Can anyone help me plz ? Loud Heli sounds etc ... Any advice would be appreciated
RedruM-X replied to RedruM-X's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I know heli's are supposed to be loud, but with those settings they shouldn't be louder then my friend on ventrilo, and I don't need to turn Ventrilo up as Ventrilo is ok in ALL other games. It is a ARMA2 problem which they can easily fix. If you think it's normal that HELI's are still as loud as fuck with those audio settings, then dream on. I'll try the EAX thing, but doubt this will change anything. ---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 PM ---------- Tested disabling EAX, changes nothing at all. I've tried just about anything, ratio thingies and everything, nothing really makes it better or work as it should work. Giving up on this shit, will never do it anyway as I see people saying everywhere. -
Missing xAudio2 file(s) & sound issues

I understand what you say, but that's not it, as the sliders DO work. When I max them out, sound is MEGA loud, and in windows, sliders is in HALF position. Any changes on that level will bugger up ventrilo anyway as you'd need to configure everything there again, just for 1 game. While ALL other games do it perfectly fine. It's a bug, and can be solved easily if they wanted too. And my headset has a separate volume btw, and it's on very low even ... so ... no go. Even with sliders in windows on low, which like I said, fucks up all the config ppl have taken a long time to get right in Ventrilo and all other games. -
HDR and Bloom are completely out of control!

Dude like I don't know about the post-processing, it is DISABLED/OFF. The problem stays EXACTLY the same ! Nothing has changed about it, if you'd know something about it, then you'd also now that this is HDR problem, post-processing only does blur and bloom. So dream on. ---------- Post added at 10:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:50 PM ---------- This is a better suggestion, but problem stays the same as you can clearly see in the videos, because if I'd turn up the brightness, then yes, when getting those dark moments, it would help, but when you look away from the sun then everything will be OVERbrightened, so no, not a solution. It is a HDR problem/bug, simple as that. -

I still have this exact problem with 1.03. Dusk or dawn, totally non playable. Didn't they test play it or what ... or do they really think this happens in real life or something ... ?!!! Hate it. When I get on a map at those hours, I just want to quit asap. Wish there was a solution -

I have Nexway downloaded version. The helicopter and jetsounds etc, actually, all sounds almost, are not controllable via the Audio menu as they should supposed to be, and the heli sounds are so loud ... E.g. I put all sound to 0, and then I click ONLY once on every meter so Radio, sound and music are at it's lowest value (but not 0), as shown in following pic : http://users.telenet.be/RedruM-X/ARMA2/Sound_vol.JPG You can see that these settings should put all volumes ridiculously LOW, well, they don't. The sound is still so loud that I can't hear my friends over ventrilo, which is seriously annoying. All other sounds are ok, but engine sounds ... I understand that the effects of a chopper or jet and so on should be louder then for example a footstep (logical), but they just don't scale with what you configure in the audio menu, and that is not normal. There is nothing wrong with my X-Fi soundcard, nothing wrong with drivers either. All work correctly and are updated. It's driving me nuts because I'm quite a good pilot but I just cant fly the heli with exterior view as it makes me deaf, but this is my preferred method of flying. I just don't know what to do anymore ... Anyone please, if you have any advice ? -

Nexway downloaded version. No cracks nor pops or anything. Several friends of mine have exactly the same following problem : The helicopter and jetsounds etc, actually, all sounds almost, are not controllable via the Audio menu as they should supposed to be. Nexway downloaded version. Don't understand why this is not in the list (sorry if I overlooked), it's one of the most annoying bugs in the game, and yes, it is a bug, as several friends of mine have exactly the same problem : The helicopter and jetsounds etc, actually, all sounds almost, are not controllable via the Audio menu as they should supposed to be. There is nothing wrong with my X-Fi soundcard, nothing wrong with drivers either. All work correctly. It is, a bug. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Another thing, which I have to say I'm not sure it happens all the time, but I've seen it happen in 1.02 and just now also in 1.03, is the following : You're typing in the chat, and when striking a key which is bound to for example, the compass, then it shows the compass also for a sec while typing the letter K in the chat, or when typing A or E my character starts leaning left and right, but all of this shouldn't be happening, as I'm chatting at that moment, and all those things should not be reacting while in a chat. As I said, doesn't happen always, but it's there. --------------------------------------------------------------------- And the last thing, there seems to be a bit more stutter after 1.03. The things the patch solves however are much more important then that atm, but still I have the impression that something has changed about the way textures or the like are streamed now, only small difference then before, but still, this somehow creates a stutter now and then. But this is for me personally the lesser of evil atm. Especially the first bug is driving me nuts ! You expect to play a nice and calm Arma 2 game, and the sounds just make you so DEAF that you want to remove your headset sometimes ... certainly not as it should be.
