Sometimes when i try to shoot, the gun doesnt fire?
Grunks replied to WMike20052's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
ACE introduced weapon jamming, that might be it. Just reload the gun or use your mousewheel to pick "clear jam" and that might sort it out. -
I find that just using the 6 digit grid reference is enough and if more accuracy is needed then divide the grid you are looking at into 9 and visualise that as a keypad. For example 135092 is the reference for the south of Solnichniny on Chernarus. 134091 keypad (or K) 1 means I am talking about the house in the south west of the grid. Grid ref was slightly off, fixed now.

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment - Public Beta!
Grunks replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Just want to say I am having alot of fun so far with whats been done, can't wait for the rest of it to come out! :bounce3: Also, loving the six-updater. Sure it was abit more difficult than your average mod to set up but after actually reading over the instructions a few times and then reading through this thread it works like a charm. Its an absolute life saver for me while I am stuck with unis really slow net :D -

I'm buying game tomorrow, ? about patch
Grunks replied to panzer948's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
1.04 is the latest offical patch and you should only need to download that one to get your game up to date. There are more up to date beta patches and you can play online with these and everything should work properly with the beta patches but if something doesn't work you should remember it is only a beta patch. As for add ons, I personally can recommend any islands (Everson, Namlask and Japhato) being personal and squad favorites. However, any add ons you install such as british weapons (for example), will not effect the offical campaign in any way at all unless you edit the campign missions by un-pbo'ing them. I think the best way to find addons you like is to download and test them yourself, even if you totally trust what someone else has to say about them, you may find you like them even if you don't. :) -
I find that in the harrier if your going full whack at 300 (insert altitude measurement here) then you if drop your bombs about 1k from your target, you should be good.

keeps highlighting every option over and over

And if none of the above works/applies to your case. Press tab? -
1. Start the mission. 2. Grab the HMMWV. 3. Drive to house. 4. Do your stuff. 5. Get back in jeep. 6. Drive up the hill through the woods. 7. Meet people there. 8. Accept the lift off them. 9. Follow the guy to the car. Bish, bash, bosh. Mission over :)

Xfire: Now includes fix for ArmA2 compatibility
Grunks replied to alef's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I got ArmA 2 off steam and it should therefore work launching from xfire but it doesn't do anything when I try to. Anyone got any ideas? All my other games (Steam and Non-steam) work fine through xfire  -
Worse performance than I should be getting?
Grunks replied to TheXRatedDodo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
http://i392.photobucket.com/albums/pp6/PardGhost/ArmA%202/ArmA2settings.png Theres a screenshot of my settings, as you can see I'm getting a steady 30 FPS on the menu and it doesn't appear to take a hit once i'm in the game. Another tip would be a open ArmA 2. Then open up the task manager, right click on ArmA and set the processor to a higher setting. ArmA is current processed in "real-time" for me. As to SP3, I never had a problem with it. As a note to the post below me i'm running XP 32 SP3 Home. -

I'm only running a 9800GT but it appeared to help me. Maybe try ramping up the setting and bringing down the view distance and seeing what happens? -

I only have an AMD Athlon 4200+ x2 dual core and it runs the game perfectly even though it's lower than the recommended one. I manage ArmA 2 on very high settings for *everything* with that processor, 2gb of RAM at 333Mhz and a 9800GT graphics card. Granted I can only get about 5k veiw distance before I start taking an FPS hit but i'm willing to not be able to see massive distances for playing in very high. Have you tried downloading the EVGA sli patch and the latest nVidea drivers? That certainly helped me. And before you reformat, maybe try a defrag? -
I've noticed this myself having been playing some evolution to get a feel for the game and how things work. (I'm new to ArmA :P) However, at one point I found myself a sniper rifle and a nice tall tower to climb up. From up there, I managed to snipe most of an enemy squad at about roughly 500m maybe more and not once did they fire back or appear to know my location. I then tested this by firing on the AA vehicle that was about 200m away in the other direction and it didn't even look at me after about 60 rounds had hit it. However, in other situations where i've tried sniping from behind a tree i've been killed after firing one shot and i've also been blow out the sky by AA at over 2000m while barely off the gound in a chopper.
