  1. Is there any plans to roll 1.5 out on steam? all the other patches were done on release day this has been weeks! I know I can install it manually (and I have) I just like how steam automagically updates stuff for me...

    Fair point out of the box its limits are low, (though there is a vid of someone using respawning well to get an insane battle going) And the 4 player co-op is lame also give it time, if they release an SDK expect modders to go nuts! :)

I played opf with a mate at my house on a lan, i fly the chopper and we inserted and rescued the hostages and i flew around covering him was the most fun i had in a shooter ever, arma 2 is very very broken and doesn't work all that well on my high end spec machine. I guess by the time i get a new wizz bang one next year some time, the patches and mods (ace2) will be out along with the xpac, (which is stand alone WTF???) By then it hopefully is stable :) anyways have a good day lads! Thanks for reminding of that rad experience

    why is EARTH would you want OPF2 to fail???? If opf2 succeeds then publishers would want more of the same, thus arma would have an easier time getting a publisher, more money and more time to get what they want done. Everyone here bashing opf2 hoping for its failure is also making it harder for arma to succeed You ALL should be wanting it succeed so that this genre only gets stronger. /sigh
  6. lads, pixel and vertex shaders should already be in the game mate, I'd suggest that a lot of effects they are doing are through shaders. They are just a gpu optimised way to do tasks which before were difficult and required specific code per vid card type. If they are not using shaders atm I'd be pretty surprised indeed.

    Patch 1.05 suggestions

    CQB - Ability to set what level in a building a bad guy is. More buildings with actual rooms we could place them in. AI- A working version of find cover so they actually look for cover behind the line of fire not in front. - Group awareness so one group can tell another group they are under attack etc. - Sniper AI so they 'go prone' and attack you at the range of the weapon (1kish!) FPS - improve fps in cities its very poor atm.
  8. I don't you should enforce paying but there are plenty of opportunities for modders and modding groups to receive donations. I just wish more modders had paypal accounts we could contrib to. lots of us professionals would love to contrib to their efforts
  9. avx23 mate, draw distance isn't the distance you see things. its actually 1/2 the distance to see objects like enemy's vehicles etc.

Heya guys, I wanted to throw some ideas around, I'm looking at creating a map where bluefor plays against AI Opfor, but the Opfor are controller by 1 or 2 human players, This adds basically a DM for the AI. We tend to play on Veteran difficulty so no map markers of where your entities are. Would it be possible or could we 'hack' it so that the opfor side map all the extended map info? While the bluefor side still doesn't. thanks for your time Mils

  12. heya guys I'm sorry if i missed this if its posted already, I was curious if anyone has done a logic script for snipers. I've noticed that ai in arma tends to ignore you till you get within 300 metres then it shoots. Snipers should have range of 2 to 3 times that, but they never shoot. :( Is There any scripts out there already that can help with this? If not anyone got any tips of what functions I'd need to start looking at to write one? thanks Mils

    player count dropping FAST

    we're hoping you can have 8 fireteams (4 players in each) and only that fireteam is locked in that 250 range from the leader. (2 players can be 500 meters apart if they are at the left and right flank of the leader. but we doubt we'll be that lucky and have to wait for the patches/mods to make arma2 great :)
  14. any chance of a mod which prints peoples names above their heads? I don't really want it for gameplay but for screenshots when we all line up at the end it would rule! :) would this be possible?
  15. Anyone have any idea if there is a way we can make the mod show the range table from the sights? so tiresome to go back to the map to check them :(

    this statement is correct if you install solas' slx_mod which tells ai hey your being shot at find some cover. (on the far side of the dude shooting at you) my biggest issue with arma 2 is enemy awareness, sometimes they are awesome other times your sniping at them and they don't react at all :( /sigh

    Heya solus, just wanted to tell you that hang I had during a cutscene playing badlands, was from SOWMod not SLX. Played again without SOW and it worked fine. (cept for the fact i died (well injured and forced to the floor) in the cutscene from exploding vehicles around me!)

    I just dropped mod weapons and everything works well, the value seems to be in mod weapons that drops bullet damage to zero some times. Also badlands test as i always do, and it hangs every time when I am watching the 1st cutscene after you take novi sobor. I will remove all other mods and test if its slx or sound of war mod etc.
  21. my list: at_compass - makes compass huge fps helper - makes grass not retarded and game runs well sound of war mod - sounds like battlefield bad company really basie and good slx_mod - minus the weapons and wounding. Just the ai stuff really CBA - cause slx needs it beno's Army2009 costumes - cause they are just plain sexy!

    heya solus i had the 3 second freeze happen just before one of the razor team said "enemy car in novi sobor" seems like badlands and its very active ai from both sides is a reliable place to see this happen.
  23. heya I tried to run this with fps helper and the lodding system didn't work with it. Any chance you can chat with the fps helper author and come up with a solution so both can work (I hate arma2 grass and like that fps helper pretty much negates it) I did an FPS check FPShelper 25 fps Nothing 15 LowLOD addon 18. so fps helper still does some amazing work to keep the fps up. I just hate how the lod is so drastic between trees and would love something more static like your mod.

    Love your work solus! Same badlands test again tonight. Target: Mounted machinegunner No mod:2 shots to take down. SLX: 4 shots to take down (which seams about right as everything seems to take 2 bullets cept for headshots. Had a hang. Was about to move forward into novi sobor and just noticed enemy, at 600 meters away in town get a bearing on me, went to lay down while zoomed with DMR and it hung is what seemed like an infinite loop in logic as the ambient sounds keep plodding along in the background. You should setup a paypal thing for people to donate too lad, your putting in a lot of hours atm!
  25. I agree so very much with norrins revive should be an optional module that is part of arma2 and thus less prone to bugs. Couldn't agree more about grass, I use fps helper to negate the grass as its current logic is retarded either way they have 4 weeks to do some of these things or people will just walk away. (not that they care as you already paid! :P)
