  1. Sorry man, I can't get your mission to even show up. I'm curious though. Why not just use the Arma mark benchmark? I've already ran tons of vista 64 vs windows 7 tests on my system using arma mark. Results are on page 55. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610 PC specs are in my sig. I score just over 27,000 3dmark 06, and just over 26,000 on 3d mark vantage with my rig.

    Poor performance...

The stock cooler is garbage. I am very surprised he hasn't ruined his CPU already running that speed with it.

    Poor performance...

Mine is overclocked to 4.2 and it never exceeds high 50's while gaming. Thats on air only. The only time it got close to 85 was running prime.
  4. You got me pumped up, :cc:Love it!
  5. Well with Arma it seems everyone has a different story. I can only speak from my own experience and that is vista/arma ran like crap. Switching to windows 7 worked miracles for me.

    What's wrong with my setup

I had an 8800 GTS OC when Crysis came out and when I tried to crank the settings to high (very high not available on DX9) I got a slideshow. Some portions of the game were playable, but it was a big jerky mess. And the aircraft carrier level? Forget about it. It looked like a CPU test on 3D Mark.:p
  7. I'm only running dual 280's but I'll give it a go. I normally do 2500-3000 and it paints the landscape as I fly along, usually not very smooth. I'll let ya know.

How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??

I haven't had any issues with Arma 2 and steam. Sounds like Placebo to me.

    SLI Support/Xfire Support

Going SLI made a huge improvement in performance on my rig. My Arma Mark score leaped to nearly 8000 with normal settings. Without a doubt SLI does work, but it takes some tweaking to get it running proper. If he has any doubt have him go to Nvidia control panel>3D settings>Show SLI Visual Indicators. It's at the top of the control panel. This will show a meter that shows SLI usage. I also have alot of info in the Arma Mark thread page 55 if you want to compare Nvidia control panel settings or whatever: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=55

    What's wrong with my setup

That's for damn sure. That's what made me get rid of my old 8800 gts OC for my first GTX280 to begin with. BTW- I bought my second GTX 280 a couple of weeks ago and I picked it up for just a little over 200 bucks on newegg. That's a steal for a card that literally smokes the 8800's. But, the 300 series are coming soon if you want to wait and have the cash for one. ---------- Post added at 12:04 AM ---------- Previous post was Yesterday at 11:57 PM ---------- The real question is...........What is your budget? Can you build yourself or do you need a pre-built system? When I built my i7 system myself, I almost went with core 2 quad. But after I priced everything out, (cpu, ram, mobo, etc) the i7 build was only 50 bucks higher than the quad 2. $850 vs $900 (I already had the GPU)
  11. I know you just bought your PC but get rid of Vista 64 and your golden. Considering you just bought your PC you should be getting a free upgrade to Windows 7 unless that PC was built prior to july 1st. In any case. Partition your drive if you can, and get Windows 7 RC which is free atm. Update your drivers and if you are running Hyper Threading, disable it. You failed to mention your CPU. There are alot of tweaks for Windows 7 already posted in this forum so I won't relist them all, but most people have had much better luck with Windows 7 or XP for that matter over vista. There is a thread here somewhere about people having issues with the 295's but I didn't pay much attention since I'm running dual 280's which have ran great for me. You may want to search the thread though. I know I never got the game to run right on Vista. I put on Windows 7 and never looked back. Game runs great now.

Did Steam just release a hot fix for 1.03?

Thanks man, got her going. Too bad I lost most of my game night first.

Did Steam just release a hot fix for 1.03?

I had 4 hours to game tonight and I still can't get the update. Really sucks. I'm giving up and going to bed.

    No hardware / 3D Audio ?

I used my XFi with Arma 2 and had perfect 5.1 surround before I went SLI. After I went SLI I lost my PCI slot so now I'm running realtek onboard HD 5.1 and it is working flawless as well. Everything is positional. I can stand in place with people talking and spin in a circle and it hits every speaker perfectly.

Did Steam just release a hot fix for 1.03?

Still can't login because of the too busy message. Also steam keeps logging me out totally saying my ticket has expired and I must log in again? I don't know what the hell is going on here?

Did Steam just release a hot fix for 1.03?

Don't know but I just tried to start arma up and it said "the steam servers are too busy to handle your request, try again later"? Wtf is that about?

On your test 4 for me Very high AA is an option. AA High/Very High were 2 different settings. Probably SLI related. I never ran arma mark with AA set to high, only very high/normal. But yea, something is really up with Vista on this game. Some people run it great, for others (like me) it is a big turd.

    1. HT Disabled 2. No switches, I run the game as installed. 3. Vista is patched to SP 2, Windows 7 is also updated current 4. No I don't have anything logged to see utilization
  19. Are you kidding? Page 55 shows some tests i7 tests by me and another guy. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=55 In normal gameplay on mostly very high settings I can walk around with 50-100+fps in most situations with grass off. With grass on it's a little worse but not too bad. The key for me was Windows 7 over Vista. With Vista I had horrible performance. All that said however, I do think that they made a big mistake on the minimum requirements for this game.

    Holo gunsight...utter pap?

In game the eotechs suck........................which well................. sucks. Because I'd like to use the m4 with an ACOG. So as of now, I just go m/16 ACOG and avoid the Eotechs like the plague. I can't see anything when using them.
  21. As far as the V8 goes, it's decent. Wish I had got Meglahems after reading all the praise and seeing all the user temps in the evga forums..........but anyway. My biggest issue was that the V8 was so big I had to take my side fan off (that blows on the video cards) because it hit, and I have an alienware case. I had to add a fan loose in my case to blow on my video cards lol. I also added 155 cfm intake and exhaust fans as well as some other case fans for added cooling. BTW- all the fans run at 100% manual. Still yet, I may end up water cooling the cpu so I can put a fan back on my side panel properly. The i7 gets a little toasty with prime 95. High 70's-about 82 to be exact. However, the only thing I do with my system is game and check my email and such. Running back to back to back 3d Mark tests and gaming for many hours at a time I have yet to see my temps go above 58-60 in the worst case scenarios. Usually it is in the high 40's/low 50's. I've been running it like this for a couple of weeks now so it seems to be very stable. As far as the GPU's go here is a screen. Both cards are clocked almost identical. This also shows my CPU info. And here is another that shows my typical temps. The coolermaster in all it's glory.................Excuse the mess, this was during the upgrade. 158 kb Had to take a side fan off to clear the V8 cooler to get the side back on my old alienware case but here she is.

Tony I decided to give my system a few tests using the exact Nvidia CP settings you used as well as your arma 2 settings since our systems are so similar. This is what I got right off the bat. I did a second test for comparison using Force Frame Rendering 2 and I picked up a little over 1000 points, 7890ish for what it's worth. Then I did a third test with everything the same as you EXCEPT, I turned Trilinear Filtering Quality to HIGH PERFORMANCE. Results: Still couldn't break 8000 though. But I'll work on it. ;)
  23. Vista locked my FPS at 32 as well on the MP portion of the game even though on Arma 2 mark it was unlocked. For me Windows 7 was a Godsend for performance gains. Please go here (page 55) and read my Vista Vs Windows 7 benchmark results. There are 2 posts back to back with several head to head tests:http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73610&page=55
