't had any either. -
I bought mine from the same guy last month. I'm in the US so duties weren't a concern. However the guy sent me updates immediately after I bought it and I had the trackir on my doorstep in 3 days. He's a great seller. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat.

To turn on or turn off Hyperthreading?
ICE-Raver replied to SPECOPx's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Where can I get this Arma Mark to run? As far as 3dmark 06 goes there is little or no difference in my score with it on or off, and playing Arma 2 in game I cannot tell a difference. But then Arma locks my fps at 33 for some strange reason. -
Defrag. softw. Diskeeper 2009 Pro does the trick - removes the stuttering completely

I ran diskeeper 2009 last night and "knock on wood" I played for 3 hours with no stuttering last night. -

I've tested alot with and without and I see no difference whatsoever in my performance. -
Important: Read if you encounter stuttering after 1.03
ICE-Raver replied to a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm defragging now with diskeeper 2009. When I analyzed it said health critical..................very heavy fragmentation problems noted. Funny thing is I am on a brand new 2 week old build and I ran MS defrag after the system was running and everything installed. Anyway, hopefully this helps me. -

Stuttering like crazy on my rig now. On 1.02 it ran flawlessly. -
Should all i7 users be using all four cores?
ICE-Raver replied to wazandy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have HT turned on and every setting in the game on max and it runs absolutely flawless other than server side issues on the bigger servers. I have tested HT off and on and I noticed no performance difference whatsoever.
